Chapter 82: Chapter 82- The Karaoke
The Karasuno players were cleaning the court for the game that would take place in a few hours against Ouginishi High School.
"Do you think Ouginishi High is strong?" Tanaka asked while sweeping the floor with a broom.
"I don't know... I've never heard anything about them, so I guess not!" Hinata replied.
"But we can't underestimate them. We also changed overnight with your arrival, so we need to be cautious because no one here wants to lose!" Daichi warned.
"Tsukishima... Asahi! Come here!" Ukai called, and the two players obeyed, walking over.
"You two are middle blockers, and since we aim to go to nationals, we'll inevitably need to defeat Ushiwaka. That largely depends on you two, as you'll need to sharpen your blocking skills to stop him. So, I'll help you improve your blocking," Ukai said.
"Sure..." Tsukishima replied, not seeming entirely convinced by Ukai's claims.
"Ouginishi High will be here soon!" Shimizu said as she entered the gym alongside Yachi.
After some time, the Ouginishi High players appeared at the gym door, wearing white jackets with green accents.
"Greetings!" Daichi shouted as all the Karasuno players approached them.
"Good game!" they all shouted in unison.
"The game is about to start. Let's get changed now!" Daichi said.
"Got it!" everyone shouted as they headed to where their jerseys were and began changing.
"Oh, Asahi-san, the hair tie in your hair looks awesome!" Nishinoya said, looking at Asahi's hair.
"It's true! You look way more like a pro player with it. It's cool!" Hinata chimed in.
"Yeah... I didn't expect you to want to change your look!" Tanaka said, still not wearing his jersey.
"Actually, the other day, Shimizu said I tie my hair too tightly and that I'd go bald," Asahi explained.
"Hey, Tanaka-san, why don't you bleach your bald spot to look like a full-on delinquent? It'd be stylish!" Tsukishima teased.
"Shut up! I'd change my style, but not like that!" Tanaka complained.
"Put on that jersey already, and let's play!" Daichi ordered, and soon the game began.
"Good game!" said the captain of Ouginishi High.
"Yes, it was a good game! I hope we can do it again sometime!" Daichi replied.
"That was fun, but those guys weren't strong at all!" Hinata said, laughing, as the scoreboard behind him showed 25-14 in the second set.
"Hey, don't be mean just because we're a strong team now! At least those guys didn't give up at any point!" Kageyama said.
"It was just a joke. I respect those guys!" Hinata replied.
After the Ouginishi High players left the gym, Ukai gathered the team.
"It was a dominant performance from us in both sets, but don't get too satisfied because the teams we'll face in Tokyo will be much stronger!... You're dismissed!" Ukai said.
"Hey, Hinata... are you sure Kiyoko-san agreed to come with us, right?" Tanaka whispered in Hinata's ear.
"Of course! See you tomorrow at 6 PM," Hinata said, giving a thumbs-up and leaving the gym.
The next day, on Saturday, Hinata followed his usual routine until around 4:30 PM, when he started getting ready.
"Well, it's just karaoke, so I don't need to dress up or anything," he thought. After taking a shower, he put on a white shirt, a black jacket, and jeans, along with a white cap.
"Mom, I'm heading out for a bit!" Hinata said.
"Alright, but don't come back too late!" Hana requested.
"Of course!" Hinata replied, leaving the house. This time, he walked because the karaoke place wasn't far from his home, so he was the first to arrive.
After a while, Tanaka, Kanoka, Nishinoya, and Yonezawa arrived together.
"Hello!" Hinata greeted them as they approached.
"Hello!" they all replied in unison.
"Where's Kiyoko-san? Are you sure she's coming, right?" Tanaka asked.
"I already told you she's coming!" Hinata said, slightly annoyed.
"Everyone's here... sorry for being late..." Shimizu said, appearing behind them in a plain black shirt and jeans.
"Alright, let's go in! I want to sing some songs!" Nishinoya said excitedly as they entered the karaoke place and headed to their reserved room.
"I think Noya-san should start since he's so excited!" Hinata said, handing the microphone to Nishinoya, who chose a song and started singing energetically.
"Noya, you sing terribly!" Yonezawa said, laughing as he took the microphone from Nishinoya and started singing the same song just as badly.
"Actually, you're both terrible. Let's show them how it's done!" Tanaka said to Kanoka. After changing the song, he started singing, though it sounded more like shouting, while Kanoka blushed.
"Come on, Kanoka... help me out!" Tanaka said, handing her the microphone. She did her best to sing, despite her growing embarrassment.
"Now it's your turn..." Kanoka said shyly, passing the microphone to Hinata.
"You go first!" Hinata said, smiling as he handed the microphone to Shimizu. She chose a slower song and started singing surprisingly well, leaving everyone shocked.
"Wow, you sing really well!" Hinata said, smiling.
"That was amazing!" Tanaka said, surprised.
"Your turn..." Shimizu said, a bit embarrassed by all the praise.
"Alright, here goes!" Hinata said, trying to sing the song Shimizu had chosen while reading the lyrics on the screen, but he sang just as badly as the others.
"Hinata, you can't say anything about us! You're terrible too!" Nishinoya said, laughing along with Yonezawa.
"ACTUALLY, I THINK HE'S EVEN WORSE!" Tanaka said, pointing at Hinata and laughing hysterically while Kanoka smiled.
"WHAT?! NO WAY I'M WORSE THAN YOU GUYS!" Hinata protested, looking indignant as he argued with Tanaka, while Shimizu watched him with a smile.
After a few hours of singing and having fun, the group checked the time.
"Our two-hour reservation is up. Let's leave before they charge us extra!" Hinata said.
"Alright, it was fun doing this with all of you and getting to know Kiyoko-san!" Yonezawa said energetically.
"Yeah... it was fun!" Kanoka said, smiling.
"Now let's head home!" Tanaka said as everyone started to leave, leaving only Hinata and Shimizu.
"I hope you enjoyed it because I was the one who dragged you into all this!" Hinata said, smiling.
"It was fun... thank you for inviting me," Shimizu said, looking at him.
"No need to thank me. It's the least I can do for how much you've done for the club, Shimizu-san!" Hinata said, smiling.
"Kiyoko..." the girl murmured softly.
"What?" Hinata asked, confused.
"Call me Kiyoko!" Shimizu said, looking serious.
"Alright, Kiyoko-san!" Hinata said, sounding cheerful.
"That's it! See you later!" Kiyoko said, but before leaving, she got close enough for him to smell her pleasant perfume and kissed him on the cheek before running off without looking back.
"Darn... seems like she really likes running off after doing things like that..." Hinata thought, standing still in front of the karaoke place in the middle of the street, lost in his thoughts until a man's voice snapped him out of it.
"Hey, kid!... You better get out of the street!" a man in a car said, honking at him.
"Sorry!" Hinata said, starting to walk home with a smile on his face.
