Ghoul: Starting with Sharingan

Tokyo, 24th Ward

Currently, the ghoul organization that virtually rules the entirety of the 24th Ward is known as "The Labyrinth."

The leader is called "The King of the Labyrinth," who also serves as the Ward's "Manager".

Due to the limited manpower CCG can dispatch to investigate the 24th Ward, and their frequent failures to make any progress, the ghouls residing in the area have no external threats. This has turned the 24th Ward into a chaotic region.

However, the lack of a reliable food source forces the ghouls in the 24th Ward to either take risks and hunt humans in other wards or resort to cannibalism.

Even though eating their own kind is revolting for ghouls, survival leaves them with no other choice.

As a result, the 24th Ward harbors many extremely dangerous ghouls, especially at the levels of Kakuja and Half-Kakuja.

Inside the Labyrinth Headquarters

"'The One-Eyed Owl,' huh...? That brat with just one kakugan—who would've thought they'd grow so strong, to the point of threatening us?"

"Tch... If it weren't for Noro interfering back then, I would've devoured that kid already."

"Though... something about her kagune and kakuja form reminds me of a certain someone. Someone... significant."

"..."

Several members of The Labyrinth were discussing the "One-Eyed Owl."

It was clear they had encountered her before, but back then, she wasn't yet known by that moniker.

By the time they realized her potential, she had grown beyond their ability to eliminate. Now, her organization, Aogiri Tree, posed a significant threat to their dominance.

At that moment, the leader of The Labyrinth, the "King of the Labyrinth" entered the meeting room.

The headquarters of The Labyrinth was a self-built stronghold. Stealing construction materials from human society was much less risky than hunting humans outright.

"Those Aogiri Tree bastards are likely preparing a large-scale offensive against us. Are you all ready?"

The King of the Labyrinth, Takashi Ishikari, wore a plain black mask without any patterns. A tall and imposing male ghoul, he addressed the member before him.

They nodded. "Yes, we've replenished our RC cells."

As expected, this replenishment came from cannibalism.

The rule of The Labyrinth in the 24th Ward had always been brutal.

"But besides the One-Eyed Owl, Aogiri Tree reportedly has a One-Eyed King. It seems it was this One-Eyed King who single-handedly breached Cochlea in the 23rd Ward. Their strength cannot be underestimated."

One of the members spoke with a heavy tone.

"Indeed, a formidable adversary. But our base is easy to defend and difficult to attack. We'll use the terrain to wear them down and make them regret ever challenging us!"

The King of the Labyrinth's kakugan gleamed ominously, his crimson eyes radiating a murderous intent.

Meanwhile, at the Aogiri Tree Base

Byakuya, under the guise of the One-Eyed King, appeared alongside Eto, ready to lead Aogiri Tree's combatants against The Labyrinth.

Not all members of Aogiri Tree were S rated ghouls or higher. Many B and A rated ghouls had joined their ranks, and Aogiri Tree welcomed any ghoul willing to fight for their cause.

Only A rated ghouls or higher were designated as combat members for this operation. Those below A-rank were instructed to remain at the base.

As for Roma, she was stationed in the 20th Ward. Byakuya saw no need to summon her back, as her combat skills weren't critical to this battle.

"Our King has finally made his appearance! This time, we'll surely take down that so-called 'Labyrinth!'"

"Wasn't it the 'One-Eyed King' who freed me from Cochlea back then? They breached the facility single-handedly, and we barely had to lift a finger. But I didn't get to witness the King's grandeur myself. Maybe this time, I'll have the chance!"

As Byakuya made his appearance, morale within Aogiri Tree surged.

The One-Eyed King had become a symbol of hope and strength for all its members.

Tatara, one of the senior leaders, reminded the group.

The ghouls responded respectfully.

However, an unusual sight caught their attention.

Eto was sitting on the shoulders of the One-Eyed King, a sight that drew curious glances.

This led to a flurry of whispers among the ghouls at the back of the formation:

"Looks like Eto and our King have a... special relationship. She's practically sitting on his head! Could they be related? Maybe father and daughter? Their titles, 'One-Eyed Owl' and 'One-Eyed King' do suggest something..."

"Nah, their kagune don't resemble each other at all. If they were related, their kagune would definitely be more alike."

"Then it's probably... something more intimate."

"Keep your voices down! If they hear you, you'll be dead meat!"

Eto heard the chatter but remained indifferent.

Deeper in the 24th Ward

As Byakuya and Eto led the Aogiri Tree combatants deeper into the labyrinthine tunnels of the 24th Ward, Eto suddenly leaped down from Byakuya's shoulder.

"My King, they're just ahead~"

Ahead lay a dark, shadowy expanse with faint glimmers of light in the distance—a clear indication of ghoul activity.

"Prepare for battle" Tatara whispered to the group.

Around a hundred combatants advanced.

Moments later, Byakuya raised his hand, signaling a halt.

The narrow pathway ahead was lined with walls made of kagune, but something about these walls seemed off. They were thicker and more ominous than the typical kagune fortifications elsewhere.

Suddenly, figures emerged from the shadows.

Several ghouls, clearly members of The Labyrinth, stood out with their distinct attire.

"I knew you'd come. We've prepared a little surprise for you. Let's see how far you can go!"

As one of member spoke, mechanisms seemed to activate. Heavy kagune walls extended from the sides, sealing the pathway.

The walls bristled with countless sharp spikes.

In the next moment, the spikes shot forward in a flurry—clearly a ranged attack from ukaku kagune!

However, Byakuya remained unfazed. His mangekyo sharingan activated, its spiraling design glowing ominously.

The countless spikes passed through his body harmlessly, not even leaving a scratch on his clothes.

This was the power of "Intangibility".
