Genshin Impact: The Daily Life of Inazuma's Youkai

Chapter 89: 89: Resolving Déjà Vu

"Something's off with Lady Narukami," Reisen Riou mused.

"It's fine," a voice said behind him, sweet with the scent of desserts. Raiden Ei.

"Lady Ei, do you know what's up?" he asked.

"Nothing major. Sister's just rattled," Ei whispered, eyeing Raiden Makoto's diligent work. "Fontaine's Hydro Archon grants pure waters, Barbatos blesses Mondstadt with fertile lands and breezes, Morax forges Mora, and Rukkhadevata guides Sumeru with wisdom and bounty. But Natlan, Snezhnaya, and Inazuma are poorer. Natlan's Pyro Archon is a battle nut, Snezhnaya's Cryo Archon is new, so Inazuma… Sister feels responsible. She'll be serious for a year or two, then back to normal."

A mirror flew at Ei, who caught it deftly, but her dessert plate slipped. Reisen Riou instinctively grabbed it. "Ei, can't sweets shut you up?" Makoto snapped. "Recorder, you're on leave! Don't bother me for a week!"

Makoto's embarrassment was clear. Ei tossed the mirror back, pulling Reisen Riou away. "…" He'd taken collateral damage but scored a week's holiday—perfect for refining Serenitea Pot and probing his persistent déjà vu.

Trouble first: Ei's casual hand-holding. He didn't recall being this close, though he admitted eyeing her figure. Unnoticed, Ei paused briefly, her Thunderous Yougou Divine Machine amplifying her ability to read his surface thoughts when near, a perk of their link. At LV60+, he resisted demon god mind-reading, but Ei's device bypassed that. What she planned? Even she didn't know.

Ei led him through secret Shogunate paths, snatched the dessert plate, and vanished. "Uh…" Reisen Riou stood, baffled.

Elsewhere, Ei leaned against a wall, flushed, steaming. "Get a grip, Ei. He's just a kid."

"My lord, the materials are ready," said Tenmoku Uji, showing age, beside a younger Uyu Tarou—not the original, who'd retired to his fief, but his son, now Reisen Riou's attendant. Their light duties stemmed from his high rank.

"Even Old Stone, huh? Liyue's treasure for Serenitea Pot. Send the bill, Tenmoku, I'll cover it."

"Yes, sir," they said, retreating.

Reisen Riou checked the scarce, precious materials—enough for a third of Ritou's size. His limited youkai energy couldn't handle more, but it sufficed. Using a teapot as the [medium], he melted Cor Lapis, Noctilucous Jade, Amethyst Lump, and Maple Wood, infused youkai energy to expand the realm, and isolated it for stability. After thousands of mental simulations, the process flowed smoothly.

"Done," he said, touching the teapot. The world spun, revealing a shrine modeled on Ritou's, its cornerstone stabilizing the space. Beyond stretched endless grasslands, but Reisen Riou ignored them, reeling from a flood of memories.

"Teyvat's a game I played?" he gasped. "Those memes… The Traveler twins, the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles… Barbatos, still a drunken fool. Morax, a freeloading bum? Unthinkable. This plot—knives everywhere. Inazuma… Lady Narukami dies?! Khaenri'ah's war—so strong? Yae Miko, gone? Hanasari… Torachiyo goes mad? Understandable, with Liyue's Yaksha falling too. But Torachiyo married into the Miyuki clan? No samurai family by that name now, nor cart-makers. Puppet Sword Demon—another knife. Mihoyo, heartless. Ei crafts a Raiden Shogun puppet to rule? Typical, but crude. And 'Raiden Kokuhou'? Seriously, Ei?"
