Chapter 16: Heavenly Asura Path 16
Chapter 16: Soul Core
In the middle of the forest, Percy opened his eyes as he felt a fluctuation of soul power. Surrounded by immortal herbs and the power of heaven and earth, Percy immediately exclaimed, drawing the attention of a focused Dugu Bo.
"You should stop!" the shout startled Dugu Bo, causing him to open his eyes with a frown. Interrupting a person's cultivation was practically one of the things that people hated the most. After all, one wrong move could cost dearly.
"What do you mean, buddy?"
"You're trying to advance to level 90, right? Don't do it yet. You may have formed your first soul core, but it's better to form a second one before advancing," Percy said seriously.
"Soul core? What is that?"
"You should have something in the lower dantian; if not there, then in either of the other two most important places: on the side of the heart or in the center of the head."
"You're talking about my poison pearl?!" Dugu Bo asked in surprise. Said pearl was something that formed a few years ago in the center of his lower dantian. And being in such a delicate place, as well as being something unknown to him at the time, he has kept it a secret."
"Yes," Percy nodded before beginning to explain, "The soul core is a metaphysical condensed energy crystallization of spiritual power or bloodline essence that indicates the advancement of the martial soul's understanding or the evolution of the bloodline to a higher life stage, as well as the foundation of cultivation. Depending on the source from which the soul core is condensed, the possessor's potential is permanently amplified in the path of that source and the affinity with that source increases. The soul core functions as a storage and collection unit, allowing the possessor to slow down the rate of loss – recovery of its source."
"This is also one of the reasons why your poison is so strong. It probably increased in power from what it was before."
"The soul core is also something that a spirit master must form at least one by the time they have seven spirit rings. This will give you a chance to become a Titled Douluo. Now, however, a person can have up to three."
Percy looked seriously at Dugu Bo. He was saying all of this because he could see in Dugu Bo an ally. The man was someone of loyalty and who seemed to repay all of his favors. Of course, ally did not mean friend. Percy would always be on the alert.
"If you can form a second spirit core, then you will definitely be able to surpass level 96 in the future."
"I recommend that you condense the soul core in the center of your head, where the spiritual sea is located. It is very dangerous to do so, but it would be equivalent to becoming a level 96 titled douluo in the future, perhaps even a level 99 peerless douluo."
Dugu Bo looked at Percy with obvious shock. It was known that the level of title douluo was divided into several parts. Each level was really difficult to overcome and there were differences in power. For example, rank 91 to 94 were ordinary titled douluo, and even if they were powerful, under normal conditions, it would be a little difficult to win against a level 95. Upon reaching level 95 and up to 98, such people were called super douluo or hyper douluo. Finally, level 99 was referred to as: peerless douluo or limit douluo.
But, within the limit douluo, there were also three categories at certain times. These were: quasi-demigod, demigod, and quasi-god. But, at this point and era of the planet, reaching such titles They were like trying to climb a mountain bare-handed and without any special powers. At this point, where the Douluo planet could not sustain a god-like existence for more than a hundred years, only by obtaining a god inheritance was it possible to achieve these levels. And probably only two people currently existed at these levels.
"Friend… could you tell me more?" Dugu Bo asked with expectations.
"Well…"
. . .
A long distance away from the Dusk Forest, an old man was looking at his daughter with complicated eyes. It had been years since he saw her so closely. In his life, he had done many things, but one of the things he regretted the most was not taking proper care of his daughter.
"Erlong…" a murmur came out of his old mouth, causing Liu Erlong to look at him more closely.
"Hey…" Erlong sighed slightly as he didn't know how exactly to deal with her father. She had come all the way to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect just to ask her father some important questions.
"I came because I have some questions."
"Well…" Yu Luomian nodded. "Come in, let's have some tea while we chat."
Liu Erlong nodded before entering the house. Yu Luomian looked at his daughter's back with a bit of sadness. As an old man full of experience, he more or less knew what his daughter might ask.
That year, when he found out that the woman he had slept with had a daughter, he didn't do much. Why would he have to love her? was what he asked himself as the mother and daughter. After all, it was a one-night stand, there was no way something like love could emerge from such a relationship.
Liu Erlong, however, ended up resenting him for that very reason. His mother, who despite being a prostitute, gave him life, fed him, cared for him with all her heart and bestowed boundless love on him until the moment she fell ill. And Yu Luomina knew about all of this; she knew of her daughter's enormous filial love, she knew of her enormous talent, she knew of her respect for her mother. At that moment, he had decided to take care of her from afar as respect for the woman who raised such an exceptional woman.
It was also the reason that in that year, he was the one responsible for the separation between his daughter and Yu Xiaogang.
Now, the two of them were sitting, facing each other. The silence in the room was a little awkward.
"You came to ask about what happened that year?" Yu Luomian asked.
"Yes…" Liu Erlong nodded with his hands on either side of the teacup, feeling the warm heat emanating from it. "At that time, you knew that Xiaogang was my cousin. But, now that I think about it, you didn't use that to break us up. What you said was: How can you marry a piece of trash? At that time, you were referring to his power, right?"
"Also…" Liu Erlong looked at her father, her eyes condensing on his. "I want to know: did Yu Xiaogang know that we were cousins?"
Yu Luomian stared at her daughter for a long moment before closing her eyes, inhaling, and then letting out a breath of air through her nose. Then, she nodded slowly as she spoke carefully.
"He knew, of course he knew. One of the reasons why I detest Yu Xiaogang so much and why his father, my brother, feels ashamed and sad for his own son, is that Yu Xiaogang is trash, in many ways."
"Despite not having a talent for a spirit master due to the mutation of his martial spirit, he still continued on another path: that of a theoretical master. In such a case, if he obtained incredible results, why would we not be satisfied? If that was the case, our sect would have an even greater reputation and everyone would benefit from it."
"Then… why?" Liu Erlong asked almost in a whisper. Her hands were clenched on the teacup, almost on the verge of breaking it. Her heart ached to hear that Yu Xiaogang already knew that they were cousins at this moment.
"Because he, Yu Xiaogang, has actually taken the benefit of others. All of his so-called research, is taken from the information within the spirit hall during the time he worked there. In the end, he just took said information, did some research, and interviewed a few people before publishing his 'findings.'"
"In the end, a lot of it is plagiarism. And one of his many quotes: there are no trash martial spirits, only trash people. If that's really so, doesn't that make him trash by his very words? He himself says that his martial spirit isn't trash, but then why doesn't he level up?" Yu Luomian shook his head angrily.
"The reason why he decided to marry you even though he knew you were cousins, is only because it would make him the boss of the Golden Iron Triangle forever. Plus, of course, having you by his side supporting him unconditionally."
Yu Luomian looked at his daughter, who was now crying in front of him. His hand reached out before pausing for a moment and then reaching out again to stroke her long, black hair.
"I'm sorry... I made mistakes with you and your mother. I've apologized to her, but not to you. At that time, I really didn't want him to follow through with his plans, but I didn't think about your feelings."
"Woo~," Liu Erlong groaned in pain as she cried. Her clear tears flooded her eyes as they fell non-stop down her cheeks. Her right hand clutched at her chest, as if her heart was in pain and she wanted to forcefully rip it out.
Yu Luomian sighed once more before walking over and hugging his daughter carefully, letting her cry all she wanted on his shoulder. This time, even if he had already thought about that day many times, Liu Erlong still had a little hope that his father would say no to his questions; that Yu Xiaogang would not know anything. But, generally, reality tends to give people a big slap in the face.
