HP X LOTM : Please Call Me Mr. Error.

Chapter 399: Descent Into Chaos : Power Play.

Voldemort and Laura paid no attention to the sudden transformation and reveal of random incomplete Mythical Creature forms. Since each step above the fourth sequence was a comprehensive step towards the divine.

Voldemort and Laura instead continued watching each other unhesitatingly.

'Is this his new body?' Laura glared at Voldemort.

'It seems to be much more cursed than it was a few decades ago.'

'A body suited to his pathway?'

'How foolish…'

'Does he even recognise me?'

Laura frowned when she thought of that. Her hands trembled in anger and she clenched her fist shut, promising herself that she'd make the part man part demon pay for what he'd done to her husband.

Loki's information about her husband's condition only worsened her anger towards Voldemort. It made her feel anger from the depths of her very being. She wanted Voldemort dead and she would do anything to see it turn into reality.

Especially when the very man in question was right in front of her.

Voldemort on the other hand found himself hesitating for the first time in a while.

'Hmm…'

His condition was too bad to continue fighting against a Sequence 3. It wasn't because he was any weaker than the person in front of him. It was because he was dealing with plenty of things already.

His body of heart and mind was held back with sticks and duct tape after Loki attacked it with Dumbledore's corruption and his own special spell.

Plus, Loki was still around, Voldemort could sense him prowling just outside his perception, waiting to swoop in like a hyena.

But on top of it all, Voldemort had to keep an eye out for Tom returning to fulfil his warning too.

As much as he hated it, Voldemort felt a little fearful of 'Tom', not because he was worried about Tom being stronger than him because Tom definitely wasn't even a Demigod yet.

Voldemort was worried because Tom knew things about him that no one else did. Things that could be used against him in ways that he could imagine very clearly because of his knowledge and mastery over 'dark' magic.

Voldemort left his thoughts for later and refocused his gaze on Laura as she walked closer to him in steady and unwavering steps.

He'd fought his fair share of Arbiter Pathway Beyonders during the first wave of his reign of terror. He'd killed plenty more too. He remembered wiping away almost the entirety of the Bones family for rejecting the 'protection' of his gracious umbrella.

And yet, seeing Laura standing in front of him in such a fearless manner made him feel a tingling sense of excitement. Almost as if he was on the edge of something sharp.

'Anger, fear and grief…' Voldemort noted Laura's emotions that were on full display. Leaving her Body of Heart and Mind so exposed was clearly an inviting trap for Voldemort to step into.

'Hmm…'

But there was only one person Voldemort feared fighting in the domain of the mind and Laura wasn't even qualified to come near it..

As such with his eyes locked onto her Body of Heart and Mind, Voldemort spoke with a menacing glare-

'Death!'

The word, spoken in Latin, emboldened by Voldemort's immense spirituality transformed into a sharp formless weapon.

And although completely invisible to everyone else, even Laura, the effects were instantaneous.

Laura's skin started to flake and fall off along with clumps of her hair while the blood in her body began to clot and clump as if she were really dying.

It seemed like someone had taken a peeler and started skinning Laura bit by bit.

Blood started to seep through the exposed layers of skin, as her body slowly became drenched in a shower of her own crimson blood that was clotting quicker than ever before as it started killing her.

But there was no panic on Laura's face.

Instead, her macabre blood-painted face stared right at Voldemort as she spoke in a bold tone.

"The language of foulness is a dead language here!"

Almost instantaneously, the rotting of her face died out.

It looked like someone had pressed the pause button on the ability that Voldemort had used.

It proved that Laura was strong enough to contend Voldemort at his current best.

Except that wasn't all that Voldemort had done within those few moments.

Voldemort had surgically placed a defiling seed within Laura's body of heart and mind. And Laura only noticed this when Voldemort smirked before whispering-

"Explode!!!"

Except, as anger and grief, the emotions that were amplified due to the defiling seed to try and destabilize her were almost immediately countered when Laura simply flicked her hand and caused the dangerous bomb to become confined by illusory walls in her Body of Heart and Mind.

Laura had just used Confine and ability which allowed her to strip away her target from the real world, sealing them away so that they could no longer interact with anything outside.

Voldemort's smile faltered a little and slowly morphed into a frown when he saw Laura only looking at him with the same deadpan expression underneath which anger and violence simmered.

That was when Laura stretched her hand and dragged it backwards as if she were pulling something over Voldemort, like shrouding him in a blanket.

What happened next wasn't visible to anyone else apart from Loki and Laura.

Voldemort's eyes narrowed as he felt the effect of what Laura had done.

He had almost instantly lost a bunch of abilities.

Six to be precise.

Laura had dragged her hand and used the same confinement ability to seal away Voldemort's abilities by imprisoning them behind illusory walls that prevented Voldemort from interacting with them any longer.

Voldemort lost his ability to breathe, see and hear.

Along with the mundane, Voldemort lost his ability to transform into a devil, his ability to manipulate emotions and the most important of all his danger premonition ability.

Laura had clearly come up with a plan, since that wasn't the only difference.

In the same motion she used to seal away Voldemort's abilities, Laura also sealed off an entire domain from being able to interfere in a small area around herself and Voldemort.

It was the domain of greed, desire and corruption.

Almost instantly the trees that Voldemort had summoned started to die out. Even the ones that were being used to pin Loki's shadowy appendages in place.

Voldemort was stripped of most power and authority.

Even still Voldemort, all things considered, was actually very calm.

As if he'd expected such things to happen.

And with his next moves, Voldemort reassured the world that he wasn't done yet, he extended his hand in Laura's direction, sensing her emotions, even though he could no longer manipulate them with the help of his Beyonder abilities.

And he wasn't even after manipulating them since several cursed abyssal flame swords erupted out of nowhere, hundreds, all hovering around him, waiting to be dropped like a guillotine on a noble's neck.

Looking at the swords, Laura didn't panic. She calmly extended her own hand as if waiting for the first shot to be fired.

She had already set her part of the stage.

Voldemort's abilities had been sealed and he had lost part of his authority through his connection to the Mother Tree Of Desire since Laura had sealed away the corresponding domain.

Being a Saint, being unable to breathe wasn't a big deal and Laura knew that. But with her biggest weapon being her own body strengthened by advancing through the sequences, Laura wanted to engage Voldemort in close combat so that she could knock all the air out of his body and force him to breathe.

But with Voldemort summoning several Abyssal swords, it was clear he was going to try and run Laura's stamina down without moving from his place by having her fight the barrage created by them.

Laura's fist tightened in response.
