Harry Potter: Instant Kill

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Greengrass Party

After she released me from the bosom prison she placed me in, Elizabeth started to pinch my cheeks and smoosh my face while saying "He is so cute, I could do this all day." Through some quick movements and dodges I managed to get free from the woman, allowing me to see my new fiancé with a pout on her face. The freedom I had didn't last long since Daphne quickly snatched my hand and dragged me away from her mother, she kept dragging me until we were in a small room with a table covered in presents.

"Here you go Daphne, your present if you would like it." Seeing the gift-wrapped box in my hands and quickly grabbed it, almost quicker than that she planted a small kiss on my cheek and said bashfully "Thank you, for the gift. May I open it now?" Looking at the light blush she had on her face from the kiss she gave me I nodded my head allowing her to open it. The wrapping paper was ripped off revealing a dark wood box with a golden clasp holding it closed.

When she slowly opened the box she saw a necklace in the box with a small fox pendant glistening with jewels, mostly sapphires and large Diamonds as a centrepiece. That is not all as I could faintly sense something else attached to the necklace, it was magic what the magic did I had no idea. "This is beautiful, would you please help me wear it now?" Daphne said as she blushed revealing the nape of her neck, I quickly picked up the necklace and then carefully placed it around her neck before connecting the clasp.

"It does indeed look beautiful even more so around you," I said as she blushed so much I thought she would faint from the blood rushing to her face. She grabbed my hand again and started dragging me back to where the party would be held and towards her mother and gran. "Oh, sweety what a beautiful necklace you have there, it makes your eyes stand out and brings together your look. Have you thanked him properly?" Elizabeth said with a grin like a Cheshire cat.

The guests started to arrive after Daphne had got her embarrassment under control from her mother's teasing. Me and my grandmother were waiting next to the mother-daughter duo for the guests to arrive, and we didn't need to wait long as the first guest arrived after a few minutes. The first guest to arrive was Daphne's first friend Tracy Davis who came with her mother, her father was a muggle so he stayed away from the party. After the first, the guests arrived one after the other and the list of people expanded to include the Parkinson family, the Zabini mother and son, the Bones duo of women, the Bulstrode family, the Abbot family, the Longbottom duo, the Nott mother and son, the Macmillan family and lost and least the Malfoy family.

The Party was in the peak of summer so instead of being in the ballroom the party was held in the expansive garden of the manor, a large pavilion was set up with small lights to make it seem like fairies were dancing around the dance floor. An enchanted set of instruments was playing various waltzes and other dance music for the children and parents to dance to, of course, Daphne pulled me onto the dance floor and made me have a small panic before my body's muscle memory revealed to me it could dance. The dance was good, it was fun to dance with Daphne as she smiled while looking into my eyes but good things come to an end when the song ended and our dance was interrupted by a certain small blonde-haired ponce, a small but still entitled Draco Malfoy. He sauntered up to us and practically barged me out of the way to dance with Daphne while saying "Let us dance heir Greengrass since with the deal my father has proposed to yours you will be my fiancé in the future. So let us dance to celebrate our engagement." Daphne meanwhile whose face faded quickly from the smile she had with me to a mild glare morphed into one of disgust when he said about them being engaged and couldn't hold her silence, "I will not be your fiancé since I already have one much better than you, he is not a pompous spoilt little dragon like you so I will have to decline your invitation."

The smile Draco had on his face slowly faded as he realised the music had died down so the whole garden heard his conversation with Daphne as I stood nearby, his face gradually turned crimson from embarrassment at being turned down in front of all the guests and he couldn't do anything else but retreat to the safety of his fathers pants saying before he left, "Who is this fiancé of yours then?"

Daphne walked over to my side before looping her arm with mine and proclaiming to the whole dance floor, "Erik Bodewig is my fiancé and he will also be going to Hogwarts with me to spend more time with me since we haven't been able to with him being in Germany." When she introduced me I gave a small bow to the gathered crowd who had varying reactions, some smiled at me warmly and others had a neutral reaction while Malfoy looked like he had swallowed a large lemon as he knew his plan failed. One reaction I did not expect was the surprised expression on Madam Longbottom's face, one that told me that she knew of my family history.

While Daphne and I were dancing on the dance floor while demolishing the Malfoy plans, my grandmother was showing Elizabeth the small mouse and describing what happened to the bogart. They had left the party and were sipping tea in the drawing room, "I have never in all my years seen a rodent such as this so I was hoping you would have some answers Elizabeth." My Gran stated while holding it out towards the woman she was talking to. Gingerly taking it from Grandma, Elizabeth gave it a once over with a few diagnosis spells before pulling a very old-looking potions book from a small draw on the desk. "I haven't seen it before but maybe it is in this book, this is from the time of the founders so I would appreciate your discretion," Elizabeth said while slowly rifling through the book, eventually she found an entry which shocked both her and my grandmother.

The Bogart:

A species of mice that hide in dark places such as chests or broom closets, can shift into what the viewer most fears as a defence method to scare away potential predators. It has a weakness in mandrake leaves and solutions of mandrake essence can knock out or kill them. The rodent body can be used in potions to cure dark aliments as well as rituals to bestow its shape changing in the form of metamorphmagus, the potion recipe can be found on page 6728 while the ritual can be found on page 8991

Elizabeth quickly turned to page 6728 in hopes of finding a potion which could help cure her family of the blood curse placed on them, it only appeared once per generation but it had already claimed her brother's life she would not allow it to take her second daughter's life. Finding the stated page she gained some hope in her heart as she saw:

Potion of Blessing:

This potion is stated as a cure for all known and unknown dark injuries, maladies and curses. It takes a full year to brew and requires the following ingredients and preparation methods.

3 Bogart Mice

13 inches of hair (The person who will take the potion hair)

10 Aconite flowers

The tongues of 3 ashwinders

1 pinch of Asphodel

And a tail feather of a thunderbird.

Elizabeth and my Grandma were staring at the potion and quickly got to work finding what they would need to procure and what they already had in stock, they could easily gather everything except the feather, the bogart mice were simple to get now they knew how and the rest were sold at any potion shop and were quite cheap. The Preparation method was also exceedingly easy all they had to do was get a silver cauldron and add everything to the boiling water, stirring 3 times a day at least 6 hours apart from each other for a whole year. Elizabeth finally had a solution to her problems and it was in front of her this whole time she felt so stupid to not have looked at her family potion book, she had assumed that her ancestors had looked through it already.
