"Two..."

In the cockpit, Mikazuki mumbled expressionlessly. He actually didn't know that his voice could be heard by those outside.

Because the Barbatos's external public communication channel had somehow been opened.

More than that, Mikazuki was more surprised by Barbatos's current performance. As Orga had said, it was truly several times stronger than the first time he piloted Barbatos.

Barbatos's movements seemed to respond to his excellent state.

Mikazuki's lips curled up involuntarily as he stared at the remaining two targets.

The two remaining GINN units watched the demon-like mobile suit in horror.

The pilot of one of the GINN units was an elderly Red Coat elite, who gnashed his teeth in hatred.

"What's with that mobile suit? What faction does it belong to?!"

"What do we do? Let's retreat first. The higher-ups should understand."

The younger pilot was clearly scared. Barbatos's actions just now were too bizarre. It appeared out of nowhere; not only did the radar show nothing, but its propulsion and weapons were too strange! It took out two Red Coat piloted GINN units in the blink of an eye.

Those were Red Coats! The elite of the elite in the ZAFT military. Only ace pilots could wear red. Their piloting skills went without saying.

And now, the Red Coat captain was instantly taken out at the start, and the vice-captain met a tragic end after the opponent showed off its performance.

The older pilot cursed angrily,

"Idiot! We are Red Coats! Do you think we'd be forgiven if we just retreated like this?

And don't forget, this mission is to kill Lacus Clyne. If we return without completing the mission, and Lacus Clyne reports this assassination attempt on Earth to her father,

They'll easily trace it back to us. Facing a military tribunal would be the least of our worries, but only if we live long enough to face one!"

The young pilot shivered, imagining the outcome he described. The phrase "military tribunal is the least of our worries" was no exaggeration.

One must remember that this was an assassination order issued by Patrick Zala, one of the twelve members of the PLANT Supreme Council and ZAFT's Defense Committee Chairman.

If their mission failed, and Patrick Zala found out Lacus Clyne was still alive, then they would be the ones to die.

"Then... then what should we do?"

"Hmph, he only defeated the captain and Aiasen by luck. Don't be afraid.

Alright, I'll engage him, and you take the opportunity to destroy that vehicle."

The young pilot nodded.

"Okay."

As the two of them communicated, the ever-vigilant unknown mobile suit moved.

To be precise, it vanished. Its speed was so fast that the GINN's sensors couldn't fully track it. The older pilot looked around nervously.

"Where did it go?"

A desperate scream from the young pilot resounded in the comms.

"Senior, it's above! It's above!"

"What?!"

The GINN quickly looked up. The vast blue sky held a large sun, and a black dot appeared from the center of the sun.

The unknown mobile suit descended from the sky. Its backpack thrusters accelerated its descent. The mace was held in front, its tip glinting with a cold light.

The threat of death approached. The older pilot tried to maneuver his GINN to dodge, but it was too late. Barbatos's descent speed was simply too fast.

Boom!

Everyone only saw the top of the mace hit the GINN's head, and then a thick cloud of dust billowed up, followed by a huge explosion within the dust, scattering the obscuring particles.

Lacus lowered her arm, staring blankly at the mobile suit standing beyond the flames. Barbatos's appearance was deeply etched into everyone's minds, a moment of profound shock.

Lacus's subordinate, also a Red Coat elite, was equally astonished by the scene before him.

They knew the caliber of the pilot chasing them.

Red Coats, the top elites in the ZAFT military.

Yet, they had no chance to fight back against this mobile suit. The unknown mobile suit's voice came through again.

"Three... And... the last one..."

"No... No, don't!"

The last remaining young Red Coat pilot was now completely terrified by Barbatos and Mikazuki.

He had only recently joined the Red Coats, and this was his first mission. The captains and seniors had thought it was just a simple cleanup mission, so they brought him along. He himself thought the mission would be easy.

But who knew that such an unknown harbinger of doom would appear? His seniors were all killed before his eyes, completely unable to fight back.

He was scared. The lower part of his red pilot suit seemed to have a large dark stain. He had actually soiled himself in fear.

But he didn't care about his wet pants. He shakily operated his mobile suit, intending to escape, to get as far away from Barbatos as possible.

Just as the GINN turned, Mikazuki seemed to anticipate its escape. He stomped on the foot pedals, and blue flames erupted from the leg and back thrusters. As the GINN turned, Barbatos pursued it.

Mikazuki reversed his grip on the mace, sharply turning the thruster's direction downwards. Barbatos leaped high into the air, landing on the GINN's escape route, the mace in his reversed grip pointing behind him.

By the time the young pilot reacted, his GINN had already collided with the glinting mace of Barbatos, who was facing away from him.

"No, don't..."

Boom!

Another explosion.

"The last one..."
