Chapter 95: Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 62.2
What followed were a series of incomprehensible phrases, warnings about the dangers of spells, and advice on building a solid foundation. Students erupted in laughter, and the classroom was filled with a lively atmosphere.
Wayne sarcastically remarked, "Professor, you didn't buy your position, did you? No wonder Cedric said that the food at Hogwarts has improved a lot this year."
Cedric, who was weeding devil's snare in the greenhouse, suddenly sneezed, startling the plant, which then wrapped its vines around him from all sides. It took him quite some time to break free.
Cedric was puzzled. "Weird, why did I suddenly sneeze?"
Meanwhile, in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Qilo lost his temper for the first time and deducted five points from Hufflepuff. Wayne had achieved his goal and stopped persisting.
After class, his roommate Norman approached Wayne in the crowd, confused.
"Why do you seem a bit off today?"
"Not quite," Wayne shook his head. "I just feel that having a professor like this is a bit of a waste of time."
"What do you think we'll learn this year?"
Upon hearing Wayne's words, Norman felt the same way. Up until now, he had only learned one disarming spell on his own; what was taught in class was useless.
Not only Norman, but several other little wizards around also showed agreement.
A Ravenclaw girl comforted him, "Wayne, you don't need to be too harsh on yourself. I heard that the Defense Against the Dark Arts position is cursed; no one has ever lasted a full year in it."
"A year…" Wayne nodded regretfully. "There are only seven years total at Hogwarts, and now we've wasted a year."
"We're not too bad, but those fifth and seventh-year seniors must be suffering greatly."
After saying this, he walked away genuinely.
Wayne's words quickly spread among several houses. As he had said, the fifth and seventh-year students were indeed in great distress. The OWLs and NEWTs examiners were not to be trifled with.
"What's the point of worrying about your professors? They'll only assess us according to the Ministry of Magic's requirements. So right now, the seniors are all feeling overwhelmed and can only rely on self-study and talent. But what can we do about it? All we can do is write a few lines in private and then continue our struggle with studying.
As night fell, the common room of Hufflepuff was unusually lively since tomorrow was the weekend.
"Cough cough! Everyone!"
Wayne pointed his wand at his throat and amplified his voice, drawing the attention of the entire room.
"Wayne, what's wrong with you?" Cedric asked, puzzled, not knowing why he was acting so strangely.
"Don't interrupt," Wayne shot him a glare and pulled out a piece of parchment.
"How much do you think it costs to buy a loaf of bread?"
"Sorry, wrong paper."
The common room erupted with thunderous laughter, and Wayne's two roommates were laughing so hard they could barely breathe. This only piqued the curiosity of more people about what Wayne was up to.
