Chapter 301: 301 Ging's Coquettish Operation!
The room was filled with intricate rune carvings in various colors and designs. Two doors of equal height stood on the left and right, each adorned with the Hunter Association's emblem. Between the doors was a clock, its hands all frozen at the 12 o'clock position.
"This is the recycling room," Emukesu explained to Ronnel with a grin, then gestured to the two doors. "You place items into the put-in door, and after 24 hours, you retrieve them from the take-out door—restored to their original condition."
Emukesu's expression turned stern as he added, "But don't try to open the door early. If you do, not only will the items inside disappear forever, but this recycling room will also vanish. And let me tell you, building another one is not cheap or easy."
Ronnel nodded, understanding the severity of the rules. He carefully placed three items into the put-in door and watched as the clock began counting down.
"Now we wait 24 hours," Emukesu said, turning toward Ging, who was busy examining the room. "Your turn, Ging. If you want your eyes healed, it's going to take more time than you think."
Ging tilted his head, feigning innocence. "Why can't you just use Angel's Breath to fix them?"
Emukesu's face twisted in frustration. "Do you even understand how rare Angel's Breath is?! You had the only one and stuck it in Greed Island! Do you have any idea how much trouble and effort it takes to make another?"
Ging chuckled sheepishly. "Fair enough. So, what's the next best option? How long would it take with the tool you have now?"
Emukesu sighed heavily. "At least three days," he replied. "And during that time, you'll need to stay in the therapy machine."
"Three days isn't too bad," Ging mused, scratching his chin. "Though if it takes longer, I might just head to Greed Island, grab another Angel's Breath, and make a copy. Problem solved."
Emukesu froze. His frustration reached new heights as he realized Ging wasn't joking.
"You'd steal an item from your own game?!"
Ging grinned. "Why not? It wouldn't affect the original card or the game mechanics. A copy's just as good as the real thing."
Emukesu groaned, muttering under his breath. "You're a menace, Ging. I ought to report you for abusing game mechanics..."
But Ging's nonchalant demeanor made it clear he was already set on the three-day option. Emukesu shook his head, leading Ging and Ronnel to the next room.
Inside was a sleek machine resembling a high-tech capsule.
"This is the nutritional therapy machine," Emukesu explained. "Lie inside, and it'll scan your body to prepare a custom therapeutic solution. It not only heals injuries but also replenishes nutrients your body lacks. It's incredibly effective."
"Sounds great," Ging said, inspecting the device. "Any catch?"
Emukesu nodded. "There are strict conditions. For the entire three days, you must remain completely still, maintain full consciousness, and refrain from eating, drinking, or relieving yourself. Any deviation, and the treatment fails."
"Conscious the whole time?" Ging raised an eyebrow. "Sounds like suspended animation, minus the unconsciousness."
"Exactly," Emukesu confirmed. "Except instead of resting, you'll be awake and utterly bored. And no bathroom breaks, either."
Ging smirked, unfazed. "Three days without a bathroom? Easy enough. Where do I start?"
Emukesu, slightly taken aback by Ging's readiness, quickly adjusted the machine's settings. "Hop in when you're ready."
Ging didn't hesitate, climbing into the machine with the confidence of someone who'd seen far stranger things.
...
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Chrollo stood silently, grief etched on his face as he processed the loss of Shalnark and Kortopi. When a kind-hearted passenger approached to ask if he was okay, Chrollo replied with a cryptic statement:
"I haven't used the bathroom in days."
Though it was a testament to Chrollo's discipline and guilt, it underscored the extremes these Hunters endure. They truly live in a world where both body and mind are tested to their limits.
