Chapter 138: HHES: Chapter 138
"Damn it! I really wanted to see the Chairman's abilities in action!"
Amidst the excited crowd, a group gathered around the Twelve Zodiacs.
"Members of the Twelve Zodiacs, who dared to attack the Hunter Association?"
Pyon answered without hesitation, "A kid named Loki."
The name silenced the plaza.
'What a crazy guy. First, he caused a huge commotion in Yorknew City, then attacked Hunter Association headquarters.'
'Why attack when Chairman Netero and the Twelve Zodiacs were present?' This reckless act baffled everyone.
Loki, blind and deaf, had a terrifyingly grim expression. After the flames subsided, the four Zodiac members emerged.
Saiyu smiled at Loki. "Much weaker than before. His aura flow is affected."
Loki gripped a short blade, its edge emitting a faint chill. The blade's reflection glinted off Mizaistom's face.
Suddenly, Loki's aura surged violently.
The rapid clicking of keys filled the air. Hisoka, at the window, watched the plaza below, tapping the glass.
"Not done yet?!"
Hisoka turned, his killing intent barely contained.
"Hisoka, your task is to support Loki. Control your aura," Pakunoda said coldly.
Hisoka raised his hands. "Fine, fine! But hurry up, that guy. You heard the fighting below. Even Loki can't hold out against Netero and the Zodiacs for long."
Pakunoda, despite disliking Hisoka, agreed. She looked at their captive. "Not done yet? We're running out of patience." She pressed her pistol to his head.
"Sorry! I'd hurry, but my access is limited. Unless..."
"Unless what?"
"A Zodiac member's Hunter License might yield useful information."
Pakunoda's eyes narrowed, her hand on his shoulder. "Really?"
He nodded frantically. "The Zodiacs have almost the same authority as the Chairman. Their license should give you the information you want."
Hisoka approached. "What do you think?"
Pakunoda nodded. "He's telling the truth, but he wants to use the Zodiacs to get rid of us and escape."
"I see!" Hisoka coldly stared at the captive. "Worthy of the Hunter Association headquarters. Not completely useless."
"What should we do?"
Pakunoda looked at Hisoka. Swish! A card appeared in Hisoka's hand. He looked at Pakunoda. "Leave it to me. I'm good at this. I have years of experience as a thief."
The captive jumped from the window.
'Damn it!' Pakunoda cursed Hisoka silently.
Hisoka, using his elastic abilities, moved horizontally along the building's exterior. He carefully passed Loki and the Zodiacs' battle zone. He almost attacked but stopped himself. A body lay on the ground.
Hisoka's eyes narrowed. 'He took out a Zodiac member that fast!' Loki subtly glanced at him, so Hisoka quickly left.
'He noticed my subtle gaze. Loki's getting stronger,' Hisoka thought. Back inside, he said, "Only three up there, plus the one killed—four total. The others aren't fighting, and the Chairman's gone."
Hisoka smiled. "Interesting. The other Zodiacs must be elsewhere. Opportunity knocks."
In the hallway, Hisoka considered finding the other Zodiac members when he noticed the service elevator light was on. 'Someone's coming up!' Unusual. He pressed the button, waiting.
Buzz buzz buzz The elevator ascended. Ding! The doors opened slowly. Hisoka's eyes narrowed.
'That aura... strong. It's a Zodiac member, no mistake.'
"Why did it stop? Is someone still here?" Cheadle wondered why the elevator had stopped.
Ginta grabbed Cheadle, unleashing a powerful aura to protect her. Swish swish swish! Playing cards shot towards them, blocked by Ginta's aura. Bang! Ginta and Cheadle jumped out. Staying in the elevator was suicide.
As Ginta stepped out, his face darkened. An invisible substance held his foot. He threw Cheadle behind him, unleashing Nen, and stomped on the elevator floor.
Boom boom boom! The elevator cables snapped. The elevator plummeted. Cheadle was thrown inside. As she fell, she looked up...
Ginta didn't see Cheadle's last look. Hisoka's Nen held him fast, pulling him towards Hisoka.
"Impressive reflexes, but this will kill you."
Rip! Hisoka's Nen-enhanced cards sliced Ginta's shoulder. Ginta focused on his aura. Seeing it enveloping him, his expression darkened.
'Damn it!' Hisoka, behind him, pulled Ginta closer.
"Bad luck. Caught in an elevator. You would have been a good opponent."
Swish! Hisoka moved, leaving a bloody mark on Ginta's neck.
Crash! The elevator plummeted. Cheadle, protected by Nen, wasn't injured, though dazed. The doors burst open. Netero stood there, looking at her. After a few seconds, he looked up.
"It wasn't just Loki, was it?"
Cheadle nodded. Before she could speak, Netero stepped into the elevator, jumped, and smashed through the elevator ceiling, rapidly ascending the shaft towards Hisoka's floor.
