In the end, Todo had to go in a separate way after receiving a call out of nowhere.
Of course, he and Todo exchanged LINE numbers, in case the two of them ever want to hang out sometime. Boy's night out to be exact.
As for Tomoko and Alya, Kenshin insisted on taking Alya to the train station.
This time, they finally exchanged LINE numbers, to keep in contact with each other and also for her incoming magical lessons.
Yes, Kenshin decided to keep his word and teach her the magical lessons she'd always wanted.
When he questioned her about what kind of magic spells she'd like to learn.
She emphasized on spells that are eerily similar to Clones, enhancing her brain capacity, spells that would keep her mentally calm and body inexhausted, and such things.
Kenshin then concluded that almost the reason she wanted to learn magic was to simply make her academic life easier all by herself instead of relying on others whom she mumbled about being useless and having no dreams in life.
Kenshin stopped asking her at that point. He could already tell how her mind works.
As for now, it seems like her train of thought is the same as before her story.
Arriving at the nearby station, Kenshin kept a watchful eye on her until she stepped onto the train.
"Bye~" Tomoko waved her hand at Alya on the train's window before flashing a smug grin.
Alya, trapped inside the train, could only squint her eyes and glare at her.
Once the train had left the station, the two Kuroki siblings left.
"Let's go home."
"Okay!" Tomoko flashed a smile and grabbed Kenshin's hand, interlocking her fingers with his.
As much as Kenshin wants to snap his hand away but Tomoko would then throw a tantrum and he can't have it for now, especially since they're in public.
So their walk back home was filled with Tomoko basking in joy and Kenshin being in the opposite—slightly praying in his mind that Tomoko wouldn't do more than just hold his hand.
***
Back home, they were greeted with a fancy meal prepared by their mother.
Seeing the happy smile on Tomoko's face, Mrs. Kuroki couldn't help but ask her daughter.
"So, how's outside, Tomoko?" Of course, her question would be more on Tomoko being outside for the first time.
"It was fun! Onii-chan and I went to this cosplay convention and met an actual Albijo Gorilla roaming around!"
"Pfft!" Hearing her description of obviously Alya, Kenshin couldn't help but spit out the water that he was drinking.
"Really! Amazing! I've never seen a gorilla before, much less an albino one! It seems like it was right to make your brother bring you along outside!" Mrs. Kuroki, of course, wouldn't care less about the details, preferring to hear that her daughter, who looked like she had been depressed and a war veteran undergoing PTSD just a few days ago, finally recovered slightly.
"How about you, Ken-kun. Did you also have fun?" She shifted her attention to the eldest child.
"….It was alright. The Albino Gorilla was surprisingly better looking than someone who has been holed up in her room for an entire month." Kenshin took a scoop of rice and replied with a simple shrug before taking it in his mouth.
Crack!
Ignoring the frozen Tomoko, Kenshin finished his meal in silence before leaving the dining room.
***
Lying on the bed, Kenshin flipped his phone and quickly opened the LINE app before sending a message to the newest contact, Alya.
{Kenshin: Yo!}
{Alya:….Hey!}
{Kenshin: Just a quick heads up. We're doing the magic lesson in your place! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ }
{Alya: Wait what?! We didn't agree on that!}
Seeing the panicked message, Kenshin chuckled and replied.
{Kenshin: No can do! I'm your sensei and you must listen to your sensei! ( ùᗜú)}
{Alya: That's not fair!}
{Kenshin: All is fair in love and war, my dear student! Just send me your address and I'll handle everything.}
Ignoring the constant pings on his phone, Kenshin turned it off and proceeded to lie on the bed.
Unbeknownst to him, due to his sudden decision, the girl on the other side was indeed panicking.
***
After sending more and more messages that constantly tried to refuse him, the boy she was texting with was no longer responding to or seeing her messages.
"This can't be happening! There's no way I'm bringing a boy into my home!" Alya frantically muttered to herself as she immediately paced around her room, cleaning every nook and cranny of the room.
Not even the deepest corner of the ceiling was spared.
"Alya-chan? What's with the nois-?" Opening the door slightly, her older sister, Maria was stunned to see Alya blitzing around the room, carrying a bunch of trash and dirty clothes.
"No time to talk!" Alya's voice echoed in her ears as she passed by her.
"….Are you cleaning, Alya-chan? Why didn't you call your onee-san for help?" Crossing her arms, Maria pouted before deciding to help her little sister.
A few minutes passed and the room was finally sparkling clean.
"Now, tell me what's going on." Standing in front of Alya who is lying exhausted on the bed, her chest heaving up and down.
"…." Alya remained silent, unsure whether to tell her sister the truth or not.
"Alya…." However, seeing the big grin on her face and the fact that she'll inevitably know about it in the upcoming days, Alya sighed and decided to reveal it.
"S-Someone's coming tomorrow. It's a friend of mine."
Gasp!
"You have a friend!?"
"Wha--That's not—!? What do you mean I have a friend!? Do I look like I don't have one?" Embarrassed, Alya tried to salvage whatever dignity she had left.
However, seeing the look of pity on her sister's face just made it all worse.
"I hate you…" She muttered while looking away.
"Aww! I was just joking with you, Alya-chan! Don't be mad at Onee-san, okayyy?" Grabbing her head, Maria buried it into her large bosom.
Boing!
"So, who's the friend that could make Alya-chan become a clean freak all of a sudden?"
"It's…." Sensing something amiss just by the hesitant look on her face, Maria's Onee-san senses are tingling!
"It's a boy! I knew it!" Maria suddenly accused with a pointy finger, causing Alya to jump in fright!
"Hiiee!~"
"Hehehe~ I knew my Alya-chan definitely inherited Onee-san's looks!" Touching her cheeks softly, Maria wiped a small non-existent tear from her right eye.
"N-No! That's not what I meant! He's just a friend!" Alya clenched her teeth and tried to knock some sense into her.
Unfortunately for her, Maria has already decided in her mind.
"That's what people usually go through first, Imouto! Start with friends, and then to a best friend, and finally, couples!"
"Don't worry, Alya-chan. You're on the right track! Keep up the good work!" Maria blinked with a thumbs-up.
"Onee-san!"
***
The next morning, Kenshin woke up much earlier than usual before doing his morning routine and quietly left.
There's a reason for that.
He just doesn't want his mom to urge him to bring his little sister again. What he's about to do today shouldn't be something that his family should know about.
Better to keep them in the dark to avoid unnecessary questions and drama.
Once outside, instead of taking the bus to the train station, Kenshin decided to practice his magic on the way.
[Wind Magic: Flight]
Casting the spell, Kenshin's foot slowly left the ground, increasing his altitude per second.
The moment his height was about to reach past the buildings, he quickly cast another spell.
[Camouflage]
His handsome figure was then obscured by his surroundings, effectively turning him invisible.
Of course, he can still be detected by other means such as infrared or thermal cameras.
The Camouflage spell isn't a high-level spell after all.
Kenshin made sure not to fly that high, lest he attract some unwanted attention from various kinds of people.
His speed, on the other hand, is average at best. Flying around 80 to 100 kmph.
Too bad, his mana capacity isn't that high yet and he could only maintain the spell for an entire hour max.
If not, he could just fly over to Kyoto, where Alya's residence is.
So he just dropped himself at the train station before taking the train himself.
Almost 3 hours passed before the train finally announced.
"Kyoto Station."
Kenshin, who had been sleeping for the rest of the journey, woke up and yawned before finally leaving along with the others.
This time, instead of taking the bus, Kenshin went to a secluded alley and cast the same spells he did earlier.
Before long, he's back soaring through the skies once again.
***
"He didn't tell me when he will arrive." Peering through the window, Alya blew a part of her bangs before resting her chin on her palm.
Although she just woke up an hour earlier, for some reason, her excitement makes her impatient.
'What am I even excited for? It's not like we'll do anything other than magic lessons, right?' Calming herself down, Alya sighed and was about to leave when suddenly, she caught something on her window.
It's like the space in front of her distorts slightly. Similar to what you can normally see on videos of women using too many filters where the space bends around them, that kind of distortion.
"What the?" Curious, Alya opened the window and was about to stretch her hand out to touch it when suddenly a figure materialized in front of her. Causing her to jump back in fright.
"Kyaah!"
"Didn't your mother tell you not to open doors to strangers? Or in this case, not open the windows to something strange?" It was the familiar figure of Kenshin with his arms crossed, having a sly smile on his face while floating in the air without any support.
"…Y-You!…It's just you." Alya's face burned in a mix of anger and embarrassment and she's about to snap at Kenshin before closing her eyes and sighing, regaining her composure.
"Ouch. What do you mean by it's just me? It hurts my heart hearing it, you know?" Kenshin feigned a hurt look before grinning and winked at her.
"Can't you go through the front door like a normal person?" She complained. Though she's also hiding the fact that she's amazed at seeing Kenshin being able to fly.
"That only applies if and only if, I'm a 'normal' person but I'm not, so how about to step aside and let me i—" Before Kenshin could finish his words, he was interrupted.
"Alya-chan? Is there something wrong in there? I'm hearing a weird voice inside. I'm going in, okay?" Alya suddenly tensed up when she heard the sweet voice of her big sister from behind the door.
"Quick! Get out of here and go through the front door!" Kenshin didn't need to be told twice and immediately vanished in front of her.
At the same time, the door finally opened and Maria peeked her head inside.
"Alya-chan? Are you okay? I've been hearing a weird male voice in your room, Is there someone else in here?" While speaking, Maria was squinting her eyes and searching around the room while constantly sniffing the air to see and smell something amiss.
"What? I've been here all by myself. What are you talking about?" Inside the room, Alya bore a poker face, her expression calm and she responded with curiosity.
"…I see…" Maria muttered slowly and she continued.
"Oh and by the way, tell me when your friend is about t—" Before she could finish her words, they suddenly heard the doorbell chiming from downstairs.
Ding!
"Oh! That must be him!" Maria's face beamed with happiness and excitement before abandoning the room.
"W-Wait!" Alya's calm facade was quickly broken when she saw it.
'Why do you seem to be more excited than me!?' She complained in her mind.
***
Downstairs, Maria arrived at the front door and quickly made a short fix on herself before opening the door.
Outside, Kenshin stood straight with his hands in his pockets, wearing a navy blue casual shirt with a white shirt underneath.
Below him, he was wearing brown cargo pants along with light blue sneakers.
"Hi there. You must be Alya-san's sister. It's nice to meet you." Seeing the brown haired woman, Kenshin quickly deduced and immediately bowed his head slightly in respect.
However, Maria's next words made him stumped and frozen.
"You must be Alya-chan's boyfriend!"
"Pfft!"
