Hokage:Overturning Ninja world

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: They Should Be Afraid

Logan picked up a roasted rabbit leg and tossed it across the fire.

Konan caught it but didn't eat. Her eyes remained sharp, wary. "What did you do to me?" she asked again.

"I just want to have a peaceful conversation," Logan replied.

He had already read Konan's memories—her past with Nagato, her connection to Jiraiya. A group of war orphans trying to bring peace to a chaotic world… it was brave. Noble, even.

But ideals like that always get crushed by the rules of the world.

Hanzo the Salamander, who forced Yahiko to his death. The masked man who manipulated their plans. The clashing ideals within the Akatsuki. All of it—products of a broken system.

"Your original goal is being twisted," Logan said. "You're heading toward a different kind of hell."

Konan's eyes narrowed. "What do you know? You're a Konoha shinobi—you have no idea what civilians in weak countries suffer when war breaks out."

"I know," Logan said simply. "I didn't live through it myself, but history remembers the pain."

"History?" Konan echoed, clearly confused.

This world had always treated history like a vague rumor. Ninja schools and clans deliberately erased large pieces of it. As a result, the same conflicts repeated over generations—villages, clans, and shinobi killing the same enemies, making the same mistakes.

Logan waved his hand dismissively. "You don't have to get it all at once. I'm not here to change your mind with a speech. Once people become adults, their beliefs don't change easily."

"For now, just follow me. I have some people to meet. Some things to do."

Konan clenched her fists. Logan really saw her as a prisoner. Worse, even though her chakra was fully restored, she couldn't bring herself to escape or attack him.

"Don't worry," Logan added. "I'll provide food and shelter."

He tore off another piece of rabbit meat. Beneath the crisp, charred skin, the meat was juicy and steaming. Logan sprinkled some seasoning from a small box and held it out. "Want some?"

Konan glared at him. "What are you planning to do with me?"

Logan tossed the seasoning box over to her. "Simple. I want you to be a bridge between me and Nagato. Maybe after everything you see from here on out, you'll change your mind."

Nagato was different. He wasn't just rebelling against a village or a clan—he wanted to overthrow the world's systems themselves. Logan respected that.

But the current Nagato was too far gone. Yahiko's death, the manipulation of the masked man—it had made him paranoid.

Logan needed a middleman.

Konan snorted. "Why would I help you?"

Logan shrugged. "Who knows."

She stared at him like he was insane.

Was he seriously planning to manipulate her with a genjutsu forever? Did he really think she wouldn't find a loophole and try to kill him?

Then she remembered—Logan's nearly immortal body.

"Tch."

Even Konan, usually calm and composed, let out a rare click of the tongue.

But her stomach betrayed her. She was hungry, and both escape and assassination required energy. Without another word, she opened the box of seasoning and began to eat, nibbling carefully at the meat.

They ate in silence for a while.

Eventually, Konan looked up again. "What's your real goal?"

Logan thought for a moment, then raised the rabbit leg in his hand.

"I didn't always know how to do this—catch, clean, and cook a rabbit. A kid once taught me. Showed me how to skin it, remove the guts, grill the meat just right, when to apply oil, and when to sprinkle seasoning."

He threw the bone into the fire.

"He was a good kid. Polite. Kind. He cared about people weaker than him."

"But his whole family was dead."

"He's dying too."

Logan looked at Konan and smiled, though there was no joy in it. "You asked what I want? I want to stop that kind of thing. The kind of tragedy that's so awful, it makes you sick just hearing about it—I don't want it to keep happening."

Konan stared at him, eyes wide.

There was something heavy in his gaze—like it carried the weight of all those tragedies.

Logan looked away and shook his head.

Being a prisoner was never pleasant. Especially when your own will was constantly clashing with someone else's commands. The internal conflict Konan was feeling now… he knew it well.

So Logan gave her some space.

He opened his system interface to review his recent gains.

Soul Fragments:

After extracting the White Snake, he'd had 1,090 left. Killing Orochimaru had earned him 600 more. Defeating Konan gave him 870. And the scattered shinobi from the Hidden Sound had added even more.

Total soul fragments: 2,680.

Stand Upgrades:

To level up Star Platinum from 3 to 4 required 2,000 soul fragments. But thanks to prior experience points from card draws, Logan only needed 1,730 more.

He confirmed the upgrade.

A soft light surrounded Star Platinum, making it more solid—its eyes gleamed with starlight.

Everything in the world slowed to a crawl under its gaze.

Even if ten thousand attacks came at once, Star Platinum could track them, then smash them all apart with its fists.

"Slow motion... is this the prerequisite for Time Stop?" Logan wondered.

In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, time manipulation came in two flavors. The World used gears and mechanical precision to freeze time. Star Platinum, on the other hand, relied on superhuman speed and perception.

Both achieved similar effects—but with vastly different principles.

Now that Star Platinum was level 4, upgrading it again would require 4,000 fragments.

Logan was eager to see what would happen when it reached level 5. Maybe, just maybe, it would unlock the full "Time Stop" ability.

He still had 950 fragments left.

He decided to spend 400 to upgrade White Snake to level 2.

The moment it leveled up, the White Snake became faster at extracting discs and casting illusions. It gave Logan a thumbs-up and grinned. "Smart choice, boss."

It clearly wanted to chat more, but with Konan still nearby, Logan shot it a look and dismissed it.

Current Stand Lineup:

Star Platinum (5★) - Level 4

White Snake (5★) - Level 2

Aerosmith (5★) - Level 2

Hermit Purple (4★) - Level 1

Melee, ranged, reconnaissance, illusion—all covered. And unlike most Stand users, Logan didn't have a weak body holding him back.

In fact, aside from Star Platinum, Logan's own raw power now surpassed that of most of his Stands.

He clenched a fist.

Even outside of battle, the natural forces and ripple energy within him were constantly refining his body. When he went all-out, he could defy gravity and fly.

He barely even needed food anymore. Sunlight and breathing were almost enough to sustain him.

"Self-cultivation... flying... fasting…" he muttered. "Is this ripple breathing… actual cultivation?"

"Hey!"

Konan's voice pulled him back.

Logan tossed her an orange from his backpack. "Feeling better?"

"You said you were going to meet some people and experience some things…" Konan said. "Where are we going first?"

"It's hard to say what comes after," Logan replied, "but I can tell you the first stop."

He turned to face her.

"I'm going to Konoha—to save someone."

Konan shot to her feet. "Konoha? You still dare to go there? Aren't you afraid?"

Logan's expression didn't change.

"They're the ones who should be afraid."
