Chapter 73: Chapter 73: One Cut, Two Cuts
Logan had learned from Konan's memory disc that Yagura was being controlled by the masked man.
The conflict between the reformists and the diehards was common knowledge. Combined with the recent personnel shifts in Kirigakure, it wasn't hard to predict unrest brewing in the village—especially not for someone with the masked man's intelligence network.
And that raised one critical question:
Would the masked man come?
Logan believed he would.
Years of manipulation and effort, a Kage-level puppet, and countless interwoven interests... No one would give all that up easily.
Since the first day he arrived in Kirigakure, Logan had been waiting for the masked man to show his face.
Unfortunately, his understanding of the man was still limited. There was no stable chain of causality to track him, so he couldn't use Hermit Purple the same way he had with Orochimaru. All he could do was stay vigilant.
"Here I come!"
Logan glanced at his opponents.
Obito hurled chakra chains from his palms.
Pain, wielding a short black rod, advanced beside him.
Logan quickly recalled their abilities.
The masked man—last seen using his space-time jutsu to phase through attacks and teleport people. Intangible, untouchable when he wanted to be.
Pain, the Deva Path—Logan had seen him in Konan's memories. A puppet remotely controlled by Nagato using Yahiko's corpse, possessing the ability to manipulate gravity.
Logan assessed the situation and made his move.
He grabbed Yagura and tossed him at Obito like a living grenade.
A Tailed Beast Bomb surged from Yagura's mouth.
The explosion struck, but both the shockwave and Yagura passed right through Obito harmlessly.
Intangible. As expected.
Logan reached for the chain whipping toward him—but his fingers passed through it. No contact. No damage.
"As long as the masked man stays intangible, his attacks can't be countered," Logan thought.
He summoned Aerosmith.
Da-da-da-da-da!
A hail of bullets tore through Obito's body, passing harmlessly again.
"If he ever flinches or blocks, the intangibility is off. Until then, ignore him."
Logan turned toward Pain.
"One on one."
Star Platinum broke free from Logan's body and lunged at Pain with explosive speed, fist cocked.
Pain, already on guard, spread his arms wide.
"Shinra Tensei!"
The repulsive force slammed into Star Platinum, sending it flying backward just inches from landing a blow.
But Star Platinum adjusted midair, grabbed Logan's outstretched arm, and flung him forward with a surge of speed.
Blade raised, Logan rocketed toward Pain like a missile.
For a moment, Pain hesitated.
Who is the Stand, and who is the real person?
Shinra Tensei had a five-second cooldown. Logan knew that. He was betting on it.
But just as he closed in, a swish sounded behind him.
Boom—!
Missiles exploded mid-air. Shurado had launched a barrage. Thick smoke billowed from its body, flames trailing behind each projectile.
With no time to summon Star Platinum again, Logan abandoned the attack and swung his sword, slicing through every missile in midair.
The resulting shockwave blew both him and Pain apart, creating distance once more.
Logan landed cleanly.
Pain and Obito stood unharmed.
The first clash between both sides had lasted mere seconds. Many onlookers didn't even comprehend what had happened. Their only impression:
It was terrifying.
No hand seals.
Abilities that defied logic.
Fighting styles that felt inhuman.
Veteran Kirigakure ninjas, who hadn't left the village in decades, whispered among themselves:
"What are these monsters? Has the world outside developed this far?"
---
ROOOAAARR!!!
A deep, monstrous cry shattered their thoughts.
Buildings collapsed. Dust filled the air—ripped apart by a massive turtle-like creature, nearly twenty meters tall, covered in thorns.
The Three-Tails, Isobu.
Tailed Beast Full Release.
Yagura's voice, now filled with hatred and fury, echoed from the beast.
"Logan—!"
Pain and Obito landed on the beast's back, gazing down at Logan from afar.
"That's all?" Pain asked coldly.
"Yes," Obito replied. "Logan's abilities... that's basically it."
Close-range: Star Platinum, White Snake, Logan himself.
Mid- and long-range: Hermit Purple, Aerosmith.
And one special ability: Rainbow Catcher.
They had observed Logan ever since Konoha and noted how he manipulated rain during his battles. But since it hadn't rained in Kirigakure recently, Rainbow Catcher hadn't appeared.
So as far as they were concerned—
"That's basically it," Obito confirmed.
He activated his Sharingan and said with chilling calm:
"Logan, you're troublesome. I like to end trouble fast—cut the Gordian knot. If you don't have a new ability, I'm sorry…"
"You're going to die here."
Isobu began charging a Tailed Beast Bomb.
Shurado split apart—dozens of cannons unleashing a storm of missiles.
Obito performed hand seals.
"Fire Style: Great Fire Annihilation!"
All three attacks converged—on an empty space.
Everyone blinked in confusion.
Then Pain raised his hand and pointed at Logan.
"Universal Pull!"
Logan's body flew forward, unable to resist the gravitational pull. He tried to dodge—but there was no ground to push off from. Star Platinum tried to deflect him, but the pull intensified.
Pain's Universal Pull was more terrifying than Shinra Tensei—absolute control.
There were only two options:
Kill Pain.
Or stay trapped.
Both led to the same conclusion—being hit simultaneously by a Tailed Beast Bomb, a missile barrage, and a massive fire-style jutsu.
Even with stronger regeneration than Orochimaru, Logan wouldn't survive that.
It was all according to Obito's plan.
"Logan, I admit you're strong," Obito said. "But I've seen stronger—and I'm the one still alive. Every human has a limit. And you…"
"Are about to reach yours."
---
Terumi Mei launched defensive Water-Style barriers.
Zabuza gritted his teeth and rushed forward, using the corpses of diehards as shields.
Mayuri unleashed Ice Release, sharp cones aimed at Obito.
But it was too late.
The three attacks were about to land.
Whoosh—
A sudden gust of wind swept through the battlefield. Natural forces fused with Logan's body, flowing into the Sword of Destruction.
The massive blade grew again—now cloaked in a golden lightning aura.
Obito only sneered.
He'd accounted for this.
Logan's sword might be strong—but he would be vaporized before he could use it.
Snap—
A faint sound echoed through the battlefield—like a strand of hair being severed.
And then—
Gone.
The Tailed Beast Bomb, missiles, and fire jutsu vanished—erased like chalk from a board.
"What?!"
Obito was stunned.
Even Pain lost control of Universal Pull. In the distance, Nagato nearly lost contact with the Deva and Asura Paths.
Logan hadn't awakened a new ability.
But someone else had.
Sasuke.
Ever since leaving Konoha, Sasuke had been training non-stop—sharpening his senses and techniques. In those moments of intense concentration, he could hear a "strange uncle's" voice again.
And with it, he had awakened a new ability:
To erase any jutsu within his field of vision.
Only for a moment.
Once that moment passed, the effect would vanish. If the enemy attacked again, Sasuke would need time to recover before using it again.
But that single moment was enough.
"Trump cards exist for moments like this," Sasuke muttered, his forehead bleeding, his face pale.
"Brother Logan—now!"
Logan gave him a nod.
The child who once could only cry helplessly had become a true comrade.
Star Platinum hurled Logan into the air. The 100-meter golden blade cut through the mist that had shrouded Kirigakure for generations.
Isobu trembled.
He had been locked on.
Logan didn't speak.
He simply swung his sword.
A crack split the Three-Tails' shell.
After a moment's resistance, the crack widened, revealing flesh and bone.
The blade did not stop.
It cleaved the beast in two.
> "Killed Jinchūriki Yagura. Gained 1,500 soul fragments."
Logan landed softly. Steam hissed from the blade of destruction, embedded in the ground as the remains of the Three-Tails fell to both sides.
"Would've been easier being a man. Why'd you have to be a turtle?"
He gave a slight shake of his head, then turned to face the final threats.
Obito and Pain.
"Now… it's your turn."
