Chapter 213: Rank Up!?

Chapter 213 - Rank Up!?

Naturally, Mahiro was qualified to rank up to level 2.

Even though it was just one level up, the jump in status and power was massive.

Adventurers who reach Level 2 or higher are considered high class and can get a title from the gods.

"Good thing I prepared myself mentally," Hestia said in a complicated tone while shifting on Mahiro's back.

"It's really not that big of a deal," Mahiro said with a smile.

"It's totally a big deal," Hestia rolled her eyes.

She had noticed Mahiro was missing some common sense.

All his basic abilities went up by over 3,000 points, which was mind-blowing.

If anyone heard about this, they wouldn't believe it.

Hestia wasn't sure how fast status usually grow, but she knew this kind of boost was anything but normal.

The gods often hung out and bragged about how much their familia members had improved, basically showing off.

Because of that, Hestia had a general idea of what was normal.

Plus, when she stayed with Hephaestus, she heard a lot about how the Hephaestus Familia were doing.

Most of the time, adventurers complained about how tough it was to raise basic abilities.

It was impressive if someone gained even 20 points in one update.

If someone got around 50 points, they were considered a genius and super valuable to the familia.

Compared to that, getting about 300 points total made them a real prodigy.

But there was another important factor.

Hestia had only Mahiro in the entire familia.

In larger familias, members often had to line up for updates, but for Mahiro, it could happen anytime.

Normally, other familias might update weekly or monthly.

Otherwise, the god would be stuck all day just updating statuses.

Nevermind...

Mahiro got over 3,000 points after a single day of exploring the dungeon.

That wasn't just fast growth—it was abnormal.

"Greedy Heart—this skill is just too strong," Hestia sighed.

She figured Mahiro would grow quickly since he was way stronger than most rookies.

Killing monsters was a breeze for him.

And he also gained excelia.

But this was far beyond what she ever imagined.

Normally, adventurers get excelia by fighting enemies on same level or stronger.

Weak enemies hardly give any excelia.

Otherwise, every high class adventurer would just fight weaker monsters safely.

For Mahiro, though, even those monsters in the upper floors were giving him tons of excelia.

It had to be his skill boosting his excelia gain.

Mahiro himself was shocked by how effective it was.

He thought he wouldn't gain much on his first trip because the monsters were pretty weak.

But his basic abilities increased way more than he expected.

"I do feel stronger," Mahiro said after the update.

He could tell his body had improved up.

"That's just normal!" Hestia grinned.

Updating status works differently.

While getting a falna and rank up turn the excelia gains into potential that unlocks over time.

A status update boosts current body's abilities.

"But you're still Level 1," Hestia pointed out.

"Given how strong you were to start with."

"This update might not feel like a huge boost overall."

"Yeah," Mahiro agreed.

For any other adventurer, that kind of increase would be world-changing.

"Mahiro, do you want to rank up?" Hestia asked.

"Don't you need a certain amount of excelia for that? Do I even have enough?" Mahiro wondered.

Adventurers only gain excelia by defeating tougher enemies or doing something heroic.

For Mahiro, that was tricky.

He wasn't sure who counted as a stronger foe.

If he used his full power—including boosted gear—he didn't think any monster on the known floors could stand against him.

Was he supposed to challenge a god?

But the gods had sealed their divine powers.

If they ever unsealed them, they'd be kicked back to the heavens.

"You already have enough excelia," Hestia said.

"Really?"

"Still, I'll hold off on rank up for now," he decided.
