Chapter 641: Clue About The Mastermind

"Is it over?" Xin Yan asked.

"It is but the person behind all of this now knows someone has become aware of his arrangements." Noah shook his head with a sigh.

"But it's not all bad news." Noah said, "I have managed to find the location of where the souls have been taken away to."

Before Noah could say anything more, he heard the growling voices of the magistrate roaring at the maid in anger.

"How could you do this to… her!"

"You have been by her side since you were both children, and she treated you like her sister."

"After all that we have done for you!"

Noah glanced at him as Xin Yan whispered in his ear. "I thought he would kill her by now."

"He wants to but cannot bring himself to do something like that to her…" Noah glanced between the two of them and replied with a faint whisper of his own. "Not when she means so much to him."

"What do you—" Her words were cut short as the maid finally snapped and lashed out back at the magistrate.

"My mother died because of you!" She yelled, her eyes brimming with tears. "She died because she gave birth to me!"

Hearing those words, Lei Yo's face turned pale.

"The only reason you did everything for me was out of guilt for her death." She finally could not hold it anymore and revealed the truth. "You felt guilty for giving birth to a bastard daughter!"

"Because you came into her life, she had to bear the burden of having me." She pointed at Kei'er while saying,. "She had to bear the torment, the torture, her mother, your wife, put her through."

Lei Yo was silenced from the moment she spoke; he could not say anything. He allowed her to say everything she had to say before replying.

"I did not realize what your mother was going through until it was too late. But despite everything that happened to you, Kei'er was never at fault." His voice was heavy with regret and self-blame.

"I am not sure if you will believe me, but I did everything that I did to protect you and keep you away from unwanted attention."

The two continued their banter, not even realizing that Noah and Xin Yan had vanished from the area.

Their next destination was an Immortal City named Great Expanse City.

Great Expanse City was one of the major financial hubs in the Quan Empire. It governs everything from the nine mortal towns they had visited before coming here to the Great Desolate Forest.

The products and goods that are procured from the desolate lands are brought to this place for sale.

Not only that…

"This city comes under the territory of one of the major righteous sects of the Quan Empire, a bordering empire to the Feng Empire ruled by Wuhan." Noah summarized the details about the place he had obtained from the memories of the last spy he had killed in the mortal town.

"Which sect?"

Xin Yan and Noah landed before the grand city that was on par with Golden Edge City in terms of appearance and size.

"Illusionary Lotus Sect." Noah decided to not hide himself this time since they were walking into an immortal city.

And instead of any identification, all he had to give was a few low-level spirit stones and bear a few stares from the people around them.

Even when Xin Yan had her face hidden behind a veil, she drew many glances because of her figure, much to Noah's annoyance.

"Should have sneaked inside here too," hearing his muttering under his breath, a smile appeared on Xin Yan's face behind the veil.

"How cute~"

Noah snorted before turning his attention to scanning the whole place with his soul sense.

At the same time, the two continued to walk through the city, looking around at the wares on the street.

"Are you missing her?" Out of nowhere Xin Yan picked a topic that made Noah almost trip on his way.

"Elysia?" He asked cautiously; he had a feeling that no matter how he answered, it would not end well for him.

But ignoring his deepest instincts, he replied with a smile.

"It would be a lie if I said no, but it was for her own good that she stayed away," he said, not noticing the subtle pause she made.

But he did not even realize that his next words saved him: "But even when the two of you are by my side, I cannot get enough of you."

He looked back; the intense emotions coming from his gaze made her heart skip a beat.

The veil could not hide the subtle blush that graced her cheeks.

"Hmph! She seemed to be in high spirits when she left to analyze the situation of the elves she had sensed before."

Others may not know, but she knew that Noah had sensed the unrest on the elven continent because Elysia had informed her of some of the things she had sensed.

They may not have known as many details as the elven priestess Sylvheriel had told them, but Noah knew that someone had overthrown the rule of the current king in the elven empire and several big changes were happening in that place.

Noah's expression suddenly turned solemn as he said, "But I worry about her. Those things on her body are not showing any signs of stopping, and we still have no idea what is happening to her."

Xin Yan pursed her lips and slowly hugged his left arm. "I am sure she will be fine. Whatever happens, we will be there by her side to fight off anything."

Noah saw the sincerity in her gaze, and with a smile, he wrapped his arm around her waist, causing her to blush.

"Excuse me there, miss." But like always, someone blind always feels like sticking their third leg in between others' business.

Noah turned to see a young man with a regal appearance holding a fan in one hand and a rose in the other approaching Xin Yan with what he thought was a charming smile on his face.
