Hyberian Wars Chronicles

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Pure Iceberg

Due to the attack, various alarms went off inside, resulting in Harvester's mental breakdown.

Seeing the situation worsening, the Leading Captain immediately spoke up.

"Consolidate the formation, Xize, you go save him."

"Received, Captain."

At that moment, the driver lost control and wailed.

"You can't leave me behind."

In the chaos, that Harvester broke formation.

"Damn it!" The Leading Captain's face turned pale.

"What should we do, Captain?" Xize was equally at a loss.

"It's hopeless." The Leading Captain had to admit this outcome.

Qianlong clearly saw that after the Harvester broke formation, swarms of Prickly Soft Flying Bugs pounced on it, instantly enveloping the entire Harvester in a cocoon of bugs.

"Save me! I don't want to die." The pleading voice could still be heard over the communication channel.

"Ah, the bugs are coming in, no! Don't, please!"

Hearing this, the leading Captain gritted his teeth, suddenly turned, and raised his arm, firing a Concussion Grenade at the Harvester engulfed by the Prickly Soft Flying Bugs.

Boom.

The violent explosion did not change the outcome; a batch of Prickly Soft Flying Bugs fell off, but the dense swarm still pounced on the delicious food.

"Warning, you have been locked on."

Qianlong held her breath, operating the Harvester.

"Assisting with corrections," Phantom provided a prompt.

Suddenly, the Harvester moved, its left arm activating the Mechanical Pincers.

It slammed down to the left.

A stray Prickly Soft Flying Bug flew over, precisely caught by the Mechanical Pincers around its head.

No matter how it struggled, it was ineffective.

Everyone else was startled.

Xize, seeing the sudden situation, was also taken aback but quickly reacted, drawing out an Alloy Titanium Knife and flying over, slicing the bug in half with one strike.

"Well done."

After saying that, Xize returned to the formation.

Qianlong couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Phantom's voice sounded again, "Operation deviation of sixteen percent, judged as unqualified, further training required."

After hearing this, Qianlong realized how much her operation had deviated.

The team continued to advance, and a Mid-level Frigate fighting in the sky suddenly changed direction, unleashing numerous cannons towards Qianlong's side.

The escorting Guardian immediately felt the pressure lessen, and the infiltration plan became increasingly smooth.

A floating iceberg appeared in their line of sight.

"Scanning."

"Pure Iceberg, no biological eggs or parasites, approximately 109.8W cubic meters, weight approximately 98.82W tons."

"Angle deviation of 47 degrees, severely tilted."

The Leading Captain spoke on the voice channel, "We'll get you there; the rest is up to you."

Qianlong's screen displayed the designated task.

"Correct 172 Fixed Alloy Chains, establish new 211 Alloy Chains."

"Task Analysis 1: 172 Fixed Alloy Chains, deviated from the predetermined angle, disconnect the tail link of the 172 Alloy Chains, adjust and re-fix."

"Task Analysis 2: 211 Alloy Chains to encircle the target's west side, fixed sources are Mushroom, Hound, 47 fixed frame, 82 fixed frame."

Then a three-dimensional analysis diagram appeared, clearly outlining the plan.

Four teams, 13 Harvesters began to spread out.

At this point, no one could supervise anyone else; if the iceberg wasn't corrected, the mission couldn't be completed, and staying even a minute longer brought them closer to death.

Qianlong piloted the Harvester towards the iceberg, searching for the tail end of the 172 Alloy Chains.

Initially thinking it would go smoothly, when she got closer, Qianlong was a bit dumbfounded; the entire glacier was covered in Alloy Chains, making it hard to distinguish which one was the 172 Alloy Chain.

Numerous Harvesters were at work; some were setting up new Alloy Chains, while others were clearing out replaced Alloy Chains.

Many Harvesters were supporting the bottom of the iceberg, preventing it from tilting further.

Qianlong patiently searched the general area given but did not find it.

"Phantom, search for the 172 Chain."

"Searching."

"Display target."

Qianlong saw a model of the iceberg, with a red line clearly embedded inside.

If that was the case, the best place to correct it was at the spaceship connection point.

Qianlong flew along the 172 Chain towards the source, Mushroom, and smoothly arrived at the bottom of Mushroom, extending her mechanical arm to begin disassembling the safety latch of the Alloy Chain head.

Click, it was unlocked.

Qianlong grabbed the 172 Alloy Chain and flew up, moving the embedded chain in the iceberg to re-correct it.

"Warning, evade, target 1 has breached the defense line, target 2 has breached the defense line, target 3 has breached the defense line, calculating flight path." Phantom provided a prompt.

Qianlong saw a yellow dashed line extending beside her, while the other two were displayed at a greater distance.

Qianlong piloted the Harvester backward, deviating from the trajectory.

Breaking in was a giant flying insect, about the same size as the Harvester, with six pairs of wings on either side and round orifices on its abdomen.

"Type I Soldier-Class Eotu Insect, the abdominal orifices can spray highly corrosive liquid and possess high-strength biting ability."

As the Eotu Insect charged in, it sprayed streams of green liquid from its abdomen, causing the Harvesters below to hurriedly evade.

The green liquid landed on the Alloy Chains, instantly melting holes into them.

"Not good."

Seeing this scene, the Harvesters immediately felt anxious.

They all raised their cannons, aiming at the Eotu Insect, and opened fire.

The Eotu Insect quickly flew through the air, dodging the cannon fire, swooping over the top of a Harvester.

It sprayed a large amount of corrosive liquid at the Harvester.

After being hit by the corrosive liquid, the Harvester plummeted directly down, landing on the iceberg, its body sparking; although the armor did not dissolve, it was still incapacitated.

Qianlong raised the cannon barrel, aiming at the Eotu Insect.

"Phantom, help me correct."

"Automatic correction in progress, weak point locked."

Qianlong pressed the fire button, unleashing a barrage of cannon fire.

Bang bang bang! The Eotu Insect had just begun to evade to the left when its body was directly hit by the cannon fire, explosions erupting on its abdomen, wings, and head.

The Eotu Insect let out a wailing sound, its body blown apart, and then it unwillingly fell down.

(Note: Adding a setting in space, due to the severe weightlessness, generally, after being killed, the body will float away based on the point of force, which greatly affects the sense of fantasy, so in the future, all kills will be set to fall down due to downward force, which feels more impactful.)

"Target confirmed dead."

Qianlong couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief and continued to adjust the position of the chains.

The next part went relatively smoothly; Qianlong successfully adjusted the chain position to the designated angle and reconnected the chain to Mushroom.

Then Qianlong clicked the screen to upload the completion of Task 1.

There was still one task left; Qianlong flew towards Mushroom and then applied for Task 2 operations.

Soon, a female commander from Mushroom appeared before Qianlong.

"I am from Mushroom, Lieutenant Lan Fu. Your application has been approved; the 211 Alloy Chain will be released through release port 32. Good luck."

Qianlong replied, "Thank you."

"It

should be us thanking you," Lan Fu replied seriously.

Qianlong merely nodded slightly, cut off the communication, and flew towards release port 32.
