Going Digital

The group continue walking until they finally reached the base of Logic Volcano.

"We're finally here." said Lincoln as he takes a sip of the water he brought with him.

"Let's hurry up and find this Taomon guy so we can get back to our world." said Rusty as he wipes sweat from his brow.

"Assuming that he actually knows how to do so." said Clyde.

"We can only hope." said Lincoln.

"Yeah, well, standing around here isn't going to get us answers faster." said Stella.

"Yeah, let's just go." said Zach. The group enters the volcano through a tunnel leading inside and were met with intense blistering heat.

"Man, going from desert heat to volcano heat is like walking by a fire then jumping into it." said Elecmon.

"Tarnation, it's hot in here." said Liam.

"Well, it is a volcano." said Stella. The group continues down until they reach the inside of the mountain to see a bridge with yin yang symbols on it, leading to a stone platform that has natural stone bridges leading to other platforms; and their were also flat stones that flashed random, single-digit, numbers, sitting on rock spires.

"Now where exactly is Taomon here?" asked Gaomon.

"I don't see any signs or anything like that." said Zach.

"Just those stones with flashing numbers." said Rusty.

"Well, let's just start looking." said Lincoln.

"Yeah, before we melt." said Zach. They cross the bridge they first saw over to the first stone platform and see a small, purple, bipedal Digimon with yellow wings, spiky fur and ears, an x-shaped scar on its forehead, and a hammer-like tail.

"What's that Digimon?" asked Clyde. Liam takes out his Digivice and points it at the Digimon.

"That there's Gumdramon; it's a Rookie Level, Mini-Dragon Type, Vaccine Type Digimon; it's special attack is Ran-gum Break." said Liam.

"Maybe it knows where Taomon is around here?" suggested Lalamon.

"Let's ask and find out." said Lincoln. The kids approach the Gumdramon, getting its attention.

"Humans? Here?" said Gumdramon when he sees the kids.

"Hey." said Lincoln. "Do you know where Taomon is around here?"

"He has a place of meditation further up the volcano." said the Gumdramon as he points to a gateway. "If you're really going to see him be careful, he has a lot of strong Digimon guarding the path to test the worthiness of travelers who seek his wisdom."

"How strong are they?" asked Rusty.

"Taomon wouldn't have weaklings guarding his sanctuary." said the Gumdramon.

"Say no more." said Kudamon. "We'll be ready for a fight in case we run into some of them."

"Then have a safe journey, and be careful not to fall into the lava." said Gumdramon as it looks down into the rivers of magma, making the group nervous.

"Good advice." said Stella.

The kids start making their way up to the higher levels of the volcano, all while being very careful not to fall into the lava. Zach looks over at Gotsumon next to him.

"Are you okay in this heat?" asked Zach.

"I don't mind it." said Gotsumon. "Being made of rock has its advantages."

"Man, I hope it's worth risking our lives finding this guy." said Rusty.

"If he can help us get home, then it will." said Clyde.

"Yeah, I really miss my family." said Lincoln.

"We all miss our families." said Zach. The group soon reaches a stone platform and look around to see another path leading further up the mountain; as they walk towards it, they feel the ground they were standing on begin to shake.

"Oh, man!" said Lincoln. "Is the volcano going to erupt?"

"Lincoln, look out!" said Clyde as he points towards something to Lincoln's right, making him look to see a large, light gray, quadrupedal Digimon with dark gray armor plates going down its back, and on its knees; along with a plate of white armor on its belly, plus a blade-like horn; running towards the kids; making them move out of its path.

"What's that Digimon?" asked Zach. Rusty takes out his Digivice and points it at the Digimon.

"That's Monochromon; it's a Champion Level, Dinosaur Type, Data Attribute Digimon; its special attack is Volcanic Strike." said Rusty. The Monochromon looks towards the kids and growls.

"If you want to get to Taomon, then you'll have to prove yourselves by beating me!" said Monochromon.

"Can't we just talk this over?" asked Clyde. Monochromon answers by opening his mouth and launching a powerful flame shot at the group, making them scurry to dodge it.

"I'm guessing that's a 'no'." said Zach.

"You can't do that to our partners!" said Gotsumon as he and the other kids' Digimon run in front of them.

"We'll take this guy!" said Agumon.

"Fine, but be careful." said Lincoln. "I don't think there's much room here to fight recklessly."

"You got it!" said Agumon. All the kids' Digivices started to glow brightly.

"If this guy is as strong as Gumdramon said all Taomon's guards are, then we can't afford to hold back.' said Clyde.

"Yeah, let's do it!" said Rusty.

"But we should still be careful." said Stella as she and the others push the glowing buttons on their Digivices, making all their Digimon Digivolve to their Champion Level forms.

"Get that guy!" said Rusty.

"You got it!" said Leomon as he takes his sword and swings it at the Monochromon; but it gets blocked by Monochromon's horn.

"Tomahawk Slash!" said the Monochromon as it knocks aside Leomon's sword and slashes him with his horn.

"AUUGGHH!" shouts Leomon.

"Leomon!" shouts Rusty. GeoGreymon runs at the Monochromon from its side.

"Horn Impulse!" shouts GeoGreymon as he tries to ram his head into Monochromon's side.

"Slamming Attack!" shouts the Monochromon as he slams his entire body into GeoGreymon's torso, knocking him to the ground.

"GeoGreymon!" shouts Lincoln.

"Double Claw!" shouts Goagamon as he slashes at the Monochromon with his front claws, only to get blocked by its horn.

"Volcanic Strike!" shouts Monochromon before it breathes out a large fireball that hits Gaogamon and knocks him back.

"Be careful, Gaogamon!" said Clyde.

"Rock Punch!" shouts Golemon as he launches a punch at the Monochromon, but it blocks it with its horn as well.

"Tomahawk Slash!" said Monochromon as it slashes at Golemon's chest, barely scratching it, but still knocks it back.

"Golemon!" shouts Zach.

"Lion Claw!" shouts Reppamon as he wildly slashes at the Monochromon; unfortunately it blocks the strikes with its horn.

"Slamming Attack!" shouts the Monochromon as it hits Reppamon with the full weight of its body, knocking him to the ground.

"Reppamon!" shouts Liam.

"Cactus Tail!" shouts Sunflowmon as she swings her tail, releasing a bunch of thorns from it that hit the Monochromon, but it rolls itself into a ball that wraps its armor plating around its body, making the thorns bounce off it.

"Volcanic Strike!" shouts the Monochromon as it blasts Sunflowmon with a large fireball, doing damage to her.

"HOT! HOT! HOT!" shouts Sunflowmon as it bats the flames off her.

"Are you okay, Sunflowmon?!" asked Stella with concern.

"I'll be fine." said Sunflowmon as it puts out the last of the flames.

"Not for long!" said Monochromon. "Fiery Breath!" It opens its mouth and unleashes a large fireball at the kids' Digimon, causing an explosion that knocks them all down.

"Are you guys okay?" asked Lincoln. The Digimon struggle to get on their feet.

"We'll be fine." said GeoGreymon.

"We'll see about that!" said Monochromon as it charges at the kids' Digimon. Leomon jumps in front of it and blocks its horn with his sword; Golemon runs forward and helps Leomon hold Monochromon back.

"We gotta work together, guys!" said Golemon.

"Get it while we hold it back!" said Leomon.

"Let's get it!" said GeoGreymon as he, Gaogamon, Reppamon, and Sunflowmon run to the sides of Monochromon.

"Spiral Blow!" shouts Gaogamon as it releases a powerful vortex from his mouth.

"Sunshine Beam!" shouts Sunflowmon as she releases a beam of light from her face.

"Razor Wind!" shouts Reppamon as he shakes his blade tail, causing a blade of wind to come out of it.

"Mega Flame!" shouts GeoGreymon as he releases a large stream of fire from his mouth. All their attacks combine into a powerful beam of energy which hits Monochromon's side.

"AUUUGGGHHH!" shouts Monochromon as the blast sends it flying back.

"Lion Sword!" shouts Leomon as he swings his sword.

"Powerful Punch!" shouts Golemon as he throws a fist that's coated in energy at Monochromon, hitting it at the same time Leomon's sword does and sends it flying into a stalagmite where it drops onto its belly.

"Did we win?" asked Rusty. They all watch the Monochromon for a minute before it slowly starts to get to its feet, making the group huddle together.

"Be ready for anything, guys." said Lincoln. The Monochromon just stares at the group before walking off to the side and points his horn towards a rock bridge leading further up the volcano.

"I have lost." said Monochromon. "You have proven yourselves worthy to move forward."

"Really?" replied Clyde. Monochromon nods to confirm that they did. Not knowing what else to do, the group moves forward after their Digimon return to their Rookie Levels.

"What other Digimon does that Taomon guy have guarding his sanctuary?" asked Stella.

"And how strong are they?" asked Zach.

"I don't know." said Lincoln. "But we have no choice but to move forward."

"Let's go." said Rusty as he and the others continue making their way up the volcano. What other dangers await them as they make their way to Taomon's sanctuary?
