Genshin Impact: The Daily Life of Inazuma's Youkai

Chapter 91: 91: Upgrade

Reisen Riou, a man of action, returned to Ritou, instantly relaxed by its familiar air. He spent a day resting and catching up with Anko Renrei, then focused on expanding the cold storage and upgrading One System, Ten Thousand Minds. Running low on Ice Mist Flowers, he bought more from Ritou's shops. Though rare, these plants thrived in clusters, their Cryo energy nourishing each other. One stop sufficed, a testament to Ritou's growth. "Smooth sailing," he marveled, replanting Ice Mist Flowers before resuming work.

His goal: transform One System, Ten Thousand Minds from a mid-tier server to a small-scale supercomputer. Servers handled services; supercomputers tackled computation and research. The current server managed Ritou's needs easily, but Reisen Riou's complex calculations—especially for his youkai arts—outstripped it. Why did Thunderous Yougou Divine Machine, Raiden Ei's gift, keep up? He suspected self-evolving tech and its portability, unlike the bulky One System, now mountain-heavy post-upgrade, too large for his Serenitea Pot and unable to draw power there. "Thunderous Yougou's tech is absurdly advanced—energy efficiency alone could take centuries to crack," he muttered.

He perfected One System, Ten Thousand Minds 3.0, fixed design flaws, and rerouted Cryo Slime patrols, stuck at LV50 without breaking their limit. A secondary task was optimizing their elemental cycles for breakthroughs.

"Reisen Riou," Anko Renrei called as he left the cold storage, planning a hot spring dip.

"Anko? What's up?"

"One System, Ten Thousand Minds feels weaker lately. Can you check?" she asked.

Closing his eyes, he accessed her four One System units' data. "All normal." But her stats explained the issue:

Anko Renrei

Life Level: LV65

Status: Peak Vitality

Role: Ritou Shrine Palace Maiden, Secondary Access Holder

Mindset: Celestial Light

Theory: Moderate

Practice: Genryuu Naginatajutsu LV8, Genryuu Swordsmanship LV8, Renrei Archery LV7, Heart Flow LV7, Elemental Mastery LV7, Radiant Escape LV6 (Reisen Riou's Electro-dash), Spellcraft LV6…

Her panel outshone his, rendering One System's buffs negligible. "It's not weaker—you've outgrown it," he said. "Unless you learn mundane skills like embroidery or farming, it can't boost you further. Your naginata and sword skills already maxed its knowledge." Suggesting a pivot to research, he dismantled her One System units, building an interactive computer linked to his Thunderous Yougou clone for data processing and translation. For example, to extend her blade aura's range, she'd input motion and decay data, letting the supercomputer calculate optimizations.

After teaching her to use it, he returned to Inazuma City, his holiday nearing its end.

Meanwhile, Raiden Ei felt off. A memory gap—17:24 to 17:38 one day—eluded her. Cross-referencing Thunderous Yougou Divine Machine's logs, she found deletion traces, self-executed. "I erased my own memories?" she whispered, chilled by the possibility of repeated tampering.
