Future Me and My Love

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Almost Kissed, But Not Yet

The night air was cool, and the city lights shined softly. Gen and Lee sat on the rooftop bar, drinks in hand, soft music playing in the background.

Gen smirked, watching Lee. "So, Doc… how's our first official date?"

Lee took a sip of her drink. "It's fine."

Gen gasped. "Fine? That's all?"

Lee glanced at her. "What else do you want me to say?"

Gen leaned in, grinning. "That this is the best night of your life because you're with me."

Lee rolled her eyes. "Not happening."

Gen chuckled. "You'll admit it one day."

Lee looked out at the city. She felt nervous, and she didn't know why. Gen was teasing like always, but tonight, something felt different. The way Gen looked at her, the way she touched her hand earlier—it wasn't just for fun.

Gen suddenly reached out and tucked a strand of Lee's hair behind her ear.

Lee froze. "What are you doing?"

Gen smirked. "Getting closer to you."

Lee swallowed. She should say something. She should push her away. But she didn't move.

Gen leaned in, their faces just inches apart.

"Can I kiss you?" Gen whispered.

Lee's heart raced. She should say no. She should—

"LEE!"

A loud voice made them both freeze.

Lee's eyes widened. Dr. Kim, Muk, and Adhi stood nearby, grinning like they just caught her stealing something.

Gen groaned, pulling back. "You've got to be kidding me."

Lee turned red. "W-What are you guys doing here?"

Muk smirked. "We should ask you that."

Dr. Kim raised an eyebrow. "Did we interrupt something?"

Gen grinned. "Oh, definitely."

Lee shot her a glare. "Gen."

Adhi grinned. "Damn, Lee, you didn't tell us you were dating a smooth talker."

Lee covered her face. "This is a disaster."

Gen stood up. "I'll get drinks for everyone. You guys talk."

Lee gave her a warning look, but Gen just winked and walked away.

As soon as she was gone, Muk leaned in. "So… Gen, huh?"

Lee sighed. "Not now."

Dr. Kim smirked. "Oh, we are definitely talking about this."

Adhi nudged her. "How long has this been going on?"

Lee hesitated. "It's… new."

Muk grinned. "New, but serious enough that you almost kissed her."

Lee groaned. "Can we not?"

Dr. Kim crossed her arms. "We just didn't expect her to be your type."

Lee frowned. "What do you mean?"

Adhi shrugged. "She's loud, flirty, and a bit too smooth."

Lee sighed. "Tell me about it."

Muk smirked. "But you like it."

Lee didn't answer.

Because maybe… they were right.

Later That Night

Lee lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.

She was still thinking about that almost kiss.

Gen had been so close. If her friends hadn't shown up… would she have kissed her?

Lee turned to look at the time. 12:34 AM.

She sighed.

Before she could stop herself, she grabbed her phone.

Lee: Are you awake?

Gen replied instantly.

Gen: For you? Always.

Lee hesitated before typing.

Lee: Can I come over?

Gen: Oh? Missing me already?

Lee rolled her eyes.

Lee: Forget it.

Gen: Too late. Door's open. See you in 5.

Lee sighed, grabbed her jacket, and left.

She didn't know why she was going.

But she knew exactly who she wanted to see.
