Chapter 20: Heavenly Asura Path 20
Chapter 20: The Fury of the Heart
Hestia had an angry expression on her face right now, which was very rare to see; at least that should have been the case. For three years now, things on Olympus have been slowly changing as the gods made the world suffer. She, as the person who guarded the heart, knew that the current situation was very precarious.
The gods, who seemed to have changed thousands of years ago, seemed to be returning to their old ways. Zeus was meeting more and more women again. Poseidon sank fishing boats and all sorts of other things from time to time. In fact, Hades seemed the calmest of the three brothers.
Hera, as expected, did not spend a day in peace because of her unfaithful husband. Demeter seemed to remain the same, but in reality she was getting restless with each passing day and her anger and hatred for Hades was slowly increasing, still not forgetting what happened to her daughter.
Apollo and Hermes were no different from Zeus, meeting women and partying, sometimes even forgetting their duties as gods.
When two years had passed since what happened with Percy, Hestia felt the need to gather the gods she thought still believed in Percy. Surprisingly for her, Athena was one of them. The other was Artemis, who Hestia knew had a special feeling for her brother's son.
Oh, Artemis was a rare case. She was a virgin goddess, someone who repudiated men and would never let them be by her side for too long. However, when Perseus Jackson fell into her eyes that time when he decided to lift the sky for her, helping in her rescue, she was left with his image in her mind. Of course, that wasn't a crush. But, it only took that moment for the goddess of the moon to start taking an interest in the demigod of the sea.
And in fact, she was one of the angriest when the Perseus thing happened. Only Hestia—who found out later—knew that she kept an eye on Percy from time to time. But seeing how Ares and Zeus acted, the goddess knew that if she spoke up, no one would support her, at least she didn't know that Athena and Hestia would. Unfortunately, it was three against the rest. And Zeus, even if he was an idiot, wasn't completely stupid.
He would punish the three goddesses and the rest of the gods would support him.
This was also the reason Artemis felt sad; she couldn't even apologize to the person who had earned a place in her heart.
And, just a few months ago, Hestia underwent a change. She, even being kind, respectful, caring, and someone who cared for others, could still get angry. She was like a mother: regardless of how much she loved her family, if they did something wrong, she would get angry.
But this time, the things her family had done was a limit. She had already endured all the things in the past. And now, in an era where wars were few, where people were freer and had more rights, the gods could not intercede as in the past. If the gods showed themselves to mortals, they would fear them as before, but in a short time they would reveal themselves. Even if they were to lose, they would not stop fighting for what they believed in and their rights.
In the end, the world would suffer. And with Gaea sleeping, the planet could have irreparable damage.
Hestia inhaled deeply before sighing, her feet moving quickly towards the main hall, where she would have a conversation with Zeus. But, she frowned when she saw that the whole place was too quiet. Olympus was too dark and only fire lights illuminated the paths.
Suddenly, Hestia's body froze in place and after a few long seconds she turned her head forcefully towards a lower part of Olympus.
"Artemis..." She muttered worriedly before an angry scream from the goddess of the moon was heard throughout Olympus. But as she was about to go to said place, she was enclosed by a strange barrier with three old women appearing around her.
"You guys..." Staring in shock at the destinations, Hestia showed anger like no other. For the first time in a great many years, Hestia felt a rage rise from deep within her. The rage caused by one of her most beloved family members suffering caused Hestia to show her fury like she had never done before.
"GET OUT!!" An angry scream came out of her mouth and her tone was majestic as powerful flames manifested around her, attempting to incinerate the barrier.
"We are sorry, Hestia," Atropos sighed regretfully.
"But this is necessary," Clotho said seriously.
"If we want Zeus to be defeated for good, this has to happen," Lachesis stated firmly.
"I said... Get out!" Hestia punched her fist as the flames engulfed the barrier before extinguishing it. She jumped with all her might before descending towards where her niece was, only to see her being thrown by Ares from the top of Olympus.
"NO!" A sad and angry scream came out of her mouth before she approached a surprised God of War. The flames that had appeared around her spun like a tornado in her fist before striking Ares' head.
The force behind the blow surprised the god of war and he felt immense pain on his face. In fact, in a second, the pain had been so great that he suddenly stopped feeling it as he flew out spitting golden blood while his face burned revealing his bones and flesh in pieces.
The face of the god of war, Ares, had been disfigured in a single blow!
Hestia could only look down as her labored breathing made her chest rise and fall. Her expression was desolate as her tears ran down her cheeks. Her eyes dazzling with love, warmth and care, trembled as they filled with mist before beginning to change to a furious fire color.
Her head slowly turned towards Ares, who was shaking on his knees as he covered his face. His eyes were like two flames, but they seemed to waver at the wound that would not heal.
"Where is she?" Hestia's voice rang out and spread throughout the place. She clearly saw Artemis fall and then disappear.
Apollo and Hephesto who had not yet left the place, froze in their spots. The two of them stared at Hestia as if she was the most terrifying thing in existence.
"ASK WHERE IS SHE!!," her furious and thunderous voice echoed throughout Olympus. At this moment, the gentle goddess no longer existed.
The fates only watched from afar. Even if they intended to answer said question, it was not yet the time. Seeing Hestia so angry, it was better to let her release all that anger towards those truly responsible.
However, they knew that this was the moment when Olympus would be completely, irreparably divided.
And they, who practically commanded fate to a certain extent, wondered why they had been granted a King like Zeus.
"Apollo! Hephesto!" Hestia screamed as she pointed a finger at them.
"From today on, I, Hestia, the goddess of family, home, heart, domesticity, virginity, and state... I completely disown you!" Hestia declared coldly, leaving the two gods frozen.
When Apollo and Hephesto heard those words, they felt as if something left them a little empty.
"I, Hestia, curse you, Phoebus Apollo and Hephesto Aetnaeus, to never find a place you can call home. From now on, every time you set foot on Olympus, you will feel rejected."
Apollo felt like vomiting when he heard those words. He knew, understood that Hestia's curses were dangerous things and only she could undo them. Even Zeus, who was the King, couldn't do much. Hestia, after all, ruled the home, she was the one who guarded the heart, someone like Zeus did not have the ability to modify such curses.
"Hestia!" The angry roar was heard throughout Olympus before a bolt of lightning descended in front of Hestia. The King of the gods glared at his sister, but her gaze did not waver in the slightest.
"Get out!" was just one word, but it reverberated throughout the space, causing the hearts of the gods to grow heavy. Just that single word made them feel rejected as if this wasn't their home and that they weren't welcome.
Everyone but Zeus. Even acting as he did, he was still the King of the Gods. His power was no less than Hestia's. Arcs of lightning danced all over his body and exploded from time to time. He looked ready to fight and his eyes never left his sister's.
Lightning and fire met in that gaze.
"You are no longer fit to lead this family, Zeus."
"I am the king!" Zeus shouted. "I have been for thousands of years!"
Hestia narrowed her gaze before disappearing, but left behind words that chilled everyone's bones.
"We'll see... When my fire burns upon you, I hope you have the guts to say the same words."
The Fates, who remained hidden, immediately retreated. It was time to have a long conversation.
