Chapter 186: Chapter 184: Bastard Father
Lorna appeared somewhat dazed, while Kino remained calm as he looked at the massive tornado.
"Her powers have awakened again? This one's a bit intense though."
It's known that a mutant's ability can awaken a second time.
The triggers can vary—from strong emotional stimuli to intense physical or mental training, environmental pressure, or even injections of enhancement drugs and Apocalypse's potential unlocking techniques.
Judging from Lorna's condition, it seemed to be triggered by emotional turmoil.
Kino activated his biofield to cover the entire area. From the outside, everything looked peaceful and calm. This wasn't the time for interruptions.

Beachside Villa
"Sir, we've detected a massive magnetic disturbance in the southeast direction, about—never mind, it's gone, sir."
Tony Stark flinched and scowled.
"Jarvis, I swear, I'm going to format your entire system!"
Pepper Potts sat up in bed, a little worried.
"That's the direction where Kino and Lorna left... and a magnetic disturbance? Do you think something happened?"
"Nothing's going to happen with Kino there. And if it does, a portal would've opened right in front of me by now... Anyway, that one doesn't count. Let's continue."
Tony pulled Pepper back into bed.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters
The alarm blared throughout the entire facility.
"Magnetic activity detected near New York... Wait, it just vanished?"
The monitoring staff were visibly confused.
"Magnetic field? Could it be Magneto?"
Nick Fury frowned.
"No, intelligence reports say Magneto is leading the mutants in Washington."
The technician pulled up the coordinates where the alert had triggered earlier—no anomalies, just an ordinary location.
Fury's expression was grim. He didn't believe for a second that it was a machine error. Something was definitely off.
"Send Rumlow and his team to investigate."
"Director, wait," Coulson interjected, "That spot is close to Stark's villa. We can pull up nearby surveillance cameras instead."
Fury nodded.
The footage was quickly retrieved.
And Fury's face darkened at the familiar figure shown on the screen.
The Demon King—Kino.
The one who had stolen Captain America and Director Carter from S.H.I.E.L.D.
Losing Steve was one thing; he was replaceable. But Carter had classified intel that forced Fury to constantly update their database and secure critical information.
Kino was the one individual he had absolutely no countermeasure for.
"Cancel the alert. Resume normal operations."
Fury rubbed his temples in frustration.
Everyone heaved a sigh of relief and returned to their posts.
Fury continued to stare at Kino's image on the monitor, deep in thought.

Washington, D.C.
Magneto suddenly looked into the distance.
"Die, Magneto!"
A tattooed man appeared behind Magneto in an instant while the latter was distracted and swung a punch toward the back of his head.
"You bastard, that hurts!"
Logan leapt in, taking the punch with his chest. A gaping hole appeared, revealing his metallic ribs.
With a glint of savagery in his eyes, Logan slashed his adamantium claws forward.
Splat!
The tattooed man fell back, clutching his severed arm.
"You mutant traitors—nothing but dogs of humanity!"
"Idiot."
Logan rolled his eyes and looked at the still-distracted Magneto.
"What the hell are you doing? This is a battlefield!"
"Sorry..."
Magneto snapped out of it. The magnetic signature he sensed earlier—he was sure it was Lorna's. He felt a surge of anxiety. He had no time for this fight anymore.
"Everyone, retreat!"
At his command, the Brotherhood of Mutants ceased fighting and began withdrawing with practiced coordination.
The X-Men and allied mutants hesitated for a moment but followed suit.
Some were reluctant.
"Why retreat? We were winning. Just ten more minutes and we'd have beaten them!"
The Brotherhood sneered.
"You think we're retreating because of them? Don't flatter yourselves."
Once they confirmed all their mutants were clear—
Magneto raised his hand gently.
Thunderclouds filled the sky.
But these weren't clouds—they were countless metallic weapons clumped together into a terrifying mass.
From above, Magneto gazed down coldly at the enemy forces.
"You have three seconds. Surrender—or suffer the consequences."
"One—"
"Wait! We surrender!"
The enemies dropped to their knees one by one. Not everyone had the courage to face certain death.
The battlefield fell into dead silence, broken only by Magneto's chilling voice.
He slowly lowered his hand. The metal cloud dispersed.
After instructing others to handle the aftermath, he quietly made a phone call.
—
Kino flew back toward New York with the unconscious Lorna in his arms.
Behind them, the small hill and nearby road had vanished without a trace. The ground was smoothed out like it had been carefully polished.
Lorna had clearly gained stronger abilities, but due to overexerting her mental power, she had passed out. It definitely had nothing to do with Kino... probably.
Before long, they arrived at the staff dorms.
Kino entered from the balcony, walked into the bedroom, and gently laid her down. He removed her shoes and socks, then carefully covered her with a blanket.
Ring, ring, ring...
Lorna's phone rang.
Caller ID: Bastard Father.
Old Man Erik—Magneto.
Kino glanced at the still-sleeping Lorna and answered, putting it on speaker.
Erik's uneasy voice came through.
"Lorna... I didn't mean to disturb you. I just wanted to check if you were okay. I sensed your magnetic field..."
"..."
"It's fine if you don't want to talk. Just knock once on the phone if you need me. Otherwise, just hang up—"
"Erik, it's me. Lorna is asleep."
Kino interrupted.
"...Kino?"
Magneto's face darkened. Lorna was asleep, but Kino answered her phone? His mind spiraled with unwanted thoughts.
If not for the demonic contract between them, he might have already lost it.
"What happened to Lorna?"
"She's fine. Her powers just awakened again, but she overused her mental energy. She's resting now."
"...Kino, she's still young..."
"I know. I didn't do anything. I just brought her back to rest."
Kino felt a little guilty. Things might have escalated due to him, even if indirectly.
"I understand... Kino, if you can, could you delete the call log after we hang up? Lorna doesn't like me bothering her."
The once-imposing Magneto was now nothing more than a father burdened with guilt.
Lorna's eyelashes fluttered slightly.
"She saved your contact as 'Bastard Father.' But she's never blocked you."
Kino didn't offer his own interpretation—he merely told the truth.
"Bastard Father... a fitting name," Magneto murmured, eyes reddening.
"After your mission, stay at the Demon Tower for a while. Learn from Charles. He's good with kids."
Kino said flatly.
"Thank you, Kino."
"Yeah. I'll be going now."
Kino hung up. Seeing that Lorna still hadn't woken up, he left a jar on the nightstand.
"Youth Serum. Girls deserve the best. Also, you really do smell nice."
With that, Kino vanished from the room.
Silence returned.
Lorna slowly opened her eyes, picked up the phone, and stared at the call record. Her expression was complicated.
"...Bastard."
She put the phone down and picked up the Youth Serum on the nightstand.
Opening it, she saw the milky-white liquid inside and smiled faintly.
But then she remembered how Kino had licked her neck, and her face turned crimson.
"...Pervert."
She bit her lip, hugged the serum tightly, lay back down, and pulled the blanket over her head.
Quote of the Chapter:"Even the coldest tyrant can melt before the warmth of regret and fatherhood."
