I Am Hades, The supreme GOD of the Underworld!

Chapter 488: Chapter 489: Sky and Earth, Lord of Heaven and the Four Elements

The Birth of the Seven God-King Level Underworld Gods!

Queen of the Underworld, Persephone—

As Hades' wife and Queen of the Underworld, Persephone was naturally destined to receive the blessings from the World Tree, to be beloved by it.

Because—

She is Hades' wife.

Thus—

With the World Tree's transformation, it was inevitable that its feedback of immense world power would lead to the birth of an Ancient God.

Initially—

Hades had planned for the Primordial Serpent of Heaven and Earth to be the first Ancient God of the Underworld. That was his original intention.

But—

As time passed, Hades gained insight into his own nature and made a change.

He realized that all external entities ultimately remained external; the essence of the Underworld's World Tree was still himself, the Lord of the Underworld.

Therefore—

The Primordial Serpent of Heaven and Earth became unnecessary. Hades then discarded the Serpent and the Four Divine Beasts, abandoning them entirely.

Now—

As the Underworld's World Tree matured, only one deity was truly worthy to receive its feedback and the immense world power it offered.

And that was Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld!

Other than Persephone, none could claim the title of the Underworld's first Ancient God.

As for Hades?

Well—

Hades is not merely an underworld god; he is the Lord of the Underworld!

There is a fundamental difference between the two roles.

"My lord," Persephone said softly, gazing at her husband. Her voice was gentle and light. "I never imagined that one day I would so effortlessly step into the realm of the Ancient Gods."

"An Ancient God…" Hades looked deeply at Persephone and, after a pause, replied slowly, "This is only the beginning."

"I believe in you, my lord."

Persephone's face held a gentle smile, her beautiful features lit up by her unwavering trust. In her eyes, her husband would never deceive her, no matter what.

Yes—

In Persephone's view, if her husband declared this was only the beginning, then it was only the beginning. Her faith in him was absolute.

In fact—

Not only Persephone but also every underworld god and citizen of the Underworld had the same confidence in their Lord Hades.

No matter the reason, no matter the events, no matter the time—

If Lord Hades believed something was possible, then it was. And there was no need for doubt. Absolutely, definitely, there would be no issues.

This was the Underworld's unquestioning trust in Hades.

Throughout the Underworld, there was an unshakable, instinctive, soul-deep faith in him.

And naturally, this included Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld.

In fact—

Among all in the Underworld, Persephone's trust in Hades was the greatest. It was sincere, absolute, and from the heart. Even if others doubted Hades, Persephone's trust was unwavering.

After all—

Isn't it natural for a wife to trust her husband?

At the very least—

For Persephone, this was only right. In the chaotic, deeply complicated world of the Greek pantheon, a bond like theirs was truly extraordinary.

"Ah!"

"Ah!"

Just then, a familiar voice echoed. Hestia, at some point, had wandered into the Pure Land and was curiously watching her brother and sister-in-law.

"Hehehe…"

Hestia bounced over, smiling as she looked at her sister-in-law. "Sister-in-law! You've become an Ancient God? Tsk, tsk, tsk…"

She grinned mischievously, saying, "Finding a good husband really is important!"

Hestia clicked her tongue with childlike innocence, an expression that was both adorable and amusing.

"Elder sister," Persephone replied gently, "Do you want that too?"

"No!" Hestia shook her head quickly, saying, "Oh no, please no! You know what they say? 'With great power comes great responsibility.' No power means no responsibility. I'm happy this way, so no thank you!"

"…"

"Hehehe…"

Hades shook his head silently, while Persephone stifled a laugh.

Truly—

They didn't know how to respond.

In some sense—

This was exactly what they'd expect Hestia to say and do. It was just like her.

"Elder sister, you…"

Persephone shook her head helplessly.

Hestia shrugged, putting on an exaggeratedly lazy posture, and said, "Don't look at me like that! I like not doing anything. When I was powerless, there were already too many things to handle. Imagine if I had power—everything would get dumped on me!"

"Nope!"

"No way!"

Hestia shook her head decisively.

Her carefree attitude was something Persephone found both exasperating and endearing.

After all—

She was her elder sister, and if this was what made her happy, then so be it.

Hades spoke calmly, "Sister, if you wish to remain uninvolved, you don't need to participate in anything. I am more than capable of protecting my sister."

"Hehehe…"

Hestia smiled brightly, looking as pleased as ever. "See? That's my little brother, speaking so openly and confidently!"

She raised her thumb in admiration, her adorable gesture making Hades and Persephone both smile.

"Goodness…"

Persephone looked at her silly sister-in-law, shaking her head gently. There was little more she could say.

After all—Hestia had already spoken her mind; what else was there to say?

At this moment, it was simply better to let things be.

Hades, as usual, remained calm.

To him, Hestia was not merely acting. He saw her as genuine family.

For Hades, family and love were paramount.

This—

Was undeniable.

It was ironic, really. Both Hades, with his detachment, and Poseidon, with his lack of emotion, had their own flaws and were never expected to value relationships.

Yet—

Both of them did. It was Zeus, despite his fiery temper and lack of flaws as a god-king, who showed the least regard for personal ties. For Zeus, everything could be sacrificed if it stood in his way.

In Hades' eyes, his sister was like a child.

And thus—

As her brother, shouldn't he protect his sister?

To him, this was only natural and beyond question.

Since that was the case, there was no hesitation or unnecessary talk.

Just then—

"Hmm…"

"Hestia!"

Rhea's voice came, filled with a touch of exasperation. "Look at yourself—do you still resemble a goddess?"

"Hehehe…"

Hestia grinned sheepishly. "Mother Goddess, it's all fine! With my brother and sister-in-law here, I can live a carefree life as an underworld goddess. What's so bad about that?"

"Mother Goddess," Persephone added softly, "If this is what makes Sister happy, then there's nothing wrong with it. Her happiness is what matters most."

Hades said nothing, but his support for Persephone's words was apparent.

"Oh!"

Rhea shook her head and sighed. "You two spoil Hestia too much! Here she is, the elder sister, but she acts just like a child."

"There's nothing wrong with that."

Hades spoke gently. "In this mythological world that's as chaotic as a churning pot, a goddess like Sister is a rare blessing."

"Truly…"

Rhea sighed again, knowing that her son was right. Hestia was carefree because she didn't need to worry about anything, thanks to her family's love and protection.

For Hestia, all she had to do was live joyfully, like a simpleton, every day. It was her brother's shield and her family's love, and even Persephone shared this protective affection for her.

For Hades and Persephone, as long as their sister was happy, they would do whatever it took to keep her that way. Could anyone doubt their ability to protect her?

Not in the slightest.

Compared to the lives of Hera and Demeter, Hestia's sheltered, princess-like existence was indeed a rare exception in the chaotic Greek pantheon.

In any mythological system, relations between gods were chaotic, and for a deity like Hestia to exist was truly unusual.

This was Hades and Persephone's special gift to their sister.

At that moment—

Eris and Pandora arrived with Hemera, Hypnos, Thanatos, Baal, Baimon, Astaroth, and Asmodeus.

The seven underworld gods kneeled with reverence.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!"

"Greetings, Lady Persephone!"

"Greetings, Eldest Sister!"

Each deity's gaze was filled with respect, loyalty, and devotion.

Hades returned to his throne, raising his hand slightly.

At once—

The nine underworld gods stood.

Eris and Pandora moved to stand behind Persephone, while Hestia took her own throne, sitting quietly as they awaited what was to come.

Rhea's apparition had already vanished. Though she could remain here, she preferred to stay away, relishing her peaceful life.

"Hemera."

"Your Majesty!"

Hades spoke, and Hemera stepped forward, kneeling respectfully.

Hades said calmly, "From this day, Hemera shall be the Lord of Heaven in the Underworld."

"By your command!"

Hemera bowed

deeply before departing to fulfill her duties, heading to the Heavenly Realm of the Underworld.

Hades turned his gaze to the remaining six underworld gods.

"Hypnos, Thanatos."

"Your Majesty!"

The twin gods stepped forward, bowing slightly.

Hades continued, "Sky and Earth, you shall each inherit one of these two essences, representing the sky and earth of the Underworld."

"By your command!"

The twins bowed respectfully, with no hesitation. They did not refuse.

After all—

If their Lord entrusted them with such a role, it was their duty to fulfill it with dedication, not reluctance.

Then Hades looked at Baal, Baimon, Astaroth, and Asmodeus.

He said calmly, "Baal, Baimon, Astaroth, and Asmodeus, as the four supreme pillars among the 72 Demon Gods, you shall inherit the four primordial elements of Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind."

"By your command!"

The four Demon Gods knelt, their eyes filled with unbreakable loyalty and reverence.
