Chapter 60: Chapter 59: Taking A Set! (Bonus Chapter!)

My bad for the delay.

So much going on irl right now, I thought I'd be enjoying some moment of peace from being unemployed but I guess God has another plan.

Anyway, enjoy the chapter!

---

The game raged on, the intensity building with every passing second.

The ball floated high in the air on Nekoma's side, and Daichi was sweating bullets as he tracked the movement of the players.

'This time... where...?'

Nekoma's players were all over the place, jumbled in a way that created a headache for the blockers. Daichi felt the pressure building in his chest as he tried to guess which direction Kenma would toss the ball.

The setter was always the key, but Kenma's subtle fakes made it nearly impossible to predict.

Even Kageyama was visibly tense. Sweat dripped down his temple as his eyes locked onto Kenma's small frame.

'Which one is it this time...?'

His mind raced, trying to anticipate the setter's next move.

Everyone on the court was thinking the same thing, nervously waiting for the ball to make contact with Kenma.

And then—

"Wha...!?"

Both Daichi and Kageyama's eyes widened in shock as Kuroo suddenly launched himself into the air.

The ball hadn't even been tossed yet!

Their heads whipped back to Kenma, who sharply flicked the ball toward Nekoma's captain. It sailed through the air, heading straight for his waiting hand.

"An A quick!?"

The two Karasuno players gasped in unison.

"Well well... I got you guys another surprise, Karasuno!"

Kuroo grinned as he connected with the ball, his hand sending it speeding toward Karasuno's court.

"...!"

But just as his smile appeared, it faltered.

"Huh...?"

His eyes widened in disbelief at the single hand looming across the net, stopping the ball dead in its tracks.

Kuroo's head snapped to the side, searching for the culprit.

He couldn't help but curse under his breath. "Please tell me you're taking illegal drugs, Tsunayoshi Matsumoto!"

"..."

It was Tsuna.

The guy didn't even responding at all as Kuroo just speechlessly stared at those twisted expressions as his mind raced, 'How is he able to react when he's only seen it for the first time!?'

POP!

The sound of impact echoed through the gym. The ball rebounded off Tsuna's hand with a sharp plop and shot out of bounds.

"Cover!"

Daichi's voice snapped everyone into action, their movements quick as they hustled to recover.

Among the, the one closest to the ball was Nishinoya as he bolted across the court, his eyes locked on the ball.

"...!"

He gritted his teeth, diving forward with every ounce of strength he had left. His outstretched arms met the ball, sending it back over the net as he shouted, "Asahi-san!"

Tension brewed as everyone in Nekoma was already moving, reacting without even faltering in the slightest.

And much to Asahi's surprise, they were already prepared!

"I might not be the ace, but..."

Asahi's voice rang out as he leaped toward the ball, his eyes locked on the two blockers in front of him. With every ounce of power he could muster, he shouted, "…you can't block me with only two people!"

BAM!

The ball slammed through the blockers' hands with a deafening crash, streaking toward Nekoma's court.

For a moment, triumph flickered in Asahi's eyes, but it quickly turned to shock.

"What a tough guy...!"

"..."

Kai reacted just in time, lunging forward with an awkward dive. His hands barely managed to pop the ball back into play, sending it shakily over to Karasuno's side.

"Nice save!"

Nekoma's players shouted in unison, quickly repositioning themselves for another rally.

Karasuno was on the move again.

The ball zipped across the court, back and forth.

They had lost track of how many turns they'd made in this rally. Each save, each spike, each block seemed more desperate than the last.

Sweat dripped onto the polished gym floor, mixing with the sounds of squeaking shoes and ragged breathing.

As the ball once again floated above Karasuno's court, a shadow darted across the court toward an empty net.

"...!"

Kageyama's sharp gaze shifted toward Hinata, who was already soaring into the air. A grin tugged at Kageyama's lips as he sent the ball flying with a perfectly placed toss, 'Finish it off, Hinata!'

"Whoa...!"

Hinata's eyes sparkled as the ball headed his way, but a hand loomed in front of him—Inuoka already had his arms stretched high for the block.

"Not again, Shoyo!"

Hinata didn't respond as his focus was totally locked onto Nekoma's court as he then mumbled under his breath, "That spot..."

In an instant, Hinata swung his arm, directing the ball past Inuoka's outstretched hands. It flew over the net and clearly going to land cleanly on Nekoma's side.

"...!"

Relief washed over Karasuno as they watched the ball flying down the court. Their expressions lit up with joy, the pressure of the rally finally lifting off their shoulders.

'Finally...' Daichi let out a long breath, feeling his tense muscles begin to relax. 'We can have a little rest!'

However—

A flash of golden hair darted into their line of sight.

"Kenma!?"

Hinata's voice broke through the momentary calm as everyone turned in shock seeing how Kenma's body twisted sharply mid-air.

He flew toward the ball, his arm reaching high for the save.

Plop!

The sound of contact echoed like thunder, shattering the quiet tension in the air.

"Ah..."

Everyone could only watch helplessly as the ball soared back over the net in a slightly awkward trajectory as they could tell it would land in a spot Karasuno knew no one could reach.

"...!"

Their eyes slowly widened in disbelief as they stood frozen, unable to react. The unexpected turn had caught them completely off guard.

But then—

A dark shadow shot into the air.

With a sharp leap, someone intercepted the dangerously low ball near the net. A left-arm swung fiercely, slicing through the tension.

CRACK!

The ball slammed into Nekoma's side with a resounding thud.

"..."

No one from Nekoma could react in time. They could only stare at the figure landing on the floor with a soft plop, completely stunned.

For a moment, there was silence.

"What...?"

Karasuno stared at the court, their breaths caught in their throats. The only sound was the echo of the ball hitting the ground before slowly, realization dawned on their faces.

"Tsuna!"

The name tore from their mouths in unison, their voices a mix of awe and exhilaration.

"He did that direct again..."

On the other side of the court, Kuroo stood frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Shit," Kuroo muttered under his breath, a disbelieving chuckle escaping as he rubbed the back of his neck.

His eyes were locked on Tsuna, who was grinning widely at them, which made him shake his head speechlessly.

The Nekoma's captain couldn't help but mumble, "What the fuck is this guy?"

The relief that should have come from Hinata's spike bypassing Inuoka's block should have left everyone unable to react.

But, against all logic, Tsuna moved as if he'd already seen the future, reacting to an insane save that Kenma had pulled off—something that not even Kenma's very own teammates had expected.

"..."

Kuroo stared at Tsuna in silence.

'Did he not trust his teammate at all?'

The thought lingered in his mind as it seemed to be quite possible. This perverted demon played alone as if the rest of his team wasn't needed.

"Truly, you don't disappoint me, Nekoma High...!"

Tsuna's words sent a chill down the spines of Nekoma's players. They could only stand there, staring at him in disbelief.

"This guy," Kuroo groaned, the frustration clear in his voice. "He certainly has a screw loose!"

It wasn't that Tsuna didn't trust his team.

'He somehow believed we'd make it, huh?'

It was that the demon expected them to pull off miracles and save the ball for him to finish it off himself!

Kuroo once again felt that the nickname their coach had given Tsuna was truly fitting as he shook his head. 'Truly... a perverted demon.'

He was now totally convinced that anyone who called themselves Rizz God couldn't possibly be normal. And now, the proof was staring him right in the face.

Then—

TWEEEET!

A sharp whistle sliced through the heavy atmosphere, snapping everyone's attention to the scoreboard.

25–23.

Karasuno had taken the set.

For a moment, nobody moved.

The game had felt endless, with rally after relentless rally. Both teams had pushed themselves beyond their limits, fighting like there was no tomorrow.

In such a stressful game, no one had even bothered to check the score—until now.

And now, the realization hit.

"Whoa!"

"We actually won the set from them!"

 "Finally!"

Karasuno erupted into cheers, their exhausted faces lighting up with joy. But it wasn't over yet, as they started to fight once again for the game.
