Chapter 14: Heavenly Asura Path 14
Chapter 14: Nirvana
In his VIP box, Percy couldn't help but raise the corners of his lips and look proudly at the golden pill and the reactions it brought to everyone. In that temple within the Chaos, he didn't know how much time had passed, but the old man taught him how to cultivate soul power, alchemy, blacksmithing, creating spiritual tools, and various other things.
This pill, of all things, was something quite special. And not only because of the ingredients needed, but because of the difficulty in preparing it and its usage requirements.
"This is the last thing our auction house will be introducing. Its name is the Nirvana Pill."
"Unlike the previous pills, this one can only be used after a martial spirit awakens, and the person must not have trained before then. By taking it, the person will undergo a rebirth in life, tempering their marrow, bones, organs, muscles, and skin. It will also nourish soul power and spiritual power..."
"Finally… by going through all these changes, the martial spirit will undergo a positive change that will make it evolve into something higher!"
"Percy… can that pill really promote spiritual power?" Liu Erlong asked in astonishment.
"Yes…" Percy answered in his usual icy tone.
Liu Erlong inhaled sharply.
There was no mistaking soul power for spiritual power. The former was the power that all spiritual masters cultivate to increase their spiritual levels. After absorbing the surrounding energy of the world, it is compressed again and again within the body of the spiritual master. And that is one of the reasons for the slowdown in cultivation when someone reached level 40. The higher the amount, the harder it is to compress, and thus it takes much longer.
Spiritual power, on the other hand, was something a bit more complicated. Currently, it is only used to control emotions and focus/observe the user's surroundings. More talented and higher-leveled people could already use it to intimidate or simply increase their power a bit. However, people of the current era had no idea that spiritual power had to do with the spiritual sea, a place within a spiritual master's mind. Therefore, a person with control and great spiritual power could use this power to directly attack someone's mental sea, or exert much greater control over spiritual abilities.
Spiritual power was also divided into levels: Spiritual Origin Realm, Spiritual Connection, Spiritual Sea, Spiritual Abyss, Spiritual Domain, and Divine Origin. And to become a titled douluo, a person needed to have at least reached the spiritual abyss realm.
And there was something more important; as long as you had powerful spiritual power and a strong body, you could surpass the age set for some spirit ring. If the third ring had an optimal age of a maximum of 1,800 years, then it could be surpassed with stronger than normal spiritual power and body.
Now, however, even if spiritual power was something that not everyone had extensive knowledge of, it was still important.
And it didn't even seem to be the important thing in this case. What made everyone salivate and bid like crazy, was the evolution of the martial spirit, which under normal conditions, would be practically impossible.
Since the beginning of martial spirits, very few people have gone through an evolution, which was different from a mutation. The so-called martial spirit mutation occurred when a child was born to a couple with different martial spirits. It is also one of the reasons why clans on the continent prevented their younger kin from marrying people who possessed a martial spirit that was too different. Mutation, after all, could be both benign and malignant.
Evolution was also called second awakening, where the martial spirit could gain new properties, attributes, etc. This almost always ended with the martial spirit having a much better path and thus making the spirit master stronger.
One example was the two clans/sects within the Heaven Dou Empire. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan could evolve into the Golden Saint Dragon, and although only a small number have achieved such a thing throughout the history of the clan, there were records. In the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, they had the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda as a martial spirit, but having only seven floors, people with this auxiliary type martial spirit could not surpass rank 79. But, in the history of the clan, there had been its evolution, the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda! This allowed its user to reach the title of douluo.
In the end, an evolution was something that everyone desired, thus they were not afraid to drop all their money into bidding.
"Can you make me one?" Liu Erlong asked. Knowing that it shouldn't be easy, she thought she had nothing to lose by trying to ask for a pill.
"No," Percy immediately replied. No matter if he seemed to get along well with the woman beside him, he still didn't trust her. In fact, the only reason he didn't stop her from following him was that he didn't really care. If she tried to screw him over, well, he would just use all his strength to try and kill her.
He was no longer the Percy who tried to save everyone. He was no longer the naive young man who seemed to trust easily. No, not anymore. Having gone through hell and endured for three hundred years only made him more cautious, cold and ruthless.
"50 Million! 50 million has been offered by the spirit hall!" the woman presiding over the auction exclaimed excitedly.
"50 million at one!" Looking at everyone, he exclaimed, expecting them to raise the price further, but that didn't seem to be the case.
"50 million at two!"
"50 million at three! Fine, the Nirvana Pill has been obtained by the Spirit Hall for fifty million golden soul coins!"
"What are you going to do with all that money?" Liu Erlong asked.
"It's none of your concern," Percy replied as he stood up from his chair. The auction had ended, so he didn't need to wait too long, he would just go get his money and return home.
"Hmph…" With a snort that showed his annoyance, Liu Erlong walked out of the VIP box before heading towards the exit. She knew that Percy let her accompany him simply because he didn't care one bit, but that made her want to accompany him even more. However, she herself knew that a person had their limits.
So instead of following him again, he chose to return to his home in the forest behind his academy.
As he walked out, Percy ignored the feeling of being watched, heading towards the place where he would withdraw all his money. With everything sold, he had earned almost a hundred million golden soul coins. Of course, the percentage that the auction house earned would have to be deducted before he could take his money, but he would still have a large amount of money to use.
And as everything was ending, Percy finally walked out, noticing that quite a bit of time had passed.
...
The golden crow headed west, the bright moon rose east, and the calm moonlight gently spilled over the capital of the Heaven Dou Empire, as if it had dyed the entire capital with a misty tulle.
And as Percy walked down the street, he stopped with a small frown as he saw a package at the foot of his front door.
Staring at it for a few seconds, he decided to pick it up before entering and placing it on the counter that separated the kitchen and sat down. When he opened the box that wasn't too big, he saw a letter.
I hope that in the future we can see each other once again.
I hope you like my gift.
The content of the letter was small, but when he saw what was underneath it, he froze. He didn't know how much time passed until he shakily moved his right hand to take one of the several cookies. The cookies weren't normal, in fact, he hadn't seen them in a long time.
They were blue...
With a bite, the cookie created a sound before a familiar taste exploded in his mouth. Under the moonlight coming through the window, two lines of tears falling down Percy's cheeks lit up.
At that moment, he seemed to recall every fun and happy moment with his mother; every smile, every expression of his dear mother appeared as he closed his eyes and his expression turned sad and melancholic.
"It's the same... the taste is just like the ones she made..."
As he cried under the moonlight, for the first time in three hundred years, Percy seemed to stop holding back his feelings towards his mother and the heaviness in his heart slowly lessened.
