Chapter 393: Chapter 394: Death Note

Alexander initially had no intention of killing Light. He didn't particularly dislike him, and in some ways, he even appreciated Light's perspective. Of course, this tolerance was contingent on one condition: not crossing Alexander's bottom line. Unfortunately, Light made that mistake.

The blood spear, Gungnir, tore through the night sky like a blazing comet. For a fleeting moment, Light felt as though he was being stared down by a majestic lion, a predator ready to pounce.

"Alexander Chase! Died in a car crash!"

Light scrawled Alexander's name in the 'Death Note' once more. However, as soon as the pen touched the page, it faltered. His hand froze, unable to write another stroke.

SPLAT!

Scarlet blood spilled across the empty street as Light's body crumpled to the ground. The spear had pierced him cleanly, and the overwhelming pain left him gasping for air.

"Ryuk… help me…"

Light's voice was faint as he looked weakly at the figure before him. But Ryuk, the Shinigami, remained silent, merely watching as Light took his final breath.

"Light," Ryuk muttered, his tone laced with disappointment, "even in this world, you couldn't bring me the entertainment I sought."

Realizing that Alexander might target him next, Ryuk didn't hesitate. He vanished without a trace, fleeing like a cornered beast.

No way was he staying around to face Alexander. After all, Alexander wasn't just an ordinary human; he was the Creator, the one who had likely drawn the very 'Death Note'. Ryuk wasn't about to gamble on the chance that Alexander couldn't see him.

The thought spurred Ryuk to retreat even faster.

Not long after Ryuk fled, Alexander arrived at the scene. He stood over Light's lifeless body, blood pooling beneath it, and sighed deeply.

"Light, you truly were a genius," Alexander murmured. "But this world is not your own. In a realm filled with gods and demons, brute force often trumps even the sharpest wit."

Alexander knelt by Light's side, his gaze lingering on the fallen genius. He felt a pang of regret. Alexander admired 'Death Note', the anime, and he couldn't deny Light's brilliance. After all, through sheer intellect and the power of the 'Death Note', Light had managed to reduce global crime rates by 70%.

But admiration couldn't excuse what Light had done.

"But you messed with the wrong person," Alexander said, his voice firm.

Alexander had a simple principle: anyone who crossed him—whether hero or villain—faced only one outcome: death.

And Light wasn't just any threat. His existence was dangerous. If he were allowed to live, he might one day target those close to Alexander—ordinary people like Eriri or Utaha. Alexander wasn't willing to take that risk.

As much as Light claimed to have principles, he was still someone capable of killing his own father. To Alexander, keeping such a time bomb around was unacceptable.

Alexander rose, his gaze steady.

"Rest in peace, Light. This world was never meant for you."

"Ding-dong! Congratulations, Master! You've encountered Light Yagami, the descendant, and obtained a random ability along with a copy of the Death Note."

"Ding-dong! Since Master killed Light Yagami, you've earned 10,000 points."

Hearing the system's announcement, Alexander let out a sigh, then retrieved the 'Death Note' he had just obtained.

"What's the point of this thing for someone like me?" Alexander muttered, holding the 'Death Note' in his hands. He recalled the stipulation that anyone who used the 'Death Note' would be barred from both heaven and hell. What would that mean for someone like him?

The system chimed in again.

"Master, do you still care about going to heaven or hell? With your current strength, you can live as long as the heavens and the earth. Ordinary angels and demons wouldn't stand a chance against you, anyway."

Alexander paused.

"Huh? That actually makes sense!"

With his doubts eased, Alexander smirked. "Why was I even worried? Forget it—I'll keep this 'Death Note' for now. Who knows? It might come in handy later."

He considered its potential uses. If he ever encountered an enemy whose location he couldn't determine, he could simply write "struck by lightning" as a cause of death. If it worked, great. If not, it might still provide a clue to their whereabouts.

Satisfied with this idea, Alexander turned and walked away. Behind him, Light vanished from this world, carried away by the wind.

Meanwhile, downstream of the river, a group of figures appeared. They were a group of students, seemingly high schoolers. It was late, and everyone was preparing to head home for the night.

"Makotou, we all had a great time today! Let's head out—see you tomorrow!"

The group waved goodbye to a black-haired youth standing at the riverbank. The one they called Makotou nodded, smiling warmly.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow."

"Goodbye!"

One by one, the students dispersed, leaving Makotou alone. As he prepared to leave, something unusual caught his eye.

A strange notebook lay by the riverbank, its surface completely unmarred despite being soaked in water.

Curious, Stas picked it up and examined it.

"What... is this?"
