Chapter 216: Syr: Mahiro!!
Chapter 216 - Syr: Mahiro!!
The reason for letting Hephaestus see his status was likely to ease the pressure on Hestia when the time came.
"No way, Mahiro is just so special," Hestia said with a smug smile.
Hephaestus rolled her eyes at her, then handed the parchment back to Mahiro.
"I'll forget what I saw today."
"Hurry up and destroy this parchment. Don't let it leak."
"Well, that was the plan from the start," Mahiro nodded.
He took the parchment and walked over to the furnace.
Although the flames had died down, there were still embers glowing faintly inside.
Mahiro tossed it in, and soon, it burned and turned to ash.
Seeing this scene, Hephaestus took deep breath.
For some reason, before she learned about Mahiro's status, she had been filled with curiosity.
But after seeing it, while she was undeniably shocked, her curiosity had vanished.
Instead, she felt an invisible pressure on her chest that left her feeling uneasy.
Meanwhile, Hestia was smiling cheerfully and without a care in the world.
Hephaestus didn't know how to describe her current mood.
Comparing her slightly troubled expression to Hestia's carefree smile, Mahiro couldn't help but chuckle.
Whether it's a goddess or a mortal woman, they all seem to love gossiping.
Simply put, sharing secrets is irresistible.
However, as goddesses, they understand the importance of keeping secrets and can remain tight-lipped when necessary.
Even so, their natural inclination toward gossip makes them want to share.
Now, Hestia had shared Mahiro's secret.
She felt relaxed, while Hephaestus was clearly uneasy.
"Come on, Hephaestus. Let's go out for dinner," Hestia remained oblivious to Hephaestus' discomfort.
She pulled Hephaestus along with Mahiro and headed to a restaurant on North Street.
After dinner, Mahiro escorted the two goddesses back to the shop before returning to the Hostess of Fertility.
The next morning, Mahiro woke up as usual.
After washing up, he prepared explore the dungeon.
"Mahiro."
With a gentle smile, Syr stopped him.
"Oh, Syr, good morning," Mahiro greeted her.
The Hostess of Fertility, being a tavern, was closed in the morning.
However, Syr and the others got up early to prepare ingredients for lunch.
"Mahiro, this is for you," Syr handed him a wrapped box.
Mahiro took it, feeling its warmth through his palms.
"A bento?" Mahiro asked.
"Yes. I thought you might not eat properly in the dungeon, so I made you one," Syr replied.
Most adventurers focus on fighting monsters and exploration.
Food is often a secondary concern, with many opting for dry bread that's easy to carry and store.
"Thank you, Syr. I appreciate it."
"It's no trouble. I just made it while preparing breakfast this morning," Syr brushed a strand of hair from her forehead.
"Syr, you're lying, nya," Anya poked her head out from the kitchen.
"I saw you wake up extra early to make that bento."
"It was specially made for Mahiro, so make sure you finish it all!"
"Anya…" Syr turned bright red and scolded her, looking quite cute.
"I'm going to wash dishes now!" Anya quickly retreated into the kitchen.
"Thank you, Syr. I'll enjoy it," Mahiro said sincerely.
"Boy, don't just thank her politely," Mia called out from the lobby.
"Syr doesn't want you to stay so distant—be closer!"
"M-Mia!" Syr's face flushed as she hurriedly tried to stop her boss's teasing.
"Yes, Mia, let's leave these things to them," Ryuu, the lone elf, said calmly, appearing beside Mia.
"Haha, you're right. They'll sort it out themselves," Mia added with a hearty laugh.
Then, she muttered, "But still, it's only been three days since they met…"
"At this pace, things are a bit slow, aren't they?" Mia added.
Slow? What's slow?
Mahiro only smiled silently.
Even if he understood, he decided to play it cool, like a protagonist in a harem story—oblivious and dense.
"Mahiro, you probably haven't explored many places in Orario yet."
"Not really."
"It's only been three days since I arrived, and my schedule has been pretty tight."
"Find some time for Syr to show you around Orario."
"It's not called the adventurer's paradise for nothing—there are a lot of amazing things here," Mia suggested.
Syr's eyes lit up with excitement as she looked at Mahiro expectantly.
"Maybe later. I don't have much free time these days," Mahiro said with an apologetic smile.
Hearing this, Syr looked slightly disappointed.
"Well, I'm off. See you tonight," Mahiro said, waving goodbye.
"Take care, Mahiro," Syr called out, cheering him on with a smile.
"Don't die in the dungeon. Otherwise, I'll be very sad."
"I won't," Mahiro assured her.
Finally, he exchanged a glance with Ryuu before heading off to begin the day's adventure.
