Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!

Chapter 625: Finally A Breakthrough

"Why do we have to stay here?" Ma Li slumped on the ground in front of the sect. She looked at the passing clouds in the bright sky and mumbled to herself, "Why can't we watch Senior Sister's tribulation?"

"I am also curious to see how far she grows." A little far away from her, the rest of the girls were sitting in a meditative pose. It was clear from their expressions that even though they wanted to cultivate, the worry about their Senior Sister did not let them have the calm heart needed to perform the task.

"She is already as strong as me. I wonder how much she will grow after passing this tribulation," Chen Xueyan, sitting beside Jiang Shi, spoke with a curious tone, yet there was a bit of a reluctant look in her eyes.

Amidst the tense atmosphere, Ma Li's voice sounded again. She rolled her head to look at the girls, who had worried looks on their faces. "After she passes the tribulation, I want to take on the task of hunting the nearby beasts. Anyone want to join?"

Jiang Shi was the first to smile at her proposal. Her eyes held a meaningful look as if they understood more than the perverted woman was letting on. "I need to hone my ice skill, so I might as well use the real battle to gain experience."

The rest of the girls, except Zhong Hua and her maid Xu Lan, agreed to the proposal. It was not that they did not want to follow these girls, but their strength did not allow them to do so.

Since there were no proper courtyards for inner, outer, and core disciples, Xu Lan was currently living with the rest of the girls and gained a lot of insights in her cultivation. She could even feel herself getting closer to the Core Formation Realm.

While the girls lost themselves in the talks regarding their training, Ruo'er stood inside the secret Tribulation Room along with Xin Yan, Noah, and her grandfather Ming Ye.

The air inside the secret chamber was stifling, and Ruo'er could feel the chilling sensation from the pool in front of her. The chill was not of cold but something born from dread and… DEATH!

Ming Ye could not help but look at the black pond with a serious look in his eyes. 'This is even more potent than the one in our secret realm,' he thought, stealing glances at Noah. 'To think that he created this thing in a mere matter of months. The ones we have took thousands of years of legacy and enrichment to form.'

While the old man stood there in disbelief, Ruo'er looked at every detail of the pool carefully, trying to discern its nature.

On the periphery of the pool of black water, she saw jagged black crystal powders sprayed on the marble floor. The inky water seemed to pulse faintly, each beat resonating with the deep and unsettling energy.

In the middle of this pond was a stone platform floating there, untouched by the water.

'How fascinating,' she muttered while trying to use her senses to analyze the water that gave her the feeling of transcendence, as if no such thing should exist in their world.

Yet here it was, defying the natural order—a treasure that gave her a sense of unparalleled danger and allure.

"I would recommend you not to do that." Even before her senses could move further than one foot from her body, she felt a heavy hand on her shoulder. Looking over her shoulder, she saw it was Noah who had stopped her from probing the water.

"This is a pure manifestation of the closest thing to death laws. You have not started learning this law, so your senses are untainted by it. Touching the water with your Qi sense will only destroy them." Hearing him explain that with a warm smile on his face sent shivers down Ruo'er's spine.

Taking a step away from the pool, she glanced back at it, this time with a bit of fear.

"No need to be scared, my little Ru." Seeing her reaction, the old man chuckled warmly. "This Essence Pool is very good for you. You know that our body is associated with death. This pool will help you temper your core with the element of death."

"This pool is an opportunity and a gift from your Aunt Xin and Noah." The old man added with a smirk on his face while pointing at the two he named with his eyes.

"Since your breakthrough will take a few days, your birthday will go by during this time. So happy birthday in advance!" Xin Yan walked toward the young woman and held her hands.

Noah also wished her the same with a warm smile. Ruo'er's eyes teared up from the warmth she had received. 'If only Brother Tian was here as well.'

Hiding the pain in her heart, Ruo'er hugged the two of them on each side. "Thank you for this gift."

From her grandfather's tone, how could she not tell how precious this gift was?

"Come on, enter the pool. Just sit cross-legged on the platform in the middle." Noah patted her back and ushered the young woman to start her breakthrough.

Ruo'er sat cross-legged on the platform, her crimson robes pooling around her like spilled ink. Her grandfather, Ming Ye, moved closer to the pond to guide her through the whole process as he was most familiar with their clan's bloodline.

"Ruo'er," Ming Ye said, his voice low and steady, "control the death energy. Guide it. Do not let it overwhelm you. Your core will accept it willingly due to your bloodline. Force will only shatter it."

"Yes, Grandfather," Ruo'er replied, her voice calm despite the storm raging within her. She closed her eyes and started chanting her cultivation technique.

Woosh!

The moment her consciousness, blended with her cultivation technique, touched the death energy, it surged toward her like a starving beast. It was cold, sharp, and suffocating, clawing at her spirit with a hunger to consume.

Her core trembled within her dantian—a fragile, translucent orb barely holding its form. The orb appeared to be empty, seemingly surrounded by blood and organs of her body, and at the same time, it touched none of them.

As soon as it sensed the death energy in abundance, the core pulsed with energy, coming to life. Black marks started to appear on it like runes. Her bloodline pulsed like a steady drumbeat, resonating with the death energy in the pool.

Unlike others who would have been torn apart by the oppressive aura of the crystals, Ruo'er sat unshaken. The energy recognized her—it bent to her will, flowed through her veins like an extension of herself.

This was her birthright, the inheritance of her ancient bloodline!

The death energy coiled around her like a protective veil, drawn effortlessly into her core. Soon, a cocoon of death energy formed around the woman, her appearance no longer visible to the outside world.

"Keep at it, my dear granddaughter," Ming Ye only smiled, seeing these changes in his granddaughter. "From here on out, you are destined to rise to greatness. Your achievements will surpass even mine."

Noah and Xin Yan, sitting in the back cross-legged, heard the words of the old man but said nothing. Noah glanced at the black cocoon and closed his eyes. Unknown to Ming Ye or the girl herself, a magic seal appeared underneath the unconscious Ruo'er inside the cocoon.
