Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Could It Be Related to the Sister?

Lu Zhanxing indeed received the invitation.

Xie Ying immediately relayed the good news to Lu Zhanxing, both anxious and delighted.

“The Qi Family’s charity gala invited you, the Qi Family, ah, the family where everyone is a distinguished talent of the nation.”

Although the gala was not open to the public, attending such a high-level event would be very helpful for Lu Zhanxing within the circle.

He had already inquired about the invited guests; all of them were top-tier big shots. Even getting familiar with their faces would be good.

Lu Zhanxing, however, was more concerned about another issue, “Why did they invite me?”

He was very much aware of his own status in the industry.

Xie Ying said uncertainly, “Maybe it’s because of the company?”

“Heh…”

Lu Zhanxing let out a contemptuous snort, “Believe it or not, if the company finds out I’ve been invited to the gala, they’ll surely try to intercept me.”

Upon hearing this, Xie Ying’s expression turned sour as well.

His gaze fell on the handsome young man lounging on the couch, and he sighed softly.

The damn company is really blind. They suppress him at every turn just because Lu Zhanxing wouldn’t submit to them over a certain matter.

“I remember now.”

Xie Ying said, “The invitation came from Shenghuan Entertainment, and their new President is Qi Lu, the eldest grandson of the Qi Family. Maybe it has something to do with him.”

Lu Zhanxing frowned in thought.

Shenghuan Entertainment, formerly known as Huanqiu Entertainment, was one of the top three entertainment companies in the country.

Though they had slipped in recent years, a lean camel is still bigger than a horse; they held a significant position within the circle.

Just recently, they were acquired by Shengqiao Group.

Then they began investing in a series of movies, TV shows, variety shows, and partnerships with national stations…

Throwing money around as if it was as cheap as picking it up.

Who in the circle wouldn’t envy the artists under Huanqiu who had Shengqiao’s deep pockets backing them up, fearful of having no future?

Xie Ying asked him, “Do you know Qi Lu?”

Lu Zhanxing shook his head, “I don’t know him.”

“Then what’s going on? Who’s trying to set you up?”

Neither of them knew anyone from Shenghuan, and out of so many people in the circle, why did they invite Lu Zhanxing?

Xie Ying sized up Lu Zhanxing and then…

“Is he trying to ‘cast’ you??”

Lu Zhanxing: “…”

He was speechless, “Can’t you have some healthier thoughts?”

“It’s not that…”

Xie Ying became increasingly uneasy, “Your luck has been a bit too good recently. First, a big-budget movie, and now a gala invitation—and importantly, both events are related to Shenghuan.”

Lu Zhanxing had also just found out that the movie resources given to him by Aladdin were invested by Shenghuan.

He paused.

Could the gala have something to do with Aladdin…?

Lu Zhanxing’s mind was heavy with thoughts.

Anyone would be happy to get good resources.

Except him.

Because he didn’t believe in pie falling from the sky.

Xie Ying, observing Lu Zhanxing’s expression, reluctantly suggested, “Why not forget about it? Let’s not go.”

“We’re going.”

Maybe he could figure out who gave him these resources.

“That’s great, then. I’ll have to prepare you well, so we don’t make a fool of ourselves.”

Lu Zhanxing nodded, his mind a mess.

One moment it was Aladdin, the next the gala, and then he thought about his sister arriving tomorrow. Where should he take her for fun?

Come to think of it, ever since his sister came home that day, his luck had been skyrocketing.

A flash of insight briefly crossed Lu Zhanxing’s mind, but before he could grasp it, Xie Ying interrupted, dragging him into a discussion about the gala’s attire.

Lu Zhanxing curled his fingers and tapped lightly on his forehead, chuckling to himself internally.

For a moment, he had actually thought it could have something to do with his sister, which was simply preposterous.
