Chapter 280: Book 9: Part 6 – Ace & Amira Vs. Lord Violet-Cloud
Not willing to waste any time, Amira's skin suddenly darkened until her whole body was jet-black before taking off like a speeding bullet after Kannal's pursuer.
At the same time, Lord Violet-Cloud explained that he didn't care if he really was the last son of the Viz Clan for daring to kill his disciple; he was going to enjoy ripping Ace apart.
Hearing that, as much as Ace desperately wanted to know what the man knew about the Viz Clan, he knew now was definitely not the time for questions, not that he would even get a response.
Ace barely had time to summon his Visual Manifestation before Violet-Cloud was on top of him, moving at a speed that Ace struggled to keep up with, his creamy-gold sword chopping down, aiming to split him in two.
Thankfully, as powerful as he was, in terms of skill, Ace was several levels above. He was able to barely block the strike using the force of the impact to put some distance between them.
Seeing that, Violet-Cloud's brows furrowed as he looked in the direction he had just sent Ace flying.
There were several things about that clash that caught his eye: the exquisiteness of the glaivesmanship and the purity of the flames that coated the glaive, but the thing that really took him by surprise was the glaive itself.
It had to be understood that his sword wasn't a mere High God Artefact. No, it was actually a sovereign artefact he had managed to earn many years ago.
Even if Ace was a High God who had managed to begin fusing all six laws together, as long as he wasn't a paragon and as long as he didn't wield a Sovereign Artefact, the moment their weapons connected, Ace's should've snapped in two or, at the very least, chipped.
He almost doubted himself, thinking that the glaive he was wielding was actually a Sovereign Artefact, and he scanned it incorrectly, but even now, as he focused on it through his Godrealm, he could clearly sense that it was just a Full God artefact.
Thinking to that point, a light of greed flashed across his eyes as he now had another reason to kill Ace.
Ace, who had been sent flying through dozens of buildings before finally coming to a stop, couldn't help but thank Heaven that he and Amira had connected their souls with the use of [The Dual Battle Tactics] before she flew off.
If not, he would've suffered more than just a few cuts and bruises. Still, for what he knew was just a casual attack to be so powerful, he understood that the difference between a 7-Star Seeker and a Commander-level expert was simply terrifying. Still, it only made his blood boil in excitement.
This would be his first true battle since arriving in the Celestial Realm, and he was looking forward to every second of it.
Unfortunately, excitement alone wasn't enough to fill the gap in strength. Even with Amira and his fused state bringing his strength up to the apex of 7-Star Seekers, Ace found himself completely and utterly overpowered.
Thankfully, just as it appeared that Ace was going to lose, Amira returned, having already dealt with all the High Gods chasing Kannal, marking the beginning of round 2.
It should also be mentioned that when using the [Dual Battle Tactics] Technique, the bond of Ace and Amira's souls as soul-mutates was raised to near inconceivable levels. They could feel the intention of the other on an instinctual level, allowing them to act without having to even think whilst complementing the moves of the other.
Their teamwork was the very definition of perfection, allowing them to gradually suppress Lord Violet-Cloud until he was virtually unable to breathe.
Violet-Cloud, as well as all the other powerhouses in the city, were shocked and speechless. The manner in which Ace and Amira fought was simply too enchanting. Many of them had no idea such a level of teamwork was even possible.
Violet-Cloud, now riddled with injuries, no longer had any thoughts of avenging his disciple or stealing Ace's Glaive. No, the only thing he wanted was to escape as fast and as far away as physically possible, but he couldn't find the space or the room.
In the end, he was forced to use a drop of Sovereign's Might. As an expert in the laws of Destruction, a drop of Fate Sovereign's Might wasn't the optimal choice, but it was still able to boost his power several times over, allowing him to not only force the married couple back but even give him an opportunity to counterattack.
Unfortunately, before he could finish Ace off, Ace replied in kind, bringing out a drop of Sovereign's Might of his own and absorbing it. But where Violet-Cloud's Sovereign's Might didn't match with his own Edict, Ace's did.
The moment Ace absorbed the Sovereign's Might, his power was boosted straight to the level of a Commander-level expert. In fact, his current individual power wasn't far off Violet-Clouds, and if that wasn't enough, because of their fused state, Amira's power was also boosted to that of a peak 7-Star expert.
Violet-Cloud instantly found himself suppressed even more thoroughly than before.
In the distance, the branch manager of the KSC – Lord Reglurin – who, like everyone else, was watching the fight, was astounded by what he was witnessing, but unlike the others, what had him so amazed was the fact that Ace was able to completely control the power of his Sovereign's Might without so much as an ounce of leakage.
A feat like that should be impossible by deities. Even the most powerful of commander-level experts more powerful than Violet-Cloud were incapable of such a thing. The energy contained in every drop of Sovereign's Might was simply too overbearing.
Aside from Sovereigns themselves, the only ones capable of that level of control were paragons who were able to control it with their Willpower, but it was clear that Ace, despite being closer than most to that level, was still some ways away.
The only thing he could think of that even began to make sense was that it was a unique ability of his Visual Manifestation.
Everyone who knew of the Vis Clan knew that although there were strong and weak Visual Manifestations, the strong ones were genuinely heaven-defying.
But if that really was the case, then it would mean that Ace's Vis Bloodline was even purer than he had originally believed, but that in and of itself didn't make sense.
If Ace's Manifestation had really reached that level, then he should be able to fuse with his manifestation to increase his power even further (Like Amira), but since it's still being used as a manifestation, that clearly wasn't the case, unless he was still hiding his power.
But that still didn't make sense; if he were trying to hide his power from the Vis Clan's enemies, he never should've revealed his Manifestation in the first place.
The more he thought about it, the more Reglurin felt confused – nothing seemed to be adding up. The only thing he was sure of was that Ace was destined to cause no small number of waves in the future.
What he never would've guessed was that Ace's ability to control Sovereign's Might really didn't have anything to do with his Visual Manifestation but his innate ability to manipulate his Willpower, granted by his Haki.
Even though Ace wasn't supposed to use his Willpower unless it was a last resort, because his Willpower was stored in his spiritual body, just like his Visual Manifestation, Beirut confirmed that not even a Sovereign would be able to see the truth of the situation, and like Reglurin, would be forced to believe it was an ability of his Visual Manifestation.
In the end, because of his inability to control his Sovereign's Might, Violet-Cloud ran out faster than Ace and Amira, at which point Ace managed to easily kill the Lord Prefect, choosing to ignore the man's pleas and threats.
Ace and Mira were just about to leave to catch up with Kannal and return to the others when they were approached by Reglurin.
But between the fact they could sense he was just at the level of an average 7-Star Seeker and that he wasn't radiating any hostility, they chose not to attack.
Seeing that the couple didn't choose to see him as an enemy, Reglurin couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
He then introduced himself before asking them if they wished to come back to his branch of the Knowledge-Seeking Corporation.
Ace and Mira were hesitant, but they knew that this was the perfect opportunity to get some information, so they accepted.
Ace and Mira introduced themselves using their real first names but using the Vis surname instead of Gol D and revealed that they were from a Material Plane, having only ascended a little over ten years ago.
Hearing that, Reglurin nodded, understanding that if that was the case, no one having heard of Ace's made sense. The only thing Reglurin wanted to know was which power and which Material Plane the couple originated from.
Unfortunately for him, Ace and Mira had no intention of revealing that. Although with Sovereigns like Beirut, Bluefire, and Ismarelda there to hold the fort, they knew their families would be safe as the strongest expert that could descend was a paragon; they didn't want to take any unnecessary risks.
When Ace asked if Reglurin knew of any angels or anyone with any connections to an angel, Reglurin shook his head. The only angels he knew of were the Divine Light Planes Angel Army, but they weren't true angels; they were artificially created.
Amira couldn't help but be disappointed, but she never expected to find answers so quickly.
