Chapter 17: What Kind of Workaholic is This?

After wandering around Mondstadt and getting a sense of the city, Jiang Chen returned to the hotel to rest. However, Lumine didn't come back until much later. Who knows where she went in the meantime. Jiang Chen looked at her, his face full of questions.

"Why are you back so late?"

"Have you eaten yet?"

Hearing Jiang Chen's question, Lumine and Paimon shook their heads.

"No!"

"We just went to make some money!" Paimon chuckled.

While they were out shopping, they had run into quite a few people who needed help. So, they went ahead and helped out, earning a decent amount of Mora in the process.

Jiang Chen was baffled.

What kind of workaholic is this?

You go out shopping and still manage to find work?

Jiang Chen looked at Lumine, speechless.

"Alright, let's go eat then."

He didn't know how to react to this. Lumine was a natural-born worker. No matter where she went, she could always find some odd jobs to do. Jiang Chen didn't even know how to begin criticizing her for this.

Lumine, seeing Jiang Chen's exasperated expression, felt a bit annoyed.

"Do you look down on workers or something?"

Lumine was angry, and the consequences were serious.

Jiang Chen was kind of annoying!

What kind of look was that?

"No."

"I'm just surprised."

"You went out shopping and still managed to find work."

"That's impressive!"

And it really was. Lumine was something else. She just went out for a stroll, but she still managed to earn some money. Who else could do that?

"Erm... I didn't plan on it."

"But they paid so well."

"Mondstadt people are rich. Just delivering something earned me a few hundred Mora."

"I feel like if I settled down in Mondstadt, I could make a million Mora a month."

As she said this, Lumine's expression turned a bit strange.

Working was addictive.

Especially when the pay was good.

If you could earn a lot of money easily, who wouldn't want to?

So, you can't blame her.

Hearing this, Jiang Chen fell silent.

Alright, he had nothing to say.

He also agreed.

It was true.

If there were opportunities like this to pick up money, Jiang Chen would probably do the same, right?

He muttered to himself but didn't dwell on it. Since Lumine was back, it was time to eat.

The three of them headed out to the Good Hunter restaurant again.

After finding a seat and ordering some food, they sat together and chatted.

However, just then, an unexpected guest arrived.

Venti, that guy, showed up out of nowhere.

"You guys really screwed me over!!"

"Didn't I tell you not to reveal my identity?"

Venti sat down at the table, glaring at Jiang Chen and Lumine with a displeased expression.

When the Knights of Favonius found him earlier, he had been completely confused.

He thought his identity had been exposed.

But instead, the knights asked him if he had any connection to Barbatos.

They even said that Jiang Chen had told them he was related to Barbatos and that they hoped to contact the Anemo Archon through him.

When Venti heard this, he felt terrible.

What kind of identity had Jiang Chen given him?

That he knew the Anemo Archon? And that he was connected to Dvalin?

When he found out about this, he was completely dumbfounded.

Jiang Chen hadn't exposed his identity, but wasn't this just as bad?

Thinking about this, Venti felt incredibly frustrated.

"I'm helping you."

"I felt sorry for you, so I gave you an identity."

"When you're out in the world, you make your own identity."

"I think you should take this opportunity to join the Knights of Favonius and get a monthly salary."

"Isn't that better than singing on the streets for a few coins?"

"You should be thanking me."

Hearing Jiang Chen's words, Venti was filled with questions.

What kind of twisted logic was this?

You caused me trouble, and now I'm supposed to thank you?

Venti was completely done with this!!

"I don't care, you're treating me to food and drinks!"

"This is your mess."

"You're responsible for it!!"

Venti wasn't having any of it.

Right now, all he wanted was a free meal!!

Jiang Chen couldn't help but laugh when he heard this.

You're walking right into my trap, aren't you?

"Alright!"

"Let's order some more dishes."

"I happen to have a bottle of good wine here."

"I specially had Diona brew it this afternoon."

Jiang Chen smiled at Venti.

You want to drink?

No problem.

It's absolutely no problem at all.

It's as easy as pie.

I'm just afraid you won't drink it.

Thinking this, Jiang Chen took out the wine. When Venti heard that it was brewed by Diona, he got excited.

"Oh really?"

"That's so kind of you!"

He said this, but he had already somehow found a glass out of nowhere.

Seeing this, Jiang Chen couldn't help but laugh.

Jiang Chen placed the wine in front of Venti and opened it.

In the next moment, the aroma of the wine filled the air.

When Venti smelled it, his eyes lit up.

"Good wine!!"

At this moment, Venti had only one thought.

Drink!!

This wine was too tempting.

Seeing this, Jiang Chen smiled and said:

"We don't drink."

"This is for you."

"The food will be here soon."

"Have some food first before drinking."

Hearing this, Venti shook his head decisively.

"Who needs food? Let's drink!"

With that, he eagerly poured himself a glass.

Lumine, watching this scene, fell silent.

She had never seen someone so eager to dig their own grave.

If there was poison in that wine, they could have successfully assassinated the Anemo Archon today.

This guy was something else!

Venti didn't realize this was a trap.

All he saw was fine wine.

He picked up the glass and began sipping it.

Based on his experience with alcohol, this wine was strong.

So he didn't dare drink it in large gulps.

At first, he only took a small sip.

As soon as the wine hit his stomach, Venti felt like he was about to float away.

"Good... good wine!!"

This was way too good!

What followed was a demonstration of what a true alcoholic looked like.

Even without any side dishes,

Venti could drink with relish.

In fact, before Jiang Chen and the others' food even arrived, Venti was already getting drunk.

"One person, drunk on wine~!"

"Tsk tsk."

"Drink more."

"Waiter, bring me some drinks too."

"Here, Venti, have some food."

...

Jiang Chen began encouraging Venti to drink more.

This wasn't enough.

If Venti didn't pass out, Jiang Chen wouldn't be satisfied.

Venti, seeing this, didn't hold back either. He gulped down the wine and occasionally grabbed some food to eat.

Paimon looked at Jiang Chen with a strange expression.

Was this really okay?

Just as Jiang Chen was busy getting Venti drunk, Amber showed up.

Seeing Jiang Chen drinking with Venti, she was momentarily stunned.

"Amber."

"Come join us."

"We ordered a lot of food."

Jiang Chen invited Amber to sit down.

Hearing this, Amber nodded.

She had come to eat too, and since she ran into Jiang Chen, she might as well join them.
