Hestia wanted to refuse, but her stomach betrayed her with a loud growl, pulling her back to reality.
"I'd love to! You don't know, but I'm 'very' capable!"
Huh? Hestia, where's your goddess composure? Where's your modesty? What about your dignity? Did you just toss them aside?
Of course, Hestia remained oblivious to such complaints. Even if she had heard them, she likely wouldn't care. After all, survival comes first—who has time for pride when their stomach is empty?
Seeing Hestia agree so readily, Mayumi smiled warmly. It was heartening to help someone in need, especially such a small and seemingly helpless girl.
And so, while Alexander and his friends were having a lively party, a goddess quietly began her working life.
——
The Next Day, Alexander's Home
"I'm off to take the little ones to school," Alexander called out to his family. He then gathered Fran, Remilia, Kanna, and Schwi to escort them to their classes.
With Alexander gone, a calm stillness settled over the household.
"See you later, everyone! I'll be back with Kuroko soon!" Mikoto announced cheerfully before returning to her world using an Advent Conversion Card she had received from Alexander.
As Mikoto vanished, her roommate Shirai Kuroko eagerly awaited her return. Meanwhile, the remaining girls exchanged looks, uncertain what to do next.
"Tohru, what's for breakfast?" Altair finally asked, turning to the head maid of the household.
With Alexander out and Mikoto back in her own world, someone had to decide what to eat.
Hearing the question, the girls collectively groaned. After staying up all night, no one was eager to cook.
"I'm exhausted. Utaha, how about you? Didn't you always claim your housekeeping skills are perfect?" Tohru asked, deftly passing the responsibility to Utaha.
But Utaha, just as tired as everyone else, wasn't having it. Though she prided herself on her domestic abilities, she was in no mood to do anything now.
"How about the Scarlet Devil Mansion?" someone suggested.
"Are you serious?" Kurumi shot back, giving the idea a hard pass. "The Scarlet Devil Mansion is a vampire's lair. I'm not interested in cakes that might have human blood in them."
"Oh? Is the 'Nightmare' who killed over 20,000 people suddenly squeamish about such things?" Altair teased Kurumi, smirking.
Kurumi, unbothered, stretched lazily. "Ara, ara, it seems you've misunderstood me, Altair. I kill people for their time, not for cannibalism. How is that the same? Do you think killing and eating humans are identical? I'm no ghoul, thank you very much."
"Cannibalism or not, this conversation has taken a dark turn," someone muttered, trying to steer the topic elsewhere.
Nero, standing off to the side, seemed to let her mind wander to places it shouldn't have. She quickly shook off those errant thoughts, regaining her composure.
"Haha! Do you think you can handle my cooking? You're in for a treat!" she declared confidently. "Next, allow me to prepare a meal for you to taste!"
"Please, no!" Athena cried, shaking her head vehemently. She had experienced Nero's cooking once before, and that time, she had nearly ended up paying a visit to Hades. "Nero's cooking is 'terrible!'"
Nero scoffed, crossing her arms indignantly. "Hmph! That's only because you lack taste! My culinary skills were taught by none other than Erina herself!"
"This has got to be the worst instance of Erina's name being slandered," Athena retorted bluntly.
"Oh? If you think my cooking isn't up to your standards, why don't you make something yourself?" Nero shot back. "Aren't you the so-called goddess of wisdom? Surely, your cooking must be extraordinary!"
Athena blinked and shrugged. "I'm sorry, but I'm still a child. Employing child labor is wrong, you know."
Altair chuckled darkly. "A child? A child who's lived for 'thousands of years'? Who's pretending to be young now?"
Athena narrowed her eyes. "That's still better than a one-year-old trying to act like a mature adult."
"You—!" Altair froze, realizing she'd been drawn into the argument. Moreover, she couldn't deny it—her age really 'was' just one year.
For a moment, Altair and Athena locked eyes, both brimming with hostility.
Watching the tension escalate, Nero's excitement grew. "They're fighting! They're fighting! Athena and Altair are about to go at it!"
"Ah, this is going to be so entertaining!" she exclaimed, practically bouncing in place. "I wonder who's going to win? Tohru, what do you think?"
