Chapter 25: Chooses the wizard
Nick was starting to get frustrated with this as it was starting to seem like he simply wasn't going to get a wand today but something strange happened. Olivander sighed for some reason after this last wand and looked at Nick with a conflicted expression. "I won't lie to you lad This is the first time that none of the normal combinations of wood and core have seemed to reject someone. It pains me to do so but the only options left are the experimental wands that were never meant to be sold because I truly have no clue of their personalities." he said seriously.
Nick shrugged "It is what it is." he said honestly as he had given up all hope in getting a wand at this point. Olivander nodded and walked into the back of the shop and came back with a metal trunk big enough to store a tall person comfortably with room to spare. It must have been very heavy because the elderly man was using a spell to carry it out. When he placed it on the floor of the shop Nick saw that it was covered in chains , wards and locks in such a way that it felt like it was locked to protect the world from what lay within.-
Olivander slowly began to remove the protections one by one with more than a few needing his blood to be released. Not much mind you merely a single drop each but the seriousness of the situation was apparent. Once all the locks were removed the chains were taken off and the chest was finally opened in a moment that had Both Nick and Harry holding their breaths. Nothing happened , like at all , there was no super burst of magic or evil cackling or even a slight change in temperature , literally nothing changed.-
Nick wanted to beat an old man for being dramatic for no reason but controlled himself after seeing Harry have the same problem. Olivander than began to take boxes of wands out of the trunk and place them side by side on the shop counter. Neither of the two boys interrupted the man and merely waited until he was done. This only took five minutes and finally the last box was placed on the counter and the man began to take off the tops revealing the wands underneath.-
It was clear that these were different than anything that had been presented before because their colors and patterns were all different than the normal ones. Nick walked up to the counter and sensed each of the wands and noticed that all of them save five totally rejected him. Of the remaining five three of them merely seemed hesitant rather than opposed. The last two however were creating visible phenomena as if to try and get his attention. One of them was a strange dark tan and pink swirled wooden wand with a simple handle. Nick noticed hints of treachery in this wands magic sensation and rejected it immediately.-
The final wand was the strangest however out of all the wands as it was made out of a reddish yellow colored wood with black lightning like veins of what was clearly a different type of wood along it's length and a dark almost black handle. Nick tentatively took this wand in hand and the shop was filled with an oppressive but vibrant feeling as the wand connected to his magic. "Marvelous simple marvelous! That wand has been in my family for centuries and is the only one of it's kind in the entire world."-
"You see both the wood and core of that wand are unique in that they both came from the only example of their species to ever be found. The wood was found in the tomb of an ancient alchemist along with a runic message that said "First mans mistake" to date what that implied is a matter of debate. The core however was the only feather taken by the offspring of a phoenix and a thunderbird. Both species are notoriously proud and powerful and so when a miracle child was born of both many sought to obtain it."
"Even in it's youth the bird was so powerful that all who approached it died , leaving it unchallenged for it's entire life. It was said that before it died the mighty bird bestowed this feather upon my ancestor and then burst into a golden plume of flames and lightning while the sky wept , never to be seen again. I don't know what makes you so different than any who have ever come into this shop , but I look forward to hearing your story." Olivander finished talking and held out his hand for a handshake.
