Chapter 537: Chapter 537: The Terrifying Power of Fate
"Professor Dumbledore, this way!"
Now that the decision had been made, Andy wasted no time. He pulled Dumbledore into the lavatory cubicle and put the Time Turner's chain around their necks.
"Well... Professor, how many turns?" Andy asked.
"Three hours!" Dumbledore responded.
Andy nodded slightly and turned the Time Turner three times.
With the scenery around them receding like drifting clouds, Andy and Dumbledore travelled back three hours.
After putting the Time Turner away, Andy asked, "Professor, how should we get there? By Phoenix?"
"Of course!" Dumbledore raised his arm, motioning for Andy to place his hand on it.
"It will be a novel experience," Andy commented as he placed his hand on Dumbledore's arm.
The next second, a ball of flames ignited around Andy and Dumbledore, and the flames engulfed the two of them in an instant before quickly disappearing.
Along with the flames, Andy and Dumbledore disappeared.
The isolated island, where Azkaban is located.
Andy had been here once before, so he recognised the place at a glance.
"How convenient!" Andy exclaimed with envy.
The Phoenix truly makes a good pet.
It is immortal; its tears can heal and detoxify; and it can manipulate fire and teleport anywhere.
If necessary, it can shield you from the Killing Curse.
It is simply the perfect assistant!
If Harry Potter were made into a card game, Andy feels that the chances of drawing even a fragment of the Phoenix might be slim, or else it would be an underestimation of the Phoenix's abilities.
"The Phoenix is truly magnificent, indeed."
Dumbledore praised the Phoenix, then looked up in the direction of Azkaban Prison and said slowly, "It seems we need to wait patiently for a while."
When it came to this matter, Andy also had a lot of doubts and questions.
"Professor, why are we here?"
Andy frowned and asked, "I mean…we are here in Azkaban now to complete a piece of history. So...where were we 'originally'? Why did we come here in the first place?"
This was the main reason Andy was willing to come to Azkaban with Dumbledore to rescue people.
Complete a piece of history!
Dumbledore received the letter and told Andy the content of the letter—a masked person rescued some Aurors from Voldemort.
Then this piece of history must happen!
If there is no masked person, a masked person must be fabricated.
Otherwise, the order of time and space will be disrupted, and the consequences will be unpredictable.
So Andy had to come.
Then the question arises: if the masked man really is Andy, why did the original Andy come to the rescue in the first place?
According to the timeline:
Voldemort raided Azkaban, and the Aurors were overwhelmed, but the masked man appeared and held off Voldemort, allowing some of the Aurors to escape.
The Ministry of Magic wrote to Dumbledore to inform him of the incident, and Dumbledore then informed Andy of the letter.
The two of them judged that the true identity of the masked man would most likely be either Andy or Dumbledore.
So Andy and Dumbledore used the Time Turner to go back three hours and arrived at Azkaban.
However, there were numerous instances where the logic was not clear.
This was the first time Andy had encountered a situation like this.
It was unpredictable and unfathomable.
Dumbledore looked at Andy and said slowly, "Collins, our present is determined by our past."
Andy frowned slightly at this.
Dumbledore continued, "I can see that you are confused."
"If 'we' came here knowing the appearance of a masked man, then... before we used the Time Turner, how did the version of ourselves appear in Azkaban three hours ago?"
"Indeed…" Andy nodded.
This is where it doesn't ring true!
Dumbledore looked at Andy and smiled faintly, saying, "Of course, it was also us! Because we have now returned three hours ago and have also come to Azkaban."
Andy: "…"
That's just nonsense!
After a moment of silence, Andy suddenly asked, "Professor, what is this power?"
If all of this was meant to happen, then Andy could only think that some kind of mysterious power had manipulated it all.
Fate?
Andy thought again about the prophecy about Voldemort.
Due to a series of coincidences, Voldemort appeared in the house in Godric's Hollow thirteen years ago and used the Killing Curse on baby Harry, fulfilling the prophecy.
It seemed as if there were infinite possibilities.
But in reality, everything seemed to be a foregone conclusion.
Dumbledore turned and looked out at the endless sea without answering Andy's question.
"Fate..." Andy muttered to himself.
This incident was like an inevitable loop from which nothing could escape without fate's permission.
Andy thought back over the whole thing, from beginning to end, in minute detail.
From meeting Ron in the Great Hall to meeting Dumbledore in the school hospital wing, and then finally... Andy and Dumbledore using the Time Turner to go to Azkaban...
It was as if an invisible hand was manipulating everything behind the scenes.
It made Andy feel a cold shiver down his spine!
"Professor, is this a side effect of using the Time Turner?" Andy asked another question.
"Maybe not,"
Dumbledore said softly, "At least Miss Granger hasn't experienced this problem, nor have any of the previous students."
"There is always a reason for someone to want to go back in time...Collins, perhaps the answer is in your heart."
After a pause, Dumbledore suddenly looked sideways at Andy and asked a question: "If I weren't here, would you come?"
Of course not!
There was no need to answer this question at all.
Andy had neither the confidence to challenge Voldemort nor the desire to save the lives of those Aurors. There was nothing in Azkaban that he needed.
Andy struggled to come up with a reason for his presence here.
Seeing Andy's silence, Dumbledore said with a hint of deep meaning, "Perhaps...you haven't found that reason yet."
"Yet?" Andy raised an eyebrow.
According to Dumbledore, Andy would get a reason to come to Azkaban to save someone... Could such a thing happen?
"Never mind..."
Andy suddenly laughed lightly. "In the end, the truth will become clear. Besides... maybe the masked man isn't even one of us."
"Right, there is another possibility..."
Having said that, Andy turned to Dumbledore and said, "Professor, you wanted to save someone, so you asked me to lend you the Time Turner. As for me, I just tagged along to see what would happen. That's all!"
Andy felt that this explanation might be more reasonable.
As for who the masked man really was...
When he appeared, naturally everything would become clear.
