Chapter 28: Ch. 28 - Kenshin-sensei! [2]
Coincidentally, Alya was already on her way down when she heard the question Maria threw at Kenshin.
"Pfft! O-Onee-san!" Her hair flared and her cheeks reddened as she scolded Maria.
"Ara~ I got caught~" Maria's expressioned turned into someone that looks like a child got caught stealing something.
"G-Get off him! Kenshin, let's go!" Rushing past her sister, Alya grabbed Kenshin's hand before pulling him towards the stairs.
"Oh my! First name basis already?" Despite being left behind, Maria didn't found it rude and even threw another sly remark that would surely cause Alya to stumble on her way up.
Thud!
And stumble she did.
"Oi. Are you okay?" Kenshin asked her in concern while helping her up.
"I-I'm fine!" Alya quickly hid her face from him and simply dragged him towards her room before shutting it close.
Once inside, Kenshin looked around in curiosity, taking in the minimal and yet satisfying interior of her room.
Unlike other girls her age, Alya's room doesn't have anything too girly, no posters, no too much pink stuff and etc.
Perhaps, the only girly thing in the room is the silver-coloured stuffed bunny resting on the corner of her bed, near the bedside table.
"Cute." Was Kenshin's comment to her room.
"W-W-What do you mean cute." Alya blushed slightly at his comment.
"Your room. It's cute." Kenshin clarified.
"R-Really?" Alya darted her eyes around everywhere except for Kenshin. Looks like the hours she spent cleaning her room is now bearing its fruits.
"Yup. Now, let's get down to business, magical business." Standing up, Kenshin made his way to the front door much to Alya's confusion.
Fwoosh!
Touching the door, Kenshin's hand flashed in gold before a weird scribble appeared on the door's surface, bearing the same color as the flash of light.
"What did you do?" Alya asked like a curious cat.
"It's rune scribbling. Basically allows you to add or edit an effect in any kinds of items. In this case, I made the door so that anyone near it would immediately alert us. We don't want your sister knowing about magic, do we?" As Kenshin finished his explanation, the scribble on the door suddenly started flashing in red light.
"Just like that. Your sister must be on her way here." Right exactly as he said those words, there was a knock on the door.
Knock!
Knock!
"Alya-chan? Is it okay for me to enter, right?" Before Alya could even respond with her answer, the door was already opened and Maria came striding in with a soft smile on her face.
"I let myself in~" Her words trailed.
"Why did you even asked for my permission when you're gonna enter anyway!" Alya scolded her sister once again.
"Ehe~" Maria knocked on her own head and cutely spit her tongue.
"What do you mean byEhe! What are you even doing here?" Alya sighed in defeat when she realized that no matter what she do, her sister wouldn't probably listen to her.
On the other hand, Kenshin simply watched their interaction with interest, comparing Alya's situation with his but the opposite.
Whereas on Alya's side, her older sister is the annoying and immature while with him it's his little sister, Tomoko.
'She's just like me for real!' Kenshin jokingly screamed in his mind.
"Nothing. Nothing. I just want to check out on you too and make sure the boy is behaving well, after all, as your Onee-chan, it is my responsibility to look after your womanhood."
"W-W-What are you talking about! What about my womanhood!" Finally, Alya had enough of her sister's antics and immediately pushed her out of the room, thankfully not noticing the rune scribble on the door.
"Shes's fun to talk to." Once she was out, Kenshin teased her, causing her to glare at him in return.
"Don't start now."
"Gomen. Gomen." Kenshin apologized.
"Alright, enough about the jokes." Kenshin immediately turned serious as he continued. Alya also turned so and sat beside Kenshin on the bed.
"Magic in a sense is like having a new limb, it may start hard and fragile like a baby trying to walk for the first time. But once you got the hold of it, using magic would feel as natural as breathing." While Kenshin explains, he stretched his handn forward and a blue swirl of energy.
"Woah." The light of the blue energy reflectred in her eyes, making a sparkling effect.
"This is the foundation of magic, the source of everything, it's called Mana. With enough control over it, you would be able to shape it into any of your desire." To show it, the orb of mana suddenly shifted and turned into a fiery hot red ball of fire.
"Like this." Kenshin proudly showed it off to her.
"...It's warm." Alya mumbled in confusion.
"Like I said, natural as breathing, once you're advanced enough, you'd be able to manipulate its effects, such as this fire, I made it so it wouldn't burn you, only you." To show the validity of his words, Kenshin grabbed a piece of paper from the table and hovered it on top of the flames, watching as the paper got licked and covered by the flames.
Next, Kenshin gently grabbed Alya's wrist and hovered it near the flames. Although hesitant and scared, Alya trusted Kenshin and watched as half of her entire hand was coated by the flames and yet she couldn't feel any searing pain or burn.
Instead, she only felt warm, like a mother's hug.
Before she knew it, tears started to well from her eyes.
"Ah...I'm crying?" Alya confusedly touched her wet cheeks and muttered.
Why is she crying like this? It's not like her mom is dead. Perhaps because she just misses her? After all, at this moment, her mother is still in Russia, accompanying her father in some business.
Is she crying because the warm of the flames reminds her of her mother's hug? Or was it something else?
Seeing this, Kenshin wasted no time and put the flames out.
"I'm sorry about that. I didn't expect it would have an effect on you like that." Kenshin apologized.
"...It's fine. Something must've gotten in my eye. Don't misunderstand! It's not like I'm crying or anything!" Quickly wiping the tears away, Alya blushingly tried to save some dignity.
"Right! Definitely something on your eyes!" Of course, Kenshin would get on board with her.
"Anyways, for starters, when learning magic, they must first have the capacity for it. Everyone have little mana on their body, courtesy of being exposed to the surrounding mana. But only a few have abov average " Seeing the nervous look on her face, Kenshin chuckled and reassured her.
"Don't worry, even if your body don't have the capacity to use magic, I could just make your body able to do so. I've already mastered magic to the point that I'm capable of granting this like a gift." Hearing Kenshin's explanation was like a boulder was released from her shoulders.
"But this one requires skin contact." Kenshin looked away while speaking.
"Hmm? Okay." Raising an eyebrow, Alya doesn't know why Kenshin looked guilty.
It's just skin contact, right? Alya stretched her hand for Kenshin to grab.
"That's not…what I meant by skin contact." Her eyebrows furrowed after hearing his words.
For some reason, she have a bad feeling about this.
"The skin contact between you and me should be close to your heart. Mana resides both in the soul and through the heart serving as the gateway. So it's either your back or your front." Finally dropping the real reason, Alya's composure was broken down and she her face turned red.
"D-D-Do you mean you have to…to touch me there?" Kenshin's breath hitched after seeing Alya's shy expression.
'Cuteness Overload!' Kenshin screamed in his mind.
"Not exactly the front. Just the back is fine. Your choice." Although on the outside, Kenshin was maintaining a poker face but he's screaming inside.
'Please choose front. Please choose front.' He prayed in his mind.
"D-Do me on the back." Alya said much to Kenshin's dismay while slowly turning around.
Just as she was about to take her clothes off, she seemed to remember something and quickly reminded Kenshin.
"W-Wait. Can you lock the door first."
"Okay!" Kenshin's reply was quick and decisive.
He rushed to the front door and after expanding his senses throughout the entire house and sensed Maria cooking something on the kitchen, he turned the lock silently.
However, the moment he turned around, his eyes widened and his nose almost bled.
Alya's bare back was facing him, her clothes scattered on the floor beside her. Her hair was tied up, giving Kenshin a view of her delicate nape that made Kenshin have the urge to kiss it.
'I didn't tell her to take off the but okay. This works well in my favor.' Kenshin muttered to himself, his eyes traced her entire back down towards near her ass before pulling his gaze away in an instant.
'Hold yourself, Kenshin. Hold yourself.' Kenshin inhaled and exhaled, using his meditation skill to calm his urge down.
"L-Let's get this over with." Why does he seem more nervous than Alya, whose literally showing her bare back to someone she just met a week ago.
Sitting behind her, Kenshin stretched his arm forward and planted his palm on her back.
Feeling each other's warmth, the two of them breathed heavily.
"I'm going in." Kenshin announced before letting his mana enter her body, specifically towards her heart.
"Ahn!~" Alya moaned, feeling the extreme heat entering her body, not hot enough to hurt her but enough for her to feel like someone was inside her body.
Kenshin meanwhile, focused on his job, letting his mana flow throughout her veins, letting it go towards her heart.
The process took minutes. It would've taken hours but thanks to his extremely high control over his mana, he was able to decrease the time from hours to mere minutes.
This is usually impossible back in the world of Fantazio but who is he? He's the hero of that world. Gifted by the gods and slayer of evil.
Even the oldest archmage of that world was beaten by him in sheer magical talent alone.
Minutes passed and Alya suddenly felt a slight prick in her heart, as if it was stabbed by a small needle.
Just as she was about to unconsciously shout in pain, it suddenly disappeared, as if it wasn't there in the first place.
"It's done." Kenshin sighed in relief as he seperated his palm from her now sweaty back.
He didn't wipe his hand.
"Are you okay? How're you feeling?" Kenshin worriedly asked.
"Huff! Huff! I'm fine. Just feeling….dizzy." Alya gulped her saliva hard and explained.
"Don't worry. It's not a bad news, it's pretty normal when unlocking someone's potential in magic." Hearing his explanation, Alya sighed in relief.
"I thought it was something bad for me." She expressed her worries.
"Hahaha! It's pretty normal! Don't worry. Now, let's get to the real deal. Now that you have access to mana, all that's left is to learn how to control it. Harness it like an extra limb." Now Kenshin felt like a true sensei, discussing the terms and instructions of mana to her.
Thanks to her high intellect, she was able to grasp the basics and now a similar blue orb floats on top of her palm, albeit a bit smaller than what he showed earlier.
"T-This is magic!" Her eyes shone at the sight of the ball on her palm.
"Yes. Magic. The source of everything." After saying that, Kenshin took out several papers out of his inventory.
Although she was surprised by the sudden apperance out of nowhere but with how magic exists, it's no surprising that something like this can be done.
"What are these?" Alya curiously asked as she picked up one of the papers and read its contents.
"How to Shape Mana for beginners by Alistair Abara?" She raised an eyebrow at the title.
"You'll need it. You can keep it." Kenshin then started to point at each papers on the ground.
"Then there's the Fundamentals of Mana by Alistair Abara. And a Mana for Battle-Mages by Alistair Abara. Amazing Magic Spells and where to find them by Alistair Abara!" Kenshin named each of the book, which surprisingly was named after his past name.
"Who is this Alistair Abara? Is he a great magician?"
"Heh~ glad you asked. Alistair Abara is a man of focus, commitment and sheer dedication to the evolution of magic. He's what you can also call the God of Magic!"
