Chapter 218: Monster Rex!?
Chapter 218 - Monster Rex!?
In one of the passages leading to the seventeenth floor, a group of adventurers walked forward while conversing.
This was a team of four people.
Though there were only four present, they were all renowned figures, well-known not only in Orario but also across the entire world.
Their identities were unmistakable, especially for any adventurer who recognized the emblem on their equipment.
In Orario, each Familia bore unique symbols representing their Familia.
These emblems served as proof of allegiance and prestige.
While the Hestia Familia lacked such recognition due to its recent establishment, larger and more powerful Familia had symbols that commanded respect.
One such emblem—a jester-like pattern—belonged to the Loki Familia.
All four of the adventurers in this group were members of the Loki Familia.
Each was a leader in their own right, and one, in particular, was more recognizable to most adventurers.
Ais Wallenstein, also known as the Sword Princess.
With beauty rivaling that of a goddess and unmatched skill with sword, Ais had earned immense popularity in Orario, akin to that of a celebrity.
The others in her group included the Amazon sisters, Tiona and Tione Hiryute, as well as Riveria Ljos Alf, who was the deputy captain of the Loki Familia.
These four were not only prominent members of the Loki Familia but were also among its strongest adventurers.
"Ais, we'll reach the floor boss in about ten minutes," Riveria said in her usual serious tone as they made their way through the passage.
"Today, your task is to defeat the monster rex, Goliath."
"For an adventurer of your level, defeating a floor boss at Level 4 should not pose much difficulty," she continued.
"However, your lack of focus today is troubling."
This floor boss crusade was job entrusted to the Loki Familia by the Guild.
The middle floors of the dungeon—frequented by adventurers at Level 2 and Level 3—were dangerous, and the floor bosses posed a significant threat.
Even a skilled party of those adventurers could face annihilation against these formidable foes.
To ensure the safety of adventurers exploring the dungeon, the Guild regularly commissioned strong Familia to eliminate these threats.
This time, the responsibility fell to the Loki Familia.
"Ais, are you still thinking about what happened the other day?"
Tiona teased as she cheerfully hugged Ais, who walked silently with her head down.
Since returning from the Guild two days ago, Ais had been distant and preoccupied.
"Ais, stop overthinking it! That person was probably just a liar."
"There's no way anyone could raise someone to Level 7 or even Level 8 all at once," Tione said sharply, her tone filled with irritation.
Despite her fame as the Sword Princess—a figure admired by countless adventurers—Ais was, at her core, a pure and simple girl.
Her sole focus was on becoming stronger, devoting herself wholeheartedly to adventuring in the dungeon.
Though she was quiet and reserved, those who knew her understood her unwavering determination.
Her friends and mentors—whether the mischievous yet supportive Loki, the protective Amazon sisters, or Riveria — all helped nurture Ais's journey.
However, something changed three days ago.
From Loki's account, they learned that Ais's shift in demeanor was due to a boy—a rookie adventurer who had only recently became adventurer.
Most infuriating of all, this rookie had seemingly exploited Ais's obsession with growing stronger to gain her trust.
Every time they thought of him, the members of the group seethed with anger.
They were itching to teach this boy a lesson but had yet to locate him.
"He didn't lie to me," Ais said softly, lifting her head.
Determination shone in her eyes.
Though the sensation of power she had felt then was fleeting, Ais couldn't forget the experience.
It was real.
In that moment, she had felt stronger—far beyond her current Level 5.
"When I was in the royal family, I heard of secret techniques that could temporarily increase one's power," Riveria said thoughtfully.
"But even the strongest techniques I've encountered only raise strength to weak people."
Riveria's tone grew stern. "For someone like you, already at Level 5, achieving another level—let alone two or three—would be nearly impossible."
"Ais, even Riveria's saying it's unlikely," Tione added.
"He didn't lie to me," Ais repeated stubbornly.
Riveria sighed, her voice softening. "Ais, I know your desire to grow stronger is both your greatest strength and your biggest weakness."
"It's what drives you to excel, but it also leaves you vulnerable."
She paused. "I'm worried this boy is just taking advantage of your ambitions."
"I believe in him," Ais insisted.
Riveria, sensing the futility of further argument, relented.
"Fine. If you trust him that much, let's find him together. I want to see this boy myself."
Although Riveria had raised Ais and knew her stubborn nature, she couldn't help but feel protective.
The thought of some manipulative boy deceiving Ais filled her with anger.
Especially since, two days ago, Ais had nearly fought her comrades in an attempt to meet him.
The incident only added to Riveria's frustration.
"There's movement up ahead," Tiona said suddenly, interrupting Riveria's thoughts.
"Could someone have fought Goliath before us?"
