Ghoul: Starting with Sharingan

Chapter 83: Disciple

"Hmm…"

This quest surprised Byakuya a little, as it aligned almost perfectly with his own plans.

Previously, he had thought of recruiting Furuta and Rize into Squad 0 after they grew older. However, the system seemed to want him to immediately take the two youngsters as his disciples.

The system seemed more eager than he was.

That said, this provided Byakuya with a solid direction. If he could successfully make them his disciples, it would still fulfill his goal.

In essence, whether it was recruiting them into Squad 0 or accepting them as disciples, the ultimate aim was the same: to free Furuta and Rize from the Washuu clan's control. Additionally, it would facilitate the gradual dismantling of the clan from within.

"Well, I doubt it'll be too long before we meet again" Byakuya added.

"Really? That's great!" Furuta said excitedly.

"Byakuya, could you bring me another doll next time? I accidentally played too roughly with the last one and broke it" Rize chimed in.

Of course, Rize's current name wasn't Rize yet, and she definitely didn't carry the Washuu surname. Otherwise, she wouldn't be in the Sunlit Garden. Her real name wasn't revealed in the original story either.

"Sure, but Rize, you should try to take better care of your things" Byakuya advised.

Since Rize carried the Washuu clan's bloodline, and hers was the purest, she was naturally gifted with a strong physique and kagune.

Her kagune was undoubtedly powerful. In the original story, Kaneki and later Furuta had her kakuhou transplanted into them.

However, Rize herself wasn't particularly impressive. She only focused on devouring humans, avoided cannibalism, and was betrayed by Furuta before she could fully mature.

The steel beams that fell on her in the original story? That was Furuta's doing. By then, he had already changed, no longer the simple boy he was now.

Years of mistreatment by the Washuu clan, combined with his inherently extreme desire for control, ultimately caused Furuta's drastic personality shift.

Furuta had gone to great lengths to help Rize escape the Sunlit Garden and the Washuu clan's grasp. Yet after escaping, Rize completely ignored him, focusing only on destruction and feasting.

Worse, Rize would seduce human boys, lure them into dates, and then brutally kill and devour them.

Unable to accept this, Furuta descended into madness — or more accurately, into despair over the world.

The falling steel beams incident wasn't just revenge on Rize. It was a calculated move to prepare for the ultimate "dragon transformation" which would allow him to reshape the world.

Like Arima and Eto, Furuta's true goal was to change the world, and he saw Kaneki, the most successful artificial half-ghoul experiment, as the key.

Compared to Arima and Eto, Furuta's actions were even more thorough. He not only overthrew the Washuu clan but also orchestrated the dragon transformation of Kaneki and Rize, ultimately reshaping the world with Kaneki's power.

"Got it" Rize nodded.

"I'll be off" Byakuya said, patting Furuta on the shoulder before leaving.

To him, Furuta wasn't simply a hero or villain.

Especially now, when Furuta was still just an earnest boy trying to overcome his circumstances.

After bidding farewell to Furuta and Rize, Byakuya went to find Arima, who had come to the Sunlit Garden with him.

When Byakuya arrived, he saw Arima patting the head of a pink-haired little girl, seemingly saying goodbye.

He recognized the girl as Hairu Ihei.

At this time, Ihei was still very young, about 6 or 7 years old. In the original story, this was when she first met Arima and began admiring him greatly.

Having her head patted by Arima felt like receiving praise from him, and Ihei's face lit up with a blissful smile.

Byakuya waited nearby until Ihei left happily before approaching Arima.

"Let's go. I need to report something to Mr. Kaiko" Byakuya said.

"Understood" Arima nodded slightly.

The two soon found Kaiko.

"Mr. Kaiko, I've taken an interest in two promising children. I'd like to take them as disciples and train them as reserve members of Squad 0" Byakuya stated directly.

"Which two?" Kaiko asked.

"Furuta and Rize" Uchiha Byakuya replied without hesitation.

"..."

Kaiko paused for a moment before responding. "Furuta is fine, but as for Rize, you'd better think it through. If anything happens to her, the Washuu clan won't let you off easily"

He didn't outright refuse, as Rize was officially a ghoul in the Sunlit Garden. By their public rules, there was no issue with Byakuya taking her as a disciple.

Rize's true identity as a 'womb' was known to only a select few, Kaiko included. He hadn't shared this with Byakuya or Arima, so his warning was intentionally vague.

"If anything happens, I'll take full responsibility" Byakuya said firmly.

"Suit yourself. But Rize's activities will be limited to the Sunlit Garden, CCG headquarters, and nearby areas. Furuta doesn't have such restrictions, but you should still be cautious" Kaiko advised.

By now, Kaiko found Byakuya increasingly trustworthy. Moreover, he knew that Byakuya had already interacted with Furuta and Rize several times, so this wasn't out of the blue.

Given Furuta's lineage as Tsuneyoshi's son and Rize's status as the purest Washuu ghoul, their potential was undeniable.

However, due to various circumstances, both were in lowly positions. Even Kaiko, a Washuu "puppet" raised in the Sunlit Garden, felt helpless about it.

"Understood. I'll come back tomorrow" Byakuya said.

Recruiting Furuta and Rize as disciples had been easier than expected. The only challenge was that Rize's activities would remain under the Washuu clan's watchful eyes — a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme.
