I Am Honkai

Chapter 7: Crushing Battle

Thus, Selene began her routine life on campus, moving between three main points: the classroom, the library, and the dormitory.

Tokiwadai, being a top middle school, had excellent faculty. Although it didn't help much with her ability enhancement, the teachers' teachings greatly enriched Selene's academic knowledge.

Like a sponge absorbing water, Selene continuously absorbed knowledge.

In the blink of an eye, more than a month had passed. At the end of the month, with the monthly exams, Selene's rapid progress once again shocked all the examiners. The Board of Directors doubled her resource allocation again. With just the monthly scholarship (pocket money), Selene could already be considered quite wealthy.

During this period, Academy City saw the promotion of two more Level 5 Espers.

The second, "Vector Manipulation," codenamed "Accelerator."

The third, "Dark Matter," named Kakine Teitoku.

The schoolteachers appreciated Selene's diligence in her studies and often guided her through difficult points, making her studies even more effective.

At night, in the School Garden, dormitory 1A101.

Ding~ Ding~ Ding~

"Hello, this is Selene... Hmm? Someone is unhappy with the rankings and wants to challenge me? Okay, I understand. I'll be there soon." The voice on the phone was from a staff member of the Board, informing her of a challenge.

Indeed, the upper echelon of Academy City encourages fights among Espers, believing that combat enhances abilities. The "Level 6 Shift Project" is advocated based on this view.

"It seems the chicken to be killed is ready." Sitting at her desk, Selene suddenly vanished, planning to go all out this time to make an example.

Arriving at the duel location, several "Dark Side" members nodded at Selene and let her pass without questioning.

Passing through an old, abandoned factory, Selene saw a young man about 180 centimeters tall with brown hair, wearing a purple top. This was her opponent, "Dark Matter," Kakine Teitoku.

Seeing Selene appear, Kakine Teitoku wore a proud smile, his gaze sinister. "Finally here. I thought you were scared and wouldn't come."

Ignoring Kakine Teitoku's trash talk, Selene squinted her eyes, smiled gracefully, and turned to the "Aerial Cable" in the sky. "For the record, I'm not responsible for any damages."

With that, Selene didn't waste any more words and acted.

Simulation — Repulsion, Instant Cast!

Boom!!!

The ground instantly cracked, and the repulsion sent Kakine Teitoku flying hundreds of meters away. The visible repulsive force leveled the abandoned factory to the ground.

From a bird's-eye view, with Selene at the center, a huge crater formed instantly, the central area reaching a terrifying depth of thirty meters. All structures were pulverized, and the terrifying repulsive force spread outward in a ring, as if ravaged by a nuclear bomb.

Kakine Teitoku felt as if he hadn't reacted, staggered, and then a powerful force struck his chest, sending him flying.

As the smoke cleared from the edge of the rubble pile, six white wings like those of an angel burst from the debris, extending over ten meters. Kakine Teitoku emerged from the rubble, looking extremely miserable, covered in blood, staggering, his clothes in tatters.

"Cough, cough, repulsion?" Kakine Teitoku coughed blood, holding his chest as he looked up.

Tap, tap, tap...

In the sky, Selene walked down leisurely from the air, stepping on "purple light sheets." "Who gave you the courage to challenge me directly? Let me show you what it means to be beaten by society."

"Rest assured, I promised the Board I wouldn't kill you."

Selene's red diamond-shaped pupils emitted an eerie light as she looked at Kakine Teitoku like an ant.

"You talk as if you've already won! What a joke!!!"

Kakine Teitoku roared, countless white particles on his body flashing like arcs. The six wings on his back rapidly extended over twenty meters, striking the ground with force. Amidst the roar, he flew over Selene's head, the six wings combining into a white tornado that shot straight at Selene.

The air made a whirring sound due to the intense friction.

Facing Kakine Teitoku's attack, Selene remained unfazed, neither attacking nor dodging.

Seeing Selene standing "dumbfounded," "Damn it! Looking down on me like this, not even dodging..."

The storm passed through Selene, crashing into the ground, creating a straight trench.

Kakine Teitoku's face showed disbelief, "This is impossible..." Then a hint of madness flashed in his eyes.

Subsequently, he unleashed abilities such as slashes, gales, shock waves, and light attacks. But it was all in vain; every attack passed through Selene, only further ravaging the ground.

Kakine Teitoku's eyes were a bit dazed, unable to accept this outcome, "Why is the gap so big! No, it's impossible..."

Just then, before Kakine Teitoku could finish, Selene extended her right hand towards him.

Simulation — Gravity!

Struggling only expanded the previous tear wounds on his body, intensifying the sharp pain, "Ah!" Kakine Teitoku cried out in pain, his body uncontrollably flying towards Selene.

"I must not be hit by repulsion again, or I really won't have a chance!" Thinking this, Kakine Teitoku gritted his teeth and frantically activated his ability. The white dark matter behind him quickly shrank, forming a cocoon that completely shielded him.

But how could that stop her?

Selene appeared out of nowhere within the closing white wings, smiled kindly at Kakine Teitoku, spun mid-air in an unscientific maneuver, and delivered a whip kick, sending Kakine Teitoku back to the ground.

Bang!

Like a meteor falling, Kakine Teitoku was pinned to the factory's foundation.

"Is this all there is... Never mind, the game should end!"

Now having roughly gauged her strength, Selene lost interest in continuing and floated beside Kakine Teitoku, activating gravity again.

"Hmm?" Selene was slightly surprised. Kakine Teitoku still had the strength to resist her gravity, but that was all. Her gaze gradually turned cold...

Slash! Slash!

Blood splattered.

Kakine Teitoku's arms and six white wings were severed from his body under Selene's spatial cutting.

"Ah!" The pain from his severed arms nearly caused Kakine Teitoku to go into shock, unable to resist the gravity any longer, flying swiftly towards Selene.

Blood dripped from the sky, Selene grabbed Kakine Teitoku's throat with one hand, lifting him up. "Did you think you could defeat me? This boring game ends now, insect!"

Her grip tightened, "Cough, cough," Kakine Teitoku's eyes rolled back, his struggling legs gradually straightened and lost strength, his head tilting as he lost consciousness.

"Tsk, you're still useful, it's not time for you to die yet."

With that, a Subspace Spear appeared beside Selene, piercing Kakine Teitoku's chest. As Honkai energy was injected, the veins all over Kakine Teitoku's body began to emit a purple-red glow.

Gently landing on the shattered ground, the surrounding "Dark Side" members cautiously approached, "You didn't, um, you haven't killed the third one, have you?"

The "Dark Side" thought Kakine Teitoku was dead, understandably, given their perspective of the one-sided battle, with his "corpse" still hanging on Selene's spear. Although she had promised the Board not to kill, it seemed Kakine Teitoku was already gone.

With a casual wave, Selene tossed Kakine Teitoku over, and the "Dark Side" members quickly caught him, "I've kept him alive; he won't die. Okay, you can report back, I'm returning to Tokiwadai."

"Yes, yes." The "Dark Side" members hurriedly responded.

Selene turned and stepped into a purple-glowing black circle, disappearing.

...

"This? It's amazing; his wounds have already healed."

"The third one's arms regrew..."

"What about his severed limbs?"

"According to the 'Dark Side' report, they turned to ash."

"Sigh, a bit of a pity, they would have been excellent samples."

"But why has the third one's physical condition improved so much?"

"There's a high-concentration energy in his chest that's repairing the third one's injuries."

"The energy signature matches that of the first one."

"Quick, report to the Board!"

...

"Last night, an old processing plant in District 10 exploded due to a gas leak..."

Selene sat on the sofa watching the Academy City TV broadcast, feeling a sense of incongruity.

"They should have noticed the mutation in Kakine Teitoku's body."

Indeed, Selene deliberately left Kakine Teitoku half-dead. To Selene, Kakine Teitoku was a great tool, giving her ample space to expose Honkai energy, allowing the Board to discover its existence.

Doing so provided her with an excuse to use Honkai energy in the future while gradually revealing her higher value, gaining more favorable conditions. It was akin to how frontier generals "fostered bandits to increase their prestige."

"Let's see if you can resist the temptation of Honkai energy enhancement."

...

At this time, in the Seventh District Center, the Windowless Building.

"Only part of the energy in the third one's body was extracted; most of it has already been absorbed by him."

"Tests show that this energy can be converted into other forms of energy, such as electricity, and it can power spaceships, cars, and other machinery. Its efficiency surpasses any known energy source in the world."

"Based on the changes in the third one's physical condition, we have reason to believe that this energy can affect biological organisms, and it clearly has enhancement and strengthening functions. Whether it has side effects is currently unknown."

"Due to insufficient samples, the experiment had to be reluctantly terminated."

Looking at the researchers' report, Aleister remained expressionless, focusing his gaze on the electronic projection screen in front of him.

The image paused on the scene where the Subspace Spear pierced Kakine Teitoku, injecting purple-red energy. "It seems the time has come for a meeting."
