Chapter 3: The Alley with Hagrid
We walked in to see a pub full of older people.
Tom: "Ah, Hagrid! The usual, I presume?"
Hagrid: "No thanks, Tom. I'm on official
Hogwarts business today. Just helpin' young Harry here buy his school supplies."
'He had to say my name.'
The whole place went quiet.
Tom: "Bless my soul. It's Harry Potter!"
Man: "Welcome back, Mr. Potter. Welcome back."
A witch comes up and shook my hand.
Doris: "Doris Crockford, Mr. Potter. I can't believe I'm meeting you at last."
A man in robes with a turban on his head appears, and unfortunately it is Professor Quirrell.
Quirrell: "Harry P-potter. C-can't tell you how p-pleased I am to meet you."
Hagrid: "Hello, Professor. I didn't see you there. Harry, this is Professor Quirrell. He'll be yer Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts."
Harry: "Oh, nice to meet you."
'I wander if he'll touch me.' I put my hand out, he looked at it, but nervously refused.
Quirrell: "F-fearfully f-fascinating subject. N-not that you need it, e-eh, Potter? Heheh."
Hagrid: "Yes, well, mus' be goin' now. Lots to buy. Heh-heh-heh."
I smiled. "Goodbye. See you in class."
We walked to the back and through a door.
Hagrid: "See, Harry? You're famous!"
"I can see that, but why am I famous? All those people back there, how is it they know who I am?"
Hagrid: "I'm not sure I'm exactly the right person to tell you that, Harry."
He Taped the brick wall clockwise with his umbrella. The blocks then magically shift and open up to reveal a hidden, busy street.
Hagrid: "Welcome, Harry, to Diagon Alley"
I smiled at the sight as we step into the street and walk down it. An owl screeches, which made me look.
Hagrid: "Here's where yeh'll get yer quills and yer ink, and over there all yer bits and bobs fer doing yer wizardry."
We passed the broom shop.
"You guys ride brooms?" - "Some do. I have a feeling you will too. Father was heck of a flyer."
We continued to walk down closer to the bank. I decided it's about time I ask.
"Um, I haven't any money. I forgot to grab some."
Hagrid: "Well, there's yer money, Harry." He points to a tall, white, marble building, Gringotts Bank. "Gringotts, the Wizard Bank. T'ain't no safer place, not one. 'Cept perhaps Hogwarts."
We made our way inside. I seen the warning and smiled. I got a mental image of Harry, Hermione, and Ron busting out with a dragon in my head.
We continued in and a few Goblins stared at us.
"Uh, Hagrid, what exactly are these things?"
Hagrid: "They're goblins, Harry. Clever as they come goblins but not the most friendly of beasts. Bes' stay close."
'I'd love to fight some. I think it'd be fun.
We got to The head desk and Hagrid cleared his throat. "Mr. Harry Potter wishes to make a withdrawal."
The Goblin looked up from his desk. "And does Mr. Harry Potter have his key?"
"Yes." I reached into my pocket and moved my heir ring to grab my trust vault key.
"Right here."
Hagrid grabbed the key out of my hand. "How'd you have that, Harry?"
"Always have had it. So I don't know exactly where it came from.
Hagrid: "I see. Okay then." He whispered to the goblin. "Oh, and there's something else as well." He Takes out a letter wrapped in a string. "Professor Dumbledore gave me this." He handed the Goblin the letter. "It's about You-Know-What in vault You-Know-Which."
"Well, since you have to get something from Vault you-Know-Which. Why don't we separate and we can just meet back up here. That way we can get this part done as quickly as possible."
Hagrid: "I was told to not let you out of me sight." - "I'll be with a Goblin. I'll be fine. Just give me." I took the key. "This, and we can be on our way."
Hagrid looked at the goblin and the goblin said nothing.
Hagrid: "Fine. But meet me right back here when you're done." - "Of course. I'll be quick."
Goblin: "Okay then. Toothringer. Take him here." He handed him the note.
A goblin I know came out.
Goblin: "Take the kid."
I followed him down the hall a bit before a question was asked.
Tooth grinder: "Is it the trust vault we are going to?"
"Yes. I'd like to access my main vault, but you said I couldn't get in it till I was a adult." - "Unfortunately you are correct."
"Do you invest in muggle companies?" - "For a fee."
"Could you guys do that for me, from my trust?" - "For a fee."
I smiled. 'I might have to do that.'
"Do you guys have endless Pouches. And if you do. Can I have one." - "For a fee."
'Always a fee.' "I'd like one. Take it from my vault, or I can give it to you once we are inside."
He pulled out a brown pouch from his pocket.
"Thank you."
Once the vault door was open I looked at the heap of gold.
'I have loads of Gold in here. The movie doesn't do it justice.'
I looked off to the side to see a wand.
'That wasn't there in the movies.'
I walked up to it then carefully grabbed it. I grabbed the note under it and realized it's a wand made by the Peverells.
I looked at it close and felt the power within it. 'They must of tried to recreate the Elder Wand.'
I put it in my waist band then opened the pouch to shovel a decent amount in.
I closed the pouch and put it in my pocket.
"I want 500,000 thousand Gallons into the Firebolt broom company." 'Hopefully it's being made. That'll make me a good buck.'
Tooth Grinder: "You seem to have thought about this."
"Yes, and That leads me into a question. Who do I talk too, to convert Gallons into Pounds?" - "We will talk once we get top side."
I nooded then walked out and closed the vault door, then followed him back to the cart.
"I'll take it you are taking good care of my other vault, and properties?" - "Yes, of course. You payed, so we took care of them."
"Have you got my families house back yet?" - "The Government is really trying to keep it as a museum."
"Thanks. Give it a few months and we'll not have to be so discrete."
.
"I still need... a wand." 'Well, one that I can use. I want to keep my current one a secret.'
Hagrid: "A wand? Well, yeh'll want Ollivanders." he pointed to the store. "There ain't no place better. Why don't you run along there and wait. I just got one more thing I got to do. Won't be long."
Or, I can walk inside and get a wand so I can get home and look through these books I bought.
I walked in and seen no one, but heard him in the back. "Hello? Anyone here? Hello?"
I looked through the shelves and seen him shift into the open on a movable ladderz
Ollivander: "I wondered when I'd be seeing you, Mr. Potter."
"Here I am?" - "It seems only yesterday that your mother and father were in here buying their first wands."
"You knew my parents?" - "Slightly." He picked up a box. "Ah. Here we are." I took the wand from him and stared at it for a moment, then waved it at a box, with the intent of bringing them to me.
Multiple boxes flew out of there spot, but none to me.
Ollivander: "Apparently not." He took the wand from me, then went around the counter to hand me another. "Perhaps this." I grabbed it and this time I cleared my mind and just waved it.
The vase in front of me shattered.
'Well... interesting.'
Olivander: "No, no, definitely not! No matter." I put the wand on the counter and he goes to get a wand from a box but stops and becomes thoughtful. "I wonder..." he goes and gets a different wand then he first intended. He handed me the wand with a curiosity gleaming in his eyes. As soon as I touch it, I started to suddenly glow, my hair stared to blow up and several of the paperwork in the background flew around.
'Looks like I'm still destined for this wand.'
Ollivander looked a bit surprised and deep in thought. "Curious. Very curious."
"Sorry, but what's curious?"
Ollivander examined the wand in my hand. "I remember every wand I've ever sold, Mr. Potter. It just so happens that the phoenix, whose tail feather resides in your wand gave another feather, just one other. It is curious that you should be destined for this wand when its brother gave you that scar." He Points to the lighting bolt scar on my forehead.
"Now you've got me curious, who owned that wand?"
Ollivander slightly moved back. "We do not speak his name. The wand chooses the wizard, Mr. Potter. It's not always clear why. But I think it is clear that we can expect great things from you. After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things. Terrible, yes, but great."
With a bit of snap in my voice. "Are you saying a murderer. One who killed my parents, is great?" - "No, we'll yes. You see he did terrible, unspeakable things, but the things he did with magic is fantastic also." - "If you knew what he'd become, would you still give him his wand way back when?"
He put his hand on his chin. "Interesting question. That's not a easy answer for me. I'll have to get back to you on that.
Since you gave somthing to think about, the wand is free." He put a wand holster on the front desk. "And happy birthday."
I watched him walk to the back while thinking when I heard something bang against the window behind me.
I slightly jumped and turned around.
Hagrid: "Harry! Harry! Happy birthday!"
I looked at the cage in his hand to see a snowy white owl.
'Hedwig. I can't be Harry Potter without Hedwig.'
After I ordered my custom trunk, we made our way back to the pub, to get something to eat.
I sat there trying to figure out if I wanted to ask about Voldermort.
Hagrid: "You all right, Harry? You seem very quiet."
'Well. I guess that answers my question.
"Yeah... Maybe?.. No. He killed my parents, didn't he? The one who gave me this. You know, Hagrid. I know you do, please tell me.
Hagrid sighed and pushes his bowl away "First, and understand this, Harry, 'cause it's very important. Not all wizards are good. Some of them go bad. A few years ago, there was one wizard who went as bad as you can go. And his name was V-...his name was V-..."
I pulled out a paper and slid it to him. "Maybe if you wrote it down?"
Hagrid: "No, I can't spell it."
"Yeah, does sound hard to spell."
He took a deep breath and quietly said. "Voldemort."
I wispered. "Voldemort?" - "Shh!!" He looked around.
I looked around to, and seen no one look at us.
Hagrid: "It was dark times, Harry, dark times...Voldemort started to gather some followers, brought 'em over to the dark side. Anyone that stood up to him ended up dead. Your parents fought against him, but nobody lived once he decided to kill 'em." I closed my eyes and I swear I could hear Mom scream. "Nobody, not one. 'Cept you."
"Me? Voldemort tried to kill me? What did I do to him?" - "Yes. That ain't no ordinary cut on your forehead, Harry. A mark like that only comes from being touched by a curse, and an evil curse at that, and no one really knows why he went after you. But you did and survived."
"What happened to V." I stopped. And changed my wording. "To You-Know-Who?" - "Well, some say he died. Codswallop in my opinion. Nope, I reckon he's out there still, too tired to carry on. But one thing's absolutely certain. Something about you stumped him that night. That's why yer famous. That's why everybody knows yer name. You're the boy who lived."
I mumbled. "I wish I wasn't. I wish I had my mother."
Hagrid: "What did you say Harry?" - "Nothing."
I have all the first 4 years of memories for this body, and even though I have memories of a past life which help, I still wish I got to have Lily as my Mother. I'm unsure about James, I have a father.
.
After we finished eating which was mostly in silence, Hagrid drove me back to the new house.
Hagrid: "Now remember to be at the train on time. It won't wait. 9 3/4 remember that number 9 3/4."
"I got it. Thank you."
I walked inside to find Mum Maria in the kitchen. "How was your trip."
"Great. But I'll have to go back in a week. I'm having a trunk made." - "Is there something special about it?"
I smiled: "Yes. Can you imagine that I can have a trunk that has enough space on the inside to build mansion and have acres of land." - "Really?"
"Yeah. Cost a fortune, but my blood adopted side of the family was rich, and I inherited it all." - "It's like you are made to be rich." "Seems like it. Is everything set up for me to do regular class while at Hogwarts?" - "Yes." "Fantastic." - "How are you planning on being in two places at once again?"
I smiled as a Parallel existence clone morphed out of me. "It's what I call a Parrallel Existence clone. It has all my memories and all of that. Heck, it's such a cool ability that as long as one of my clones exists I can never truly die. He will go back with you to go to college while I stay here." - "Magic is a amazing thing isn't it."
"Do you ever wish you got the gene?" - "I don't really think about it to much, but when I do... yeah, it would be interesting. That and do to me not having Magic my family line died out in the magical world."
"And dads?" - "Well, it wouldn't be that hard for you to go to the American branch and reactivate it. But until then. Yeah."
I sat down at the table and thought about it.
Maria: "Oh, by the way, after we get your trunk you are going to the Grangers. It's already been talked over, we will be going back to the states then."
"I see. I never told you exactly when I need to get my trunk." - "I know. We will just send you over after. It's fine."
