Harry potter: The ringmaker

Chapter 24: The wand

The next vault was number 713 and had much stricter security measures while containing a single small sack alone. Harry was curious about what was in the sack but Nick was debating weather he should just go out of his way to smash it now and save him the trouble of dealing with Quirelmort. Sure that would basically ruin all of Dumbledore's plans for the future year and make the man rather upset at him and maybe also making the dark lord pissed at him as well..... 'Yeah that plans out.' Nick shivered slightly at the sheer amount of things that could escalate from such a seemingly simple action.-

After that the group left Gringotts and headed over to madam Malkins clothes shop to get their clothes tailor made which cost a single galleon for each of the boys. She said to return in a couple hours to pick them up so the group left the store and headed over to the trunk store to get trunks for both Nick and Harry since they needed a place to store their other supplies. Three shops latter and all the other stuff including books for Harry was done minus the wand.-

"You lads go see Mr. Olivander for yer wands I have a bit of business to take of myself but I'll meet you afterwards." Hagrid said while pointing at the old shop in the middle of diagon alley that had a brag written on the front of the door "Makers of fine wands since 382 B.C". The man handed Nick seven galleons which was apparently the price of every wand in the shop regardless of material or core. That seemed like it shouldn't be that way what with the price some of those materials command like phoenix feathers that normally cost a massive amount.-

Nick and Harry opened the door to the shop and a small bell rang to tell the shop owner that someone was there. What most wouldn't realize however was that the owner was standing nearby under a disillusionment spell in order to observe his newest customers. Harry was looking around curiously but Nick's vision immediately zeroed in on the location that Garrick Olivander was standing in. Olivander was amazed at how potent the young man with metallic hued hairs perception of magic was as there was no hesitation at all in exposing him.-

"You both will definitely give me quite the challenge I can tell." Olivander said with a wide smile while dispelling the spell and revealing himself to the boys. "Ah , Mr. Potter I was expecting you to show up one of these days , did you know I remember every wand I've ever sold , including your mothers. It seems only yesterday she was in here herself buying her first wand. Ten and a quarter inches long , swishy , made of willow , Nice wand for charm work." The older man said with nostalgia. "You on the other hand young man are a mystery to me." he said turning his attention towards Nick who remained calm this entire time.-

"Nicholas Iron and you must be Garrick Olivander." Nick said calmly. Olivander looked confused for a moment but quickly returned to normal. "Well no matter about all that , lets get you lads measured so we can start pairing you with your wands." he said before approach with a tape measure. He first asked which was their wand hand which was right for both of them before carefully measuring them in a bunch of unusual ways such as their finger length and palm size.-

The man tried to hide it but Nick noticed that he appeared shaken when he found Sanar on his pointer finger. Nick was expecting the man to ask or say something but nothing ever came of it as he just acted professionally. Once both of the boys were measured thoroughly Olivander walked into the rows of wands and brought back two boxes that he opened. Harry eagerly reached out for the wand offered to him but Nick could only frown while looking at the wand in front of him. To his magical sensitivity this wand was clearly rejecting him and so Nick just looked at Olivander and shook his head while the wand in Harry's hand caused a candle to explode.-

This quickly became a sort of revolving door game with the elderly man taking and bringing wands back. The iconic line from the book arrived for Harry when he got his holly and phoenix feather wand hinting at his ties to Voldemort. This unfortunately left only Nick without a wand much to Olivander's pleasure as it seems he had a true challenge on his hands. Wand after wand came and went and they all refused to work for Nick.
