Chapter 219 - Fighting The Monster Rex!

The group of four moved forward through the passage, discussing the recent changes in Ais and condemning Mahiro for being the cause of them. 

Even Riveria, who usually showed little interest in matters outside of her Familia's expeditions, seemed inclined to teach Mahiro a lesson. 

Then, suddenly. 

A tremor rippled through the ground beneath their feet. 

Boom!

At first, the tremor was faint. 

But gradually, the vibrations became stronger and stronger. 

Then, a low rumble echoed from afar. 

However, the four were well aware that the sound only seemed distant—had it been closer, the sheer force of it could have rattled their ears. 

"Is it coming from ahead?"

"Could someone have gotten there before us and started fighting Goliath?" 

Tione frowned, staring intently forward. 

"There's no mistaking it. This kind of movement can only be caused by the monster rex." 

Tiona's expression shifted to excitement as she looked ahead with curiosity. 

"But aside from us, who else would take on the floor boss?" 

Defeating a floor boss was a mission officially issued by the Guild. 

The Guild had specifically entrusted the Loki Familia with the task of subjugating the floor boss on the 17th floor. 

In other words, before Loki Familia received the mission, no one else should have fight the boss. 

Besides, ignoring a Guild-issued mission to take on the floor boss independently was highly unusual. 

Guild missions were lucrative. 

By accepting a Guild mission, adventurers could not only claim the official reward but also obtain the valuable drops from the floor boss. 

Double the rewards—who wouldn't want that? 

So why would anyone forgo the Guild's commission and challenge the boss on their own? 

"It's possible that an adventurer accidentally provoked Goliath and woke it up," Riveria speculated, a serious expression appearing on her delicate face. 

Ais, the calmest among them, was also the fastest.

"Follow her!" 

Without hesitation, Riveria gave the command and chased after Ais. 

Tione and Tiona exchanged glances before quickly following.

After breaking free, Goliath let out an earth-shaking roar and charged at Mahiro. 

Each massive step it took caused the ground to quake violently. 

Every spot Goliath stepped on shattered under the sheer weight of its enormous body. 

Standing at an intimidating height of seven or eight meters, the monster moved like a living mountain. 

ROAR!!

Goliath bellowed, signaling its charge. 

The air trembled with its brutal aura as it barreled toward Mahiro like an unstoppable force of nature. 

Mahiro remained still, watching the approaching giant. 

Feeling the floor tremble beneath him, a glimmer of interest appeared in his eyes—along with a sense of anticipation. 

A powerful wind howled through the chamber. 

The gust had been generated purely from Goliath swinging its massive fist. 

Yet, instead of retreating, Mahiro advanced. 

With firm footing, he gripped the Zanpakutō tightly and charged straight toward the monstrous foe. 

In an instant, the two figures—one large, one small—collided. 

BOOM!

The impact sent shockwaves rippling in all directions, shaking the entire chamber. 

Mahiro raised the weapon in defense, gripping the hilt tightly with one hand while pressing against the blade with the other to absorb the impact of Goliath's attack. 

Even after blocking the attack, Mahiro had to adjusted his stance into a defensive position to redirect the force of the blow. 

By skillfully angling the Zanpakutō, he managed to deflect more than half of Goliath's raw power. 

Even so, the remaining force sent a dull ache through Mahiro's arm, making his hands tingle slightly. 

"This power..." 

Mahiro shook his head with a wry smile. 

From this single exchange, he understood one thing—facing Goliath head-on with sheer physical strength alone was a mistake. 

This floor boss was, without a doubt, the most powerful opponent he had encountered coming here.

More accurately, it had overwhelming brute force. 

A fighter like Koneko would still be slightly weaker than Goliath. 

For an adventurer, this kind of raw power was beyond even an average Level 4—perhaps even Level 5. 

But that wasn't surprising. 

Despite being classified as a Level 4 monster, Goliath's sheer physical prowess exceeded that of most first-class adventurers. 

After all— 

A game's boss was never similar to the players at the same level. 

When it came to durability and raw power, Goliath could rival Level 4—possibly even Level 5. 

Yet, despite its immense strength, it was still rated as a Level 4.

"Too slow." 

As Goliath's first punch failed to land, it raised its other massive fist to strike again. 

But Mahiro didn't even need to use Shunpo. 

With ease, he sidestepped the sluggish attack. 

That was Goliath's fatal weakness. 

Its agility and speed—were unbearably slow. 

Even a weak Level 3 adventurer, or a particularly fast Level 2, could dodge its attacks. 

Goliath was a brute-force monster, relying solely on raw strength. 

No skills. 

No magic. 

Nothing but sheer size and power. 

That made things much easier. 

Against such a slow-moving behemoth, overwhelming it was simple. 

Dodging Goliath's attack, Mahiro countered with swift footwork. 

With an agile leap, he landed on Goliath's arm and sprinted upward in a blur. 

Then hyourinmaru in his grip gleamed in the dim light. 

Shhh—!

The weapon cut through Goliath's thick arm.

AHHHHHHHH!

The wounded Goliath roared in agony. 

But its monstrous instincts took over. 

With its uninjured arm, it swung blindly, trying to force Mahiro away.
