Chapter 801: No answer...
Zhao Tian looked at Eleanor's soul fluttering in front of the room's door "Eleanor, is everything ok now?"
Eleanor nodded her head and replied "After absorbing my other shard, my soul has been strengthened."
"And... I didn't get any information on forging a body or transferring a soul to a body. Forgive me, Fateless One."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Tian let out a soft sigh and lowered his head "I see..."
Looking at him, she asked "... Do you want to talk with her, Fateless One? I can flow some of my soul energy into that lamp, and you can speak with her for a bit."
His gaze quivered "No... if she is just dormant there, she won't feel anything, right?"
She shook her head and replied "She won't feel anything. She is just sleeping."
With a faint nod, he uttered "Then no need to disturb her. You can go and rest now."
Eleanor's soul shard slowly entered her room, and Zhao Tian stood there for a moment.
Raising his hand, he clutched his forehead 'This sucks...'
He hoped that he could at least get a hint on restoring a soul to a body.
He wasn't asking for a miracle. Just a direction.
He is not afraid of jumping into another rupture.
But after Ji Shuang's words, he is more scared of losing his wives.
"You may end up losing what you already have in search of what you lost."
He wants to revive Yao Jing, but in search of reviving her, he is scared that he will lose his wives.
And after entering the rupture this time, it made him realize how hard it is to find an exit for the rupture.
If Eleanor's shard was not there, it would take even more years for him to find a spot like that.
Taking a deep breath, he made his way back to the room.
When he reached the door to their room, he hesitated for a second.
Then he opened it.
Entering in, he saw the four women sitting on the bed, waiting for him.
As soon as he entered, they hurriedly got up.
They sensed his mood before he even crossed the threshold.
Xia Shenyi reached up to him and looked into his eyes filled with unspoken emotions. "Tian..."
With a deep sigh, he shook his head and Xia Shenyi realized he didn't get any answers from Eleanor.
Her eyes trembled in sorrow, and she hugged him tightly "It's okay, Tian. You did very well..."
She buried her face into his chest, clinging to him as if she could protect him from the pain he refused to show.
Zhao Tian closed his eyes and lifted his arms to embrace her.
Behind her, Velnorah approached, her silver eyes trembling with worry.
She placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and leaned in to kiss the side of his head.
Shi Yixian and Li Jia also reached him and hugged him closer.
"My Liege..."
"Tian."
...
The gentle light of dawn filtered through the translucent curtains, casting soft golden hues across the wooden floors of the corridor.
Zhao Tian stepped out of the room, the warmth of his wives' embrace still lingering on his skin.
He paused just outside the doorway, closing his eyes for a moment and breathing in deeply.
When he opened them again, his gaze rose to the sky.
The clouds drifted lazily across the blue sky with the faintest shades of orange and pink from the early morning sun.
He ran a hand through his hair, exhaling softly.
With light steps, he turned and walked down the stone path.
Stopping in front of the nearby pavilion, Zhao Tian reached up and knocked gently on the wooden door.
"Master…"
There was a brief silence before her familiar voice answered from inside.
"Tian, come in."
He pushed the door open and entered the spacious bedroom.
Zhao Tian's eyes were drawn to the tall figure standing near a long bronze mirror.
Yan Zijin stood gracefully in front of the mirror, adjusting her robes.
Her long white hair had been tied up in an elegant coil, adorned with a single hairpin in the shape of a feather.
Despite the early hour, she was already immaculate.
She glanced at him through the mirror's reflection, her sharp eyes softening slightly at his presence.
Zhao Tian walked over to the bed and lowered himself onto its edge of the bed, resting his hands on his knees as he watched her quietly for a moment.
"Any information from Sister Lian?"
She gave a slight nod, walking toward the dressing table and picking up a comb to gently smooth down a few stray strands of her hair.
"Yes. She sent word this morning. Said she would come meet us within the hour."
Zhao Tian raised an eyebrow slightly "So early?"
Yan Zijin nodded again. "Mm. She was apologetic for not meeting us yesterday. Said there were… complications."
Zhao Tian leaned back slightly, "Complications? Does it have to do with her family?"
There was a brief pause.
Yan Zijin set the comb down with a quiet click and turned toward him again.
Her eyes narrowed faintly "That's what I also suspect..."
Zhao Tian's expression darkened "Are they trying to force her on something…"
Yan Zijin let out a soft sigh "We don't know anything for certain yet. Let her explain it herself. But yes, my instinct tells me there's pressure on her."
She walked to him and sat beside him on the bed.
Looking at her, he asked "Did you eat anything in the morning?"
She shook her head and looked into his eyes "No, I asked for tea. Should be coming right now."
As she spoke, she noticed the dullness in his eyes.
She knew he was exhausted after not properly sleeping for seven days, but his eyes are still gloomy.
She reached out and gently ruffled his hair "Did you not have a good sleep..."
Her warm touch and the concerned words from his Master reminded him of Yao Jing, and he slowly shook his head "No.. I had a good sleep."
Yan Zijin's hand lowered, raising his chin "Then why this gloomy face?"
A quiet smile appeared on his lips, and he spoke in a teasing tone "Nothing, just a bit tired. Maybe I would get better if my Master let me squeeze her breasts."
Hearing this Yan Zijin was embarrassed and pinched his cheek "You insolent brat, that was a one-time thing. Don't dream that you will get to do that again."
He looked down at her chest and smiled "Are you sure?"
She hurriedly crossed her arm across her chest, turning slightly to the side in an attempt to shield herself "Don't forget that I am your Master."
Seeing her like this, Zhao Tian couldn't help but chuckle, and she gently lowered her hand.
A light knock sounded at the door, breaking the moment and a servant's voice called through the wooden frame.
"Elder Yan, your tea has arrived."
Yan Zijin smiled faintly and stood up. "Come. Let's have some tea while we wait for Lian'er."
