Chapter 25: Chapter 25: A Deal with the Devil
Lee Tells Her Friends
Lee took a deep breath, gripping her coffee cup tightly. She was sitting in a café with her three best friends—Dr. Kim, Muk, and Adhi. They all looked at her, waiting for her to speak.
"I… have something to tell you guys," Lee finally said.
Muk sipped his coffee. "Did Gen do something again?"
Adhi smirked. "Oh, let me guess. You two finally kissed?"
Lee's face turned red. "CAN YOU ALL STOP—"
Before she could finish, Gen walked in and sat next to her. She looked completely relaxed. "Actually, yes. We did."
Silence.
Then—
"WHAT?!"
Lee groaned, covering her face. "This is not the point."
Dr. Kim leaned forward. "Then what is?"
Lee hesitated. "My mom… is making me marry Gen."
Muk choked on his coffee. "MARRY?!"
Adhi nearly dropped her spoon. "You're joking, right?"
Lee shook her head. "No. She gave me a week."
Dr. Kim blinked. "A week… as in seven days?"
Lee sighed. "Yes."
Muk looked between Lee and Gen. "Wait, wait, wait. And you're just okay with this?"
Gen smirked. "I mean, I get to marry the cutest doctor in town. Why would I complain?"
Lee elbowed her. "Stop joking!"
Gen chuckled. "Fine. But seriously, it's not like I have a problem with it."
Dr. Kim frowned. "But what about you, Lee? Do YOU want this?"
Lee hesitated. "I… I don't know. It's too fast. I'm not ready."
Gen finally stopped joking and looked at her. "Then let's make a deal."
Lee raised an eyebrow. "What kind of deal?"
Gen leaned forward. "We do the wedding, but we don't have to act like a real married couple. Let's date for a year first. If we both feel like this is working, we continue. If not, we separate."
Lee stared at her. "You're serious?"
Gen nodded. "Completely."
Muk looked at Gen. "And you'd be okay with separating if it doesn't work?"
Gen smirked. "I know which way this is gonna go."
Lee narrowed her eyes. "And what way is that?"
Gen winked. "You'll fall for me completely."
Lee groaned. "I knew it."
Adhi grinned. "Honestly, this might be the most entertaining wedding ever."
Dr. Kim shook her head. "Lee, are you sure about this?"
Lee looked at Gen, who was watching her with a confident smirk. Then she sighed.
"I don't know… but I don't have many choices."
Gen patted her head. "That's the spirit, wifey."
Lee slapped her hand away. "DON'T CALL ME THAT!"
Muk laughed. "Oh, this is gonna be fun."
Gen grinned. "Oh, it will be."
