Chapter 18: I’ve Never Seen Someone Deliver Themselves Like This

Amber glanced at the already-drunk Venti but didn't pay too much attention to him. When she found him earlier, he had been drinking in the tavern. From what she knew, this guy was a total alcoholic. So, it wasn't surprising that he was drunk now. She had come over not just to eat but also to find out what Jiang Chen and the others were planning next.

"Jiang Chen, when do you plan to leave Mondstadt?" Amber asked while eating.

Hearing Amber's question, Jiang Chen was a bit puzzled.

"Is there something wrong?"

"Do you need us to do something?"

It couldn't be that she came here just to ask this out of the blue, right?

"No... I'm just asking," Amber quickly shook her head.

Right now, there wasn't much in Mondstadt that required Jiang Chen's help. If the Stormterror crisis hadn't been resolved, there might have been plenty of things to do. But now? Not really. The only thing left to do, Jiang Chen would handle soon. So, after this, Jiang Chen could head to Liyue.

"We'll probably leave in a few days."

"Our next stop is Liyue."

Hearing this, Amber nodded.

"Alright."

"If you're leaving, please let me know."

After learning this, Amber didn't say much else. She sat down and had a meal with Jiang Chen and the others before leaving.

Once she was gone, Jiang Chen and Lumine turned their attention to Venti. By now, Venti was completely passed out. Seeing this, Jiang Chen smiled.

"Let's go!"

"We'll dump him in the hotel, and then we'll head to Windrise."

After saying this, Jiang Chen grabbed Venti by the back of his collar and started dragging him toward the hotel. Hearing this, Lumine nodded. She was starting to get excited too. It was time to take action!!

Paimon, however, was confused.

"Why are we going to Windrise?"

"Aren't we going back to sleep?"

She had no idea what was going on. It was already dark outside. Were they really going out now?

"We have business there."

"Paimon, if you don't want to go, you can stay at the hotel and sleep."

"Lumine and I will go alone."

"And we'll be back soon."

Jiang Chen glanced at Paimon and explained. If Paimon didn't want to go, she didn't have to.

Hearing this, Paimon immediately protested.

"No, no, no!"

"We're going too!"

Even though she didn't know what Jiang Chen and Lumine were up to, Paimon wanted to follow!! She had to see what they were hiding from her.

Hearing this, Jiang Chen nodded.

"Then let's all go."

"But first, let's get this guy settled."

With that, Jiang Chen quickened his pace and returned to the hotel. He booked another room and dumped Venti inside. After thinking for a moment, Jiang Chen took out another bottle of wine and placed it on the table, right where Venti would see it when he woke up.

Jiang Chen really hoped Venti would stay drunk for a few more days. Ideally, he'd still be hungover by the time Jiang Chen left. That way, Venti wouldn't have the energy to pay attention to what Jiang Chen and the others were up to.

Lumine, watching Jiang Chen's actions, fell silent.

He had everything planned out, huh?

Once everything was settled, Jiang Chen turned to Lumine.

"Let's go!"

"We're heading out."

With that, Jiang Chen led the way outside, with Lumine and Paimon following closely behind. After leaving the hotel, the group made their way out of Mondstadt City. There were no obstacles on the way out. Mondstadt was a city of freedom, and by nightfall, the knights guarding the gates were off duty. So, no one was there to stop them.

Leaving the city, Jiang Chen and Lumine rushed toward Windrise at full speed. Quite a few people were leaving the city at night. Now that the dragon crisis was over, many people went out to have fun. Jiang Chen and Lumine's departure didn't attract any attention.

The journey to Windrise wasn't short. So, along the way, Jiang Chen and Lumine were focused on moving quickly. Paimon, however, was full of questions.

"What are we going to do?"

"It's the middle of the night, and we're running to Windrise!"

Paimon was utterly confused. She couldn't understand what Jiang Chen and Lumine were up to.

"Don't ask, just keep moving!"

"We'll head back after we're done."

Lumine glared at Paimon. Why ask so many questions? Just follow along. You didn't want to stay behind, and now you're complaining after walking just a little?

Paimon was even more frustrated now.

Jiang Chen didn't pay attention to her because they were almost at their destination.

Windrise was quiet at this time. Under the moonlight, there was no one around. The vast grassland was empty, with no signs of life except for some elemental creatures moving about. The Windrise in reality was much larger than in the game.

"This is a perfect pasture."

"It's such a waste not to raise cattle here."

Jiang Chen's inner farmer instincts were activated. This grassland was perfect for grazing.

Hearing this, Lumine nodded.

"Absolutely!"

She agreed. This place was indeed perfect for raising livestock. However, it seemed like the people of Mondstadt hadn't considered this. Much of Mondstadt's land was suitable for farming, but very little of it was actually utilized. Only Springvale raised pigs, and Dawn Winery grew grapes. Other areas? Completely unused.

Mondstadt's economy was largely supported by its wine industry, with everything else coming second. Otherwise, Diluc wouldn't have become Mondstadt's richest man. Not utilizing such rich land resources was a complete waste.

One day, Liyue should just swoop in and take over Mondstadt's land for farming. After all, the land in Liyue was heavily polluted by ancient gods. If they could get their hands on this fertile land, who knows how much they could develop?

The thought made Jiang Chen's eyes gleam with envy.

Shaking his head, Jiang Chen pushed those strange thoughts aside and spoke up:

"Let's go, head to the big tree first."

"The wine is buried there."

With that, Jiang Chen led Lumine straight toward the giant tree at Windrise. After walking for about ten minutes, they finally reached their destination. The tree swayed in the wind, its leaves rustling loudly.

Paimon, who had followed them here, shivered.

"Ugh... it's a bit cold!!"

The wind from Dragonspine reached here, making Paimon feel a chill. However, Jiang Chen and Lumine didn't seem to mind.

Looking at the area, Jiang Chen crouched down and began sensing the surroundings with his power. Lumine, on the other hand, pulled out a few shovels. She even handed one to Paimon.

Seeing this, Paimon was utterly baffled.
