Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 685: Clan Update

"Wait… That's only the 7th Mission…" Raze pointed out as she gestured for Shane to the rest of the list…

"Here… Look at the rest of the missions first. The next ones might interest you more than some foggy swamp."

[ Mission 8: "Wolves' Uprising"

Objective: Eliminate the pack of Undead Howlers closing to another Neutral Shelter.

Shane's brows rose slightly. "Howler Wolf? Upgraded version?"

"Yes… They probably mutated. We're no longer in the beginning phase of the Zombie Apocalypse. There's already a bunch of Zombie Lords and others… It's not surprising that the Zombies have evolved by now." Raze muttered.

"That's true…" Shane agreed as it made sense that the Zombies had already evolved to match the strength of the high-level Survivors.

"But two other Clans around us had similar missions targeting these Howler Wolf Zombies… They were reported casualties. These Wolf Zombies are quite special. Their claws can slice through Tier 3 and Master Grade Armor… Only those Tier 4 or higher should deal with them." Raze muttered.

"Two other clans? Do we have a neighbor now?" Shane asked.

"Ahh… It's the third and fourth shelter they own. They're from the Crimson Wake and Black Iron Clan. They should be Rank 17 and Rank 18 in the Fourth Zombie Wave."

Shane nodded as he recalled the two clans in the rankings. He didn't know that they actually created a shelter nearby. It was probably due to trade, or they found resources they could mine.

"Anyway… This mission must be done by a party, right?" Shane narrowed his eyes.

"I can probably give them a set of new Tier 4 Items. I looted quite a lot of set items just today." Shane added.

"That's good to hear… As you can see, it's been classified as High Threat," Raze added. "It will be better if we're the ones to eliminate all these wolves. Although there wouldn't be any penalties if we couldn't complete it, it's better to get the rewards."

"That's true…"

Shane nodded as he glanced at the 9th mission.

[ Mission 9: "Moonlit Mystery"

Objective: Investigate the Lunar Graveyard where several humans and zombies alike have vanished during the full moon.

Threat Level: High

Location: Northern City Ruins

Details: Unknown creatures or enemies. Avoid full moon exposure.

Rewards: Zombie Cores ×80, Power Cores x10, Mystery Weapon Blueprint, Clan EXP +700, Clan Skill Proficiency +40

Completed: 0/1 ]

Shane tilted his head as the image of a graveyard was shown on the board.

"This… Do you think it's related to the Vampires?" He murmured.

"Although we should've killed that guy already… That Vampire Lord must have companions or something." Raze replied. She was also thinking that it was related to Statham, considering the setting of the mission.

"Well, the reports mention illusions, reanimated corpses of previously buried survivors, and even 'mirror doubles' of the scouts themselves. So it might be related to a Necromancer as well."

"That made sense… They're the ones who would target both humans and zombies after all." Shane replied.

"That's right… Or something pretending to be them." Raze sighed.

Leaving it aside, Shane finally turned to the last mission

[ Mission 10: "Return of the Lords"

Objective: Intercept and destroy a mobile force of the Zombie Lord and its followers.

Threat Level: Severe

Location: Mount Glaze

Known Targets:

– Jules the Skinner ( Zombie Lord )

– ??? ( Unknown Elite Unit )

Estimated Forces: High-Tier Mutations

Rewards: Zombie Cores ×500, Gold Clan Treasure Chest ×1, Title Advancement Token, Clan EXP +1500, Clan Skill Proficiency +70

Completed: 0/1 ]

Raze then looked at the mission. "This one's why I wanted to talk to you personally."

Shane's face hardened the moment he saw the name. "Jules, huh…"

"Yeah. The Skinner was spotted again. I heard from Cloud that Ken the Skinner was already eliminated… Thanks to that, we should know how to deal with another Skinner Zombie Lord… We only have to be wary of the unknown Elite unit.

Shane stared at the mission for a long moment as he noticed the Title Advancement Token. It was definitely a great item that he shouldn't miss.

However, he wasn't that desperate to obtain it since he already had decent Titles as well.

"A gathering of Zombie Lord and its followers, huh… No wonder it's a Severe Threat. It's not bound by its Territory. Someone must've failed to kill it and escaped."

Raze nodded grimly. "I agree. Though I'm not sure where they are planning to go. It's better if we can eliminate them before they cause more problems.

Silence lingered between them before Shane spoke.

"You can assemble a team… I will prepare some items they can use to deal with the Zombie Lord. It's better if some other members could also eliminate a Zombie Lord. It will help them grow." Shane said.

Shane and Raze then continued talking about their plans to eliminate the Skinner Zombie Lord. Although Shane could probably do this mission with fewer members and minimal risk, Shane believed that it would be better if more members of his clan had experience dealing with Zombie Lords.

As the two finalized their plans, the main hall doors creaked open with a gust of cold air. Soon, boots stomped as a group of Survivors entered the Clan Hall..

A group of six returned with their coats damp. They had expressions of exhaustion, but they could also see the triumph in their faces. They must've succeeded in their mission.

Shane and Raze turned to see them approaching the reception table near the mission board.

"Looks like the Bonefire team's back," Raze noted.

She was referring to Mission Six, called Bonefire Gathering. The mission objective was to secure 40 Spirit-Ember Bones from graveyards now overrun by Tyrant Zombies.

The lead among them, who had a torn sleeve and a bandaged arm. Seeing Raze, he immediately gave a tired wave. However, he soon realized that beside Raze was a familiar figure similar to many monuments or statues in the Shelter.

"Ahh… Lord Shane is here as well. Ahem… I'm reporting for completion of Mission Six," he called out. "Secured forty Spirit-Ember Bones, all tagged and stored."

As soon as the items were given to the receptionist, Shane confirmed that the 1 out of 5 changed to 2 out of 5 in the Mission List.

Behind him, a slender woman with white-blonde hair carried a long spear wrapped in dried vines.

Beside her was a teenage boy with dirtied clothes and a curved blade strapped to his back.

One of them limped slightly, but all were intact.

Shane stepped forward. "Good work."

The leader was happy to see their Clan Leader and nodded. "Those Tyrant Zombies were no joke. We nearly got pincered near the outer graves. One of them exploded on death—some kind of volatile mutation. It was weird, I thought only Spitter Zombies explode."

Raze blinked. "A Tyran Zombie Exploded?"

"Yeah. Didn't show any signs at first. But once it got down to its last few hits, it bloated and released some kind of fire and rotting gas."

The woman beside him spoke up... "We looted their blood and other parts; if someone wants to analyze them, you might find out what's causing the mutations."

Shane gave her a nod. "I think it's necessary to do so. Raze, I'll let you handle it."

"And Commander," the leader added, "if you're taking a team to some other missions, we'll be ready in no time. Just say the word."

"I'll keep that in mind," Shane said with a glance toward Raze. "Rest first. Clean up. The manor's medics are expecting you. You have to get yourselves checked in case you got infected by the Virus unknowingly. It's better to know about it early."

As the team then turned toward the rest area, Raze smiled.

"They're quite a decent team. Their team was recruited from my Rare and Exceptional Recruitment Stones."

Shane gently nodded.

He knew that Raze and many others also obtained 30 or more Recruitment Stones, so it wasn't surprising to find decent recruits among them…

After this, Shane couldn't help but feel curious about the current state of their Clan. After some thought, he turned to his Clan Status.
