Genshin Impact: Tragedy Life Simulator

Chapter 87: Chapter 87

Beidou carried Kael into a simple yet cozy room, filled with the warmth and signs of everyday life. Documents were scattered messily across the desk, and several unfolded clothes lay on the floor.

Judging by their style, these clothes belonged to Beidou.

Wait, was this Beidou's own room?

"Your room hasn't been tidied yet, so you'll have to rest in mine for now."

Noticing Kael's gaze lingering on the scattered clothes, Beidou's cheeks flushed slightly red. She quickly scooped up the clothes from the floor, awkwardly bundled them up, and stuffed them beneath the bed.

"I haven't had the time to tidy up lately, so it's a bit messy."

Actually, this wasn't Kael's first time in her room.

Previously, Beidou had always kept her door wide open, carefree and unconcerned even if others saw the mess inside.

She was the Alcor's captain, after all—her days were packed with responsibilities far more important than small details like tidying up.

Kael had seen her room in chaos plenty of times before.

But somehow, now that she'd become aware of her own feelings towards him, everything felt entirely different.

She really didn't want Kael to see such an unladylike side of herself.

Seeing this shy, embarrassed Beidou was refreshing for Kael, and he couldn't help staring a bit longer than intended.

Only when Beidou shot him a glare with her reddened face did he quickly avert his eyes.

He shouldn't tease her anymore. If he kept looking, she'd probably become annoyed and angry at him.

"Captain, could you bring me a basin of water? I'd like to wash my face."

By now, the blood on Kael's face had dried, becoming sticky and uncomfortable.

"Alright."

Qiqi had quietly followed Beidou and Kael into the room.

"Mr. Kael... there's so much blood on your face... You can't die... Qiqi promised Baizhu she would take good care of you..."

Qiqi blinked her big innocent eyes, looking adorably confused.

Unable to resist, Kael reached out and gently pinched her cheek.

But rather than the softness of human skin, her cheek felt like a piece of frozen meat left in an icebox for far too long.

Kael was secretly amazed—so that's what her skin felt like...

"Don't worry," he reassured her gently. "I won't die today. You'll definitely complete your task smoothly."

"It's not just today you won't die," Beidou interjected as she entered carrying a basin of water. "You won't die for a long, long time. You'll definitely live to a ripe old age."

Kael simply smiled lightly, choosing not to respond.

Beidou dipped a cloth into the warm water and approached him.

Kael reached out, intending to take the cloth himself, but Beidou deftly avoided his grasp.

"You can't see clearly where your face is dirty. Let me clean it for you."

Realizing she had a point, Kael closed his eyes and tilted his face up, quietly waiting for Beidou's care.

The warm cloth gently slid across his face. After a long moment, he finally heard Beidou softly say, "Done."

Opening his eyes, Kael found Beidou staring at him, her gaze filled with tenderness.

She looked straight into his eyes and softly pleaded, "Kael, can you please keep living? For the Alcor... and for me... Please, keep living."

Beidou was sharp and perceptive. She had already noticed Kael had been avoiding this topic.

A sense of unease had settled deep within her.

She desperately needed Kael's promise to feel reassured.

But Kael remained silent.

He knew clearly the state of his own body.

He didn't want to make a promise he couldn't keep.

He was already destined to break his contract with Yanfei.

He didn't want to let down another person.

Not hearing Kael's reply, the hopeful light in Beidou's eyes gradually dimmed.

She smiled bitterly to herself, "I suppose that's asking too much, isn't it? Then how about Yanfei? Could you really bear to abandon her?"

"Captain..."

But as if unwilling to hear his reply, Beidou quickly turned away from Kael.

With her back facing him, she forced herself to speak cheerfully, "Alright, your face is clean now. You get some rest. I'll go to Chihu Rock and bring back something for you to eat."

Beidou swiftly left the room.

Qiqi tilted her head and said blankly, "That person just now... had lots of water coming from her eyes... Were those tears...?"

Kael froze for a moment, lowering his gaze.

He couldn't stop himself from sighing softly.

"I understand."

Kael inhaled deeply, calming himself.

He still had to properly complete his tragedy task in this life simulation.

As for the guilt he felt toward Beidou...

If he ever had a chance back in the real world, he'd do his best to make it up to her.

Beidou soon returned with Kael's favorite dish.

Kael took a few bites, his brows unconsciously furrowing.

The flavor was far too intense for his weakened body, and he had almost no appetite.

But seeing how Beidou had specially gone to bring it for him, he forced himself to continue eating.

He finished every last bite before finally stopping.

"Captain, I'm full."

Standing nearby, Qiqi noticed that the sky had already turned dark.

"Mr. Kael... it's about time... We should return to Bubu Pharmacy now..."

A look of reluctance immediately surfaced on Beidou's face.

"Do you have to leave already?"

Kael turned to Qiqi, "Qiqi, is it alright if I stay on the Alcor tonight?"

"No... You must return to Bubu Pharmacy... Baizhu is waiting for us..."

Suppressing her reluctance, Beidou gently persuaded him as well, "She's right. With your current condition, it's better to stay at Bubu Pharmacy. We'll feel more at ease knowing Doctor Baizhu is looking after you."

Seeing both Beidou and Qiqi insist, Kael finally relented. "Alright."

Beidou picked Kael up once more, carrying him all the way back to Bubu Pharmacy.

Before leaving, she gently stroked Kael's cheek.

"Kael, the Alcor will always wait for your return." And so will I...

Beidou swallowed back the last part of her words. She had regained her composure and didn't want to burden Kael further.

"Please take good care of yourself. The day after tomorrow, we'll hold a funeral on the Alcor for our fallen comrades. Come join us then, so we can send them off together one last time."
