Genius Triplets' Matchmaking Mission: Hiring A CEO Daddy

Chapter 8: A crime partner.

Leo's POV

I didn't want a daddy. We were already perfect, me, Luca, Luna, Mommy, and Auntie Lilly. I would protect Mommy. That was our world. Cozy, loud, fun. Safe, I would make sure of it. We didn't need anyone else. So, I tossed that whole "let's find a daddy" nonsense right out of my head. What a ridiculous idea. Why go searching for a stranger to mess things up?

I set Gray down in his basket, scratched behind his ears, and quietly reached for the doorknob. I turned it slowly, stealth mode activated, and slipped into the hallway.

That's when I heard them.

Mommy's voice was soft, almost a whisper. "I'm sure that was Alexander Song. Luca was talking to the man… and then his mood just changed."

I froze. My hand hovered in midair. She saw? Mommy was smart! Why was I surprised!

"Do you think he said something to him, Lilly?" Mommy continued. "Something that upset him?"

"Maybe Luca just got lost and asked for help," Auntie replied. "Or maybe the guy refused. I don't know. But something made Luca follow him like that."

I leaned closer, listening. Auntie finished her drink with a loud crack and tossed the can into the bin.

"Stop overthinking!" she added. "Let's take them to Grandpa Bryant's strawberry farm. He'll forget all about today."

I raised an eyebrow. So Mommy was talking about this man too? I clenched my fists! Huh. I wasn't the only one suspicious. But it sounded like she didn't like him much either. I sniffed the air. Not for real, but, you know, emotionally sniffed. This smelled like… a big misunderstanding. A delicious one. Time to find out who this mysterious Alexander Song really was. Let's see how "strong" he thinks he is. I just needed a clue to make my siblings change their minds. Luna already gave in because the man was handsome and strong!

I changed my mind about having orange juice. If I walked into the kitchen now, they'd see me, and I didn't feel like explaining myself. On the other hand, if she caught me, my siblings would be exposed. It was time to retreat, I'd heard so much already.

So I turned around and slipped quietly back into the room. "You're back?" Luna chirped. She waved her tablet in the air. "Come see how pretty his girlfriend is!"

I rolled my eyes. Blog gossip wasn't real research. I needed data, not rumors dressed in glitter. Tsk, some of them make rumors about TMT, their group. They said we were not humans but aliens!

"Our mommy's prettier," Luca mumbled from under his blanket, already curling up again. His voice was low but solid. He looked at this like a business, and we had to hire another employee. But he must learn, Mommy was the boss, and we were a family. That was enough.

I glanced at him. I wanted to tell him Mommy had seen him talking to that man. But if she hadn't scolded him… then she didn't think the man was dangerous. That was good to know.

My eyes shifted to my backpack resting in the corner. My laptop was inside. Without saying a word, I picked it up and moved to my usual spot by the window. Hopefully, this new room had a good one.

"Hey," Luna whined. "At least tell us what you're doing."

She started crawling over, nosy as ever. I raised my palm. "Get back to bed. Let me work."

She stuck out her tongue, scrunched her face into something silly, and flopped dramatically to her mattress.

Good. Mission secure.

I opened my laptop, typed fast, and searched everything I could on Alexander Song. His company. His background. News coverage. Everything that mattered. Then I logged into my secure platform and pinged my tutor.

[We arrived. Hire a private detective when you land. Discreetly.]

[Why?]

Manager Jackson replied fast, he always did.

I smirked and typed back.

[Mommy might be in danger. Name: Alexander Song. CEO of SSI.]

[Consider it done.]

Manager Jackson. He's not just our manager, he's my best player.

I was only five when I first got curious about computers and AI. Their language just… made sense to me. So, I started learning on my own, quietly, secretly.

And then, one day, I accidentally hacked another hacker in the park near our place, his phone. It turned out he was a software engineer. Oops.

But instead of getting mad, he got curious. When he realized I was just a kid, a literal child, he sent me an advanced IQ test, and after I sent the result, he offered to tutor me. Said I had potential. I already knew he needed money. His mom was sick, and the hospital bills were piling up. I'd seen his payment logs when I breached his firewall. (Sorry, not sorry.) He should have been more careful.

We already made decent money from our songs, so I brought him in. Quietly, and cleanly, not letting Mommy find out.

The plan?

Get him close. Close enough to protect us and be a crime partner in our plans. Mommy was still interviewing people to become our official manager. I had to make sure only one candidate survived.

Jackson.

So, I called in reinforcements, my siblings. We became a nightmare. Cheeky, rude, dramatic. Luna cried for no reason. Luca vanished on purpose. I pretended to break the vacuum cleaner by shoving a pizza crust inside. Every candidate ran away in under three hours, crying.

Hmm, I feel guilty sometimes. We went too far! Mommy was losing hope and Jackson was our last interview.

Bingo! He got the job. In exchange, I had him sign a legally binding NDA, one even Mommy didn't know I drafted.

He kept my secrets, and I kept his. It was called balance, like all good partnerships. And he's flying on Tuesday morning.

So be game on.
