Chapter 96: Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 62.3
So, when he took out a second piece of parchment, the room fell completely silent. Everyone was watching him.
"Fellow Hufflepuff students, seniors," he began. "I believe everyone knows how important the Defense Against the Dark Arts course is."
"We have the greatest headmaster in the world, the most powerful white wizard of this century. We have the strictest yet most competent Transfiguration professor. We have the kindest and gentlest Herbology master as our Herbology professor. We also have the patient and ever-winning dueling champion as our Charms professor. And of course, we have a Potions professor who, although sharp-tongued, neglects personal hygiene, and shows favoritism towards one particular house, has undeniable skills."
"But what we really lack is a qualified Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who is willing to teach us real magic."
Gradually, smiles faded from the faces of the younger students. Cedric's eyes widened, wanting to stop Wayne from continuing, but the boy's glare kept him seated.
Wayne continued his impassioned speech: "Right now, we are in the darkest period in Hogwarts' history; we are about to waste a whole year."
"In this year, we won't learn anything useful from our Defense Against the Dark Arts class, nor will it help us effectively pass our graduation exams."
"I know all the professors are respectable," he added, "but our needs should also be taken seriously."
"It's been a month since the school year started, and I can't imagine how much magic we'll learn by the end of the first year to protect ourselves."
"But I know, our enemies have already emerged."
"They will tarnish Hogwarts' image in everyone's hearts; they will destroy the harmonious campus that Headmaster Dumbledore created."
"I must do something!"
Wayne wore an expression of heroic sacrifice. "The reason I am taking up your time today is just to let you know, if I get expelled by the headmaster, I'll miss you all."
Upon hearing about expulsion, Hannah couldn't help but stand up.
"Wayne, what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to write a letter to the headmaster to report Professor Quirrell's negligence. Even if I fail, Quirrell won't get away with it."
Wayne displayed a bitter smile. "At that point, maybe everyone will have the chance to get a new and good professor."
"Wayne, let it go." The younger students were moved by Wayne's passion. "We can self-study too. Although it might be slower, we'll still learn something."
The boy made a face of disdain. "How many self-study students are there in Hufflepuff?"
Everyone fell silent. In reality, they didn't study much outside of class. The motto was to go with the flow.
"You all don't need to worry about me!" Wayne sniffled. "Tomorrow morning, I'll go to the headmaster's office!"
After saying this, he turned and walked into the boys' dormitory, leaving everyone staring at one another in surprise.
