Chapter 5: I don't back down
Later as everyone is leaving for the dorms.
McGonagall: "Potters! Can you please come here!"
"That's..." - "Not unexpected."
We walked up to the professor's table to stand in front of her.
McGonagall: "Do to your unexpected circumstances, we have to make other arrangements by law for you guys."
Hermione: "What do you mean?" - "Follow me and I'll explain."
We walked out of the hall. "Normally we only have to do this for 7th or 8th years, but if a set of students gets married we are to put them in a joint room to help them better get to know each other." She looked at us. "I'd rather not with you two so young. But you two did this."
"How. Why do you think we are married?" - "Because by the will of Magic you are."
Hermione: "What did we do to make Magic think that?"
She pointed at the ring on Hermione's finger. "That ring. If a heir or head of a house gives the family ring to a willing and agreeing woman, magic accepts it and pronounces them married. You two should be careful with what you do. Everything has consequences. Especially in the magical world."
I grabbed Hermione's hand and kissed the ring finger.
"Noted."
When we got to the Gryffindor dorms we walked in behind her and she went off to the side in the common area and knocked on the wall in a certain way then a door formed.
McGonagall: "This is your guys' room." She lingered her stare at me. "Don't do anything. Stupid." Then she walked out.
I opened the door and waved inside. "After you."
She smiled and put one arm around my neck. "Carry me. If this is to be our wedding night. Carry me over the threshold."
I rolled my eyes and picked her up in a princess carry, then walked in.
I sat her down shortly inside and was in awe.
Hermione: "This isn't just a room. It's a whole darn apartment. It has a kitchen and everything."
"Well, this world is stuck in the past. My guess is it's there so the wife can cook for the husband."
She tapped my nose. "Don't expect that. Not yet at least."
"I love your cooking. I quite miss it to be honest." - "Don't know what to tell you."
"Had to try."
Later into the night, once Hermione went to sleep I walked into my trunk, then to my workshop.
I sent out 10 drones that look like mice.
"Go map the school."
The drones ran off towards the door.
I pulled up a new file. (Model 24.)
Viv: {My AI.} "Are we working on the suit, sir?"
"Yes. I need to finish it by December. I want to try and add my magic to the suit." - "Pulling up all scans from your books."
.
The next day I was sitting in front of Hermione in Transfiguration class when Ron busted in. "Whew! Made it! I can't imagine the look on McGonagall's face if she caught me being late?"
I cleared my throat to catch his attention. He looked at me and I pointed at the cat.
She jumped off her desk in cat form. By the time she got in front of him, she was in human form.
Ron: "That was bloody brilliant!"
McGonagall: "Thank you for that assessment, Mr.Weasley. Perhaps, it'd be more useful if I were to transfigure you a pocketwatch. That way, you might be on time."
Ron: "I got lost."
McGonagall: "Then perhaps a map? I trust you don't need one to find your seats."
He sat down next to me and whispered. "Why didn't you wake me?" - "I tried. You hit me."
He looked sheepish. "I did?"
I just shook my head and explained what we were doing.
.
The next day, I'm sitting in Potions class waiting to see how Snape will react to me when he walks in like he owns the place. "There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few..." He looked at Draco, who smiled. "Who possesses the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper... in death."
I figured out how to feel around the room with my magic So as I'm taking notes, I can feel Snape glare at me. "Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough... to not... pay... attention." Hermione nudged me and wispered. "Don't do this."
I smiled. 'And it worked.'
I looked up at him and he walked closer to me so he can speak to me more properly. "Mr. Potter. Our... new... celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Hermione looked at me pleading.
I mouthed. "I have too."
"You don't know?" - "No sir. I do. It's A sleeping potion that is so powerful it's known as the draft of living death."
He looked mad. "Well, let's see if you know this. Where, Mr. Potter, would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" - "Can you be more specific?" - "What do you mean by more specific? Do you not understand the question?" - "No sir. I do, but I need you to be more specific. Because if you're asking where I'd get a Bezoar right now, I'd ask you for one. Because as a great Potion maker, you should always have one as it can save you from most poisons. But if you don't have one, then I'd go to a potions shop to see if they have one. Then if for some reason they don't have one. I'd have to find a goat and take it from its stomach."
I sensed his magic flow rapidly through his body then something touched my mind.
I looked away from his eyes, but still watched him. I think I can see a vein about to pop in his forehead.
Snape: "Okay. What's the difference between Monkshood and Wolfbane?"
"Well, Professor Snape.. Nothing. It's the same plant, and it also goes by the name Aconite.
If I may. Can I ask why you are asking questions from the Year 2 potions book?" - "You may not."
He stormed up to his podium. "Well. Why aren't you copying that? And Gryffindors, note that five points will be taken from your house... for your Classmates' inability to stay within their year."
"I've recorded this, and I'm letting you know now, that I'm giving it to McGonagall."
He glared at me, but turned away and said nothing.
After class I went to McGonagal to explain my side of everything and gave her a copy of the recording. Then after that I left and went on with my day.
The next day during breakfast McGonagall walked up to me. "Professor Dumbledore would like to see you in his office after you're done."
"Of course."
Ron: "Do you know what that's for?"
Hermione: "I told you not to. You had to mess with him.
"You know just as much as I, that this will go in my way, one way or another.
Oh, and I think you should pay attention to Snape. It might be funny."
About 15 minutes later Snape yelled as he grew bat wings and fangs. His eyes also turned red.
"Ew. Now he truly looks like a brooding Vampire."
The whole hall burst out laughing. I turned around and looked to my right to see Hermione once again glaring at me. "Why'd you do that?"
"I'm not saying I did. But if I did. All I can say is he shouldn't have tried to make me look foolish."
I looked back at Snape while watching Hermione with my magic. My smile became even bigger as I sensed her smile.
After everything settled down and everyone was done with breakfast I made my way to Professor Dumbledore's office.
After I knocked on his door I poked my head. "You asked for me?" - "Of course. Come in."
I walked in to see Snape glaring at me behind Dumbledore.
I sat down and didn't dare to look at Dumbledore or Snape in the eyes.
Dumbledore: "So what is this complaint you sent in about?"
"I thought the audio explained it all. It shows that Professor Snape tried to make me look foolish or dumb I don't know what he was aiming for.
But by asking me those questions it it was quite obvious it was something.
But when I could answer them, he decided to punish me by taking points from the house for no reason." - "Well, now. That's not what I heard."
"Then maybe I need to give you another recording, because that's what happened.
I was writing down what he said trying to be good, but that wasn't good enough for him so he, for some reason singled me out and tried to make me look foolish. I answered him with clear precise answers, and for some reason, because I read ahead, I got points deducted. I've heard this is how he reacts to everyone who is not in his house. And frankly, I will not stand for it with me." - "Now Mr. Potter. He is a Professor here, and if he sees fit to take points from you, then there must be a good reason."
"Did you hear a good reason?" - "Well... I stand by my Professors."
"Do you think the public will think that?
I can send this to the paper. I bet they will gladly print this.
I can see it now. Professor of Hogwarts bullies, new student. The Boy Who Lived." - "Now Mr. Potter. There's no reason to be unreasonable."
"Unreasonable is the stupid reason he takes points from other students.
I ask something very simple. Make sure He deducts points unreasonably, and nothing ever gets out. I will always be recording, and ready to release them if ever needed."
He lost His Twinkle in his eyes. "Mr. Potter. I don't take kindly to threats."
"And I don't take kindly to unfair treatment.
I've been fighting not to take unfair treatment and that's what this is.
I don't know why he singled me out. But I do know this isn't the first time and he's been doing this for years to anyone not in his house.
If I've truly done something wrong or deserved to have point reducted, I will gladly take it and not say a thing.
But answering questions he asked is not a reason to deduct points for me."
He looked at Snape then back to me. "Fine. I see your point, and the five Points taken are given back, and from here on out, any complaints given about unfair point deductions will be looked into."
"Thank you."
Snape: "Are you seriously giving in to him?" - "Professor Snape! Please. Not now."
"If that's all. Can I go now? I have some things I need to study." - "Of course, but I might have you come back later for a chat. I meant to talk to you about you and Mrs. Hermione's marriage. But I can see now is not the time."
"You are correct. Now is not the time."
I got up from the chair. Turned to the door but paused.
I turned back to face them. "I truly don't wish for you to think of me as someone who complains a lot. I try to stay on everyone's good side, I just don't expect bullying. To me or others."
When I finished I turned back to the door the door then left.
As the stairs started to descend I turned into a Phoenix, then flamed away.
