Chapter 344: Eldritch Beings?

Kael seemed a bit different in the sense that he got so strong, he even rivaled Michael himself.

Or that was the initial impression anyway, but the closer he looked, the more he noticed the fact that Kael had lost himself.

And because of that, Arthur was currently protecting the King from none other than Kael.

Michael sighed in frustration as he kicked the door open and walked inside, surprising all the people present.

But before they could speak, Michael's gaze turned toward Kael, who, for some reason, was now fully blue.

There was a hint of skepticism in Michael's gaze as he turned toward Arthur.

"Is that what you look like?"

"Ha?" Arthur's brows twitched in disbelief. "Just because we're both blue doesn't make us fishes! B-But hey, since you're here, go and karate chop that thing over the head before it kills us."

Michael glanced at Kael again before shaking his head.

"But he looks so innocent though? He definitely didn't do anything wrong... right, Kael?"

Of course, no response came. Why would it? Kael was currently somewhere else, and whoever was controlling Kael's body was definitely not one of the people Michael recognized.

So even if Michael didn't exactly want to deal with this head-on, he had no choice.

Therefore, he approached Kael and tapped him on the head, as if trying to establish some sort of contact.

Immediately, Michael's hand was blasted clean off, traveling into the wall before exploding.

A familiar energy had managed to sever it. Definitely not chaos, but more like Darkness. Michael hadn't used it a lot, if ever, but he could still recognize it.

It was a powerful power, and if he had gone head-on against it a few weeks ago, he might've been screwed.

But not today.

Michael absentmindedly gazed at his arm that healed itself in nearly an instant, then shot Kael an annoyed look.

"I'm starting to think people go for my arms on purpose. I've lost count how many times someone has lopped off my arm," Michael said flatly.

Yet once again, no reaction came. Kael was simply staring at him with his strange green eyes.

Yeah... I should probably expel this thing fast, Michael thought with a sigh and tapped Kael's forehead again.

Just as the power of darkness threatened to lop Michael's arm off, he simply swatted it away with his chaotic mana and focused on Kael's thoughts.

Or he tried to anyway. But Kael finally snapped out of it and moved aside, not letting Michael's fingers linger on his forehead a moment longer.

"That's a bit sad, to be honest," Michael muttered. "You were so innocent once, and now you're not even letting me pat your head..."

"Michael, just deal with him," Arthur said from the side.

Michael's brows twitched. "Why don't you go deal with him yourself then? Stop rushing me."

Arthur's frown deepened. "Do you know that if instead of talking, you actually focused on combat, then your arm wouldn't be constantly cut off?"

"Oh? Now that's an interesting observation..." Michael tilted his head. "But it's fine, my arm is only being cut off because I allow it to be cut off. My defense is impenetrable when I want it to be."

With those words, Michael took a step forward, reappearing right behind Kael.

It happened in the blink of an eye, and just as Kael began turning his head to avoid Michael's fingers, Michael did something unexpected.

Instead of placing his fingers on Kael's forehead, he delivered a full-powered punch to the face, causing Kael to break the sound barrier as he flew out of the fancy room and into the sky.

Michael gave Arthur and the King a thumbs up, then flew after Kael.

He arrived in front of him in less than a moment and caught him by the throat.

"I'm sure you can fly if you wanted to, but I guess the one responsible for your body isn't exactly that smart," Michael said flatly. "Oh well... I guess I'll just have to kill you and wait for you to regenerate."

The moment Michael finished his words, he tightened his grip. But just as he was about to kill Kael, he got an interesting message inside his mind.

[Foolish human, do you dare offend the Eldritch realm?]

"Fuck you, first of all, for entering my mind without knocking," Michael replied. "Second of all... the Eldritch realm? What are you guys doing here?"

Kael's eyes sharpened as the voice once again rang out inside Michael's mind.

[We are on a path to conquest. A certain ruler in this land had not upheld their end of the deal, so we have no choice but to take matters into our own hands.]

"But you failed, didn't you?" Michael asked. "If you were one of the more important people of the abyss, then you would've been able to simply hijack Kael's body, kill the King, then leave. So why are you here really?"

Having asked that, Michael focused on the next thoughts he'd receive. After all, even if he couldn't directly hear the person speak, his lie detection should work.

And once the Eldritch being spoke up, a faint smirk appeared on Michael's face.

[We are here to end you. That is all. We have no other purpose.]

"Say, does the name Michael Light ring a bell?" Michael asked.

Kael's body flinched.

[The Archangel? What about him?]

Michael's grin grew. "Did you know he's dead? He's been dead for a very, very long time. So long, in fact, that multiple worlds have formed and died. Even your Eldritch realm has undergone some change in rulers and stuff. Didn't it?"

A moment of silence ensued, but it was soon broken by the Eldritch being's wary words.

[Who are you?]

"Me? Well... I guess you could say I'm that dead Archangel," Michael replied benevolently as he tightened his grip around Kael's neck.

But not before giving the Eldritch being some parting words to worry about.

"Send Pardoth my regards."
