HunterxHunter: I Became Stronger After Death

Chapter 45: Flipping the Table

Moor's post-death Nen curse flew toward the room.

What consequences it might bring, Moro didn't know—and he had no intention of investigating.

The reason he had come here and conveniently helped Kanzai solve a problem was to ensure that Kanzai could help guarantee the airship landed safely.

Both of them shared the same goal.

But this was contingent on Kanzai being able to free himself.

Moro glanced at the open door of the room.

From his vantage point, he couldn't see what was happening inside, but he could feel the clash of powerful auras.

"Should I go in…?"

The thought crossed Moro's mind.

The Nen user he had just killed had caused his level to skyrocket.

If there was another opportunity to "clean up," Moro thought, he might not even need to visit the Kingdom of Guganyu after all.

While Moro contemplated, a storm brewed inside the room.

Moor had staked his life on trapping Kanzai in the Nen space, while his companion Aida had broken into the room through the ceiling.

However, the Third Princess wasn't undefended—her Enhancer bodyguard stood by her side.

Aida wouldn't be able to kill the Enhancer within a minute, but given just another minute, she could manage it.

And that's exactly what happened.

By the time Kanzai returned to the room, Talia, Morena's bodyguard, was gravely injured and barely holding on.

That moment was two minutes earlier.

"Moor…"

Out of the corner of her eye, Aida noticed Kanzai entering the room. She immediately understood that Moor had sacrificed his life.

If only he could have bought her five more seconds...

But there were no "ifs."

The mission had to be completed.

Aida and Moor had prepared contingencies to ensure success from the beginning.

For them, the best-case scenario would have been completing the mission and surviving, so they could continue serving the prince.

But now…

Aida felt no sadness or regret, only an unyielding determination.

In a split second, she abandoned the thought of saving herself and poured every ounce of her resolve into completing the mission.

Ignoring Kanzai, who was charging toward her, Aida lunged at Morena, who was shielded by the injured Talia.

Talia, despite her critical injuries, possessed a resolve and will as strong as Moor and Aida.

Fueled by her unwavering determination to protect Morena at all costs, Talia charged forward, ready to sacrifice her remaining strength to buy Kanzai enough time to take over her role as protector.

"Just three more seconds... no, two seconds will do…"

Talia had no fear of death. All she cared about was holding out long enough for Kanzai to take over.

She had to endure. Only then could Morena's life be saved!

Summoning a surge of powerful Nen from her broken body, Talia saw the tide of battle begin to turn in their favor.

But the next sight struck her with despair.

It was the blinding flash of an explosion.

Her opponent…

…was carrying explosives.

Yes, in her final moments, Aida detonated the explosives strapped to her body with a calm resolve.

These explosives were the last trump card that she and Moor had smuggled aboard the airship by disguising themselves as employees.

If they couldn't survive, then they would "flip the table" without hesitation.

The blinding flash vanished in an instant, replaced by a shockwave of searing flames that engulfed Aida, Talia, and Morena.

Kanzai's expression shifted drastically. He barely managed to shield his face with his left arm as the explosion's shockwave hurled him backward.

In the lounge area, Moro heard the deafening explosion. Moments later, he saw the shockwave ripple out of the room like a fiery dragon, rushing down the hallway toward him.

The distance between the explosion and the lounge wasn't far, but it was just enough to give Moro time to react.

As soon as the explosion occurred, Moro's eyes narrowed. He leapt behind a sofa, crouching low as he reinforced his body with Nen and held the sofa in front of him as a shield.

Boom!

The explosion tore through the lounge, overturning furniture and setting everything ablaze.

When the chaos subsided, the carpet and other flammable materials in the area had ignited, filling the air with fire and smoke.

Moro rose cautiously from behind the sofa, surveying the devastation with trembling pupils and a sense of relief.

The unsteady sensation beneath his feet signaled a more pressing danger—the airship was likely on the verge of crashing due to the explosion.

Feeling an ominous foreboding, Moro turned his gaze toward the hallway ahead.

There, Kanzai was lying on the ground, his body scorched in multiple places. It was unclear how badly he was injured.

Inside the room, the explosion had left it in ruins, engulfed in fire and smoke.

In one corner, Talia's mangled and bloodied body lay still, lifeless.

But beneath her, faint groans could be heard—Morena's voice.

In the final moments before the explosion consumed them, Talia had fulfilled her duty, sacrificing herself to shield Morena and save her life.

But before Talia collapsed, she only noticed Kanzai's return. She hadn't seen the black, flame-like post-death Nen curse floating toward her.

Even among the enemy, there were those with unshakable wills and obsessions.

Moor's post-death Nen, in its fiery wraith-like form, passed through the smoke and flames, heading directly for Talia's body.

The next second, Morena's faint voice fell silent.

In the hallway outside the room, Kanzai shook his head as he got to his feet, ignoring his injuries. He rushed into the smoke-filled room.

There, he quickly found Talia's lifeless body and Morena lying beneath her.

Both were dead.

Kanzai's face darkened.

"I'm sorry…" he murmured to the corpses. Glancing at the tilting floor, he clenched his fists and turned to leave the smoke-filled room.

Back in the hallway, he immediately spotted Moro standing in the lounge.

He ran toward him, asking, "What's your name?"

"Moro," the other replied.

Seeing Kanzai charge out of the room, Moro could already guess what had happened.

He wondered what kind of person Kanzai was protecting to have drawn the attention of such strong Nen users, who ultimately resorted to flipping the table.

It left no room for survival.

Kanzai stopped in front of Moro, briefly glancing at the headless corpse that had been thrown further down the hallway. Then he turned back to Moro.

"Moro, right? You know who I am, don't you?"

"…Of course," Moro replied, marveling internally at Kanzai's perceptiveness. He nodded and added with a touch of flattery, "You're part of the Hunter Association's Zodiac Twelve. It'd be hard not to recognize you."

"Then I don't need to introduce myself. Come with me to find the captain."

Ignoring the flattery, Kanzai's mind was on the explosion's aftermath. His priority was to locate the airship's captain and ensure an emergency landing.

Moro didn't move, sighing. "That's exactly why I came to find you."

"What do you mean?" Kanzai frowned.

Moro briefly explained what he had seen in the cockpit.

Kanzai's expression darkened further as he listened.

Creak—

A sharp, grating noise came from ahead as the airship swayed violently.

Moro steadied himself, muttering, "This explosion… might force that Manipulation-Type user to land the airship."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the floor tilted sharply again, the angle becoming dangerously steep.

It felt as if the airship was moments away from crashing.

Moro and Kanzai exchanged glances, each seeing the gravity of the situation reflected in the other's eyes.
